Before registering for an account with them. Their privacy policy states

“we may collect personally identifiable information about you, such as your full name, ID/passport number, portrait, phone number, email address, IP address, device identifier, geological location, billing information, and so on, as well as non-personally identifiable information, such as messages, images, VoIP data, audio-video streaming data, other content you sent and other activities you done under the Services.”

If you ask me there is no reason this much information is needed to use a camera filter app. Before registering I recommend you read the policy yourself!

I just found out upon upgrading my iOS that this one app (out of 656 on my phone) requires my App Store login info. It was listed in my settings. When I went to FIMO to investigate, after pulling consent to use my login info, I found that I can still access my purchases without using FIMO Store login.

So what is the need to use my login and they provide no other choice to use an email login? Also, the feedback section of FIMO requests that if there is a payment related issue to upload payment and contact info details when there is an issue.

That sounds a lot like the developers are requesting credit card info and personal information for billing address that is unnecessary if we are forced to use FIMO Store details.

Some of the filters here are really quite good, and I’ve bought a number of them over the past few years. I even had FIMO on my home screen for a long time. The developer’s move to a subscription model removed the ability to buy new “films” individually. I’ll keep the ones I have, but will certainly not be subscribing. (And for the price they’re asking, FIMO would also need more features, such as the ability to set image dimensions separately from the films.) I’ve also moved it from my home screen to a folder of other old camera apps. Maybe I’ll use it sometimes, but I’ll probably eventually delete it.

I really loved having the option to purchase individual rolls and even the option to test them out with the trial feature however, I’m bummed the subscription model has been implemented because like few before me, I’ve purchased a few rolls but don’t want to switch over to the subscription. My suggestion for a better UX is to provide two options: yearly sub or individual rolls at single price point. Overall, FIMO is amazing and I’ll continue to use the rolls I’ve purchased.

Unfortunately, another one of my favorite apps has gone to a subscription model after years of supporting each and every film that has come out. I think you should offer legacy members at least an opportunity to purchase a lifetime option for Pro. I have no issues supporting you. I am just pushing back on another subscription. I do have subscription overload as many of us have. I will not be supporting Pro mode unless you give me a lifetime option.

I can’t seem to restore the purchases i’ve made using my samsung to my iphone? Thats a bit of a bummer… cuz u know i spent money on those filters :(

I love FIMO so much! The film effect is amazing but recently whenever I try to load a film or buy a new film it doesn’t load and takes a long time then gives an error, even though I purchased the film. FIMO is always up to date, so I don’t know what’s wrong, please check this issue. Thank you.

I love these analog camera style apps, and this is my favorite of the ones I’ve used to date. this app’s films are gorgeous, and the interface is pleasant to use, though a little bit clumsy in landscape. Still, I’m delighted every time I use FIMO and find myself trying to find excuses to take more photos with it. A few wishes: I’d love the ability to save an unprocessed version of a photo taken (perhaps the photo can be saved as “with edits”, so it can be reverted to unprocessed if desired from the main Photos app), and the ability to have embellishments such as frames left out (like how dating a photo is optional), would be nice as well. Regardless, thanks for the wonderful app.

I know that no digital imitation, app or program, could or would replace the real feeling of using an analog camera… but FIMO… for what it is, serves very very well.

And as a photography enjoyer/enthusiast, I am satisfied with this. Definitely saves me a few bucks from buying a separate device.

Thanks for building such a wonderful app. It is not just yet another film camera app. It brings back all the beautiful things from film era. One more thing I still want to have is having an option to save the original (unfiltered) image along with the filtered one. It will give me much more flexibility and confident to use FIMO for all the occasions.

this app does a beautiful job of recreating the look of classic analog films. There are a number of free film types available with no restrictions. Additionally there are others available for a small charge. All are extremely high quality and well worth it. I keep looking for reasons to take pictures just to see FIMO work its analog film magic.

I do have one request for the developer: please consider an option to import photos without changing the aspect ratio or adding a frame. I have photos shot in other apps that end up getting cropped badly when this app forces a particular aspect ratio during import.

Love, love, absolutely love. Unlike other app of its kind, NOMO for example, this app doesn’t need to pay for the extra membership, instead it only provides certain cameras to purchase. And every camera that’s needs to be purchased worth the money! The best thing about this app is that it releases holiday limited roll films. So festive! Thank you to the developers for this wonderful app.

The look and feel of the camera is simple and easy to use, while also being pleasing to the eye. Plenty of different film types to buy (I have most but not all), and you can try them first. A very happy customer.

I’ve had FIMO for a while now, and LOVE it. In my opinion, it’s miles better than Hipstamatic. Sure, it doesn’t have the combinations of myriad lenses, films and flashes, but it doesn’t need them. The films available are awesome. It does what it does well. My go-to for perfectly retro photos. The colors are rich and vibrant. I also love the black and white films.

My only wish would be the ability to save the original file as well.

Justame has clearly mastered the art of turning the iPhone into a useful and interesting camera.
Thus far, none of their cameras are innovative. They merely imitate what’s been done before.
Mind you, these emulations are incredible.
But they are still copies.
The world needs a new kind of camera.
One that makes animal noises.
When I photograph pets (cats and dogs), I have an impossible time getting them to look at the camera lens on my phone.
Imagine if my phone made a chirping bird noise a split second before the shutter snaps!
My cat would instantly look at the camera.
If the camera makes the same noise, my cat won’t look again, since she already knows that that sound is. Trust me, I’ve tried it.
But what if a digital camera were to cycle through different high pitched noises with each snap of the shutter button!
This is an app that everyone needs.
We all need better pet photos.

this app has quickly become one of my favorite apps to take photos with. But with the 15.1.1 iOS update you can no longer trigger the shutter with the volume up button. This is a small function but It made quite the difference for the overall feel of having an analog camera. Especially if you pair your phone with a Bluetooth shutter button.

I hope the devs address this sooner than later because I love FIMO and wish to continue using it as my main camera.

I think I wrote a review for FIMO before but I’m here to write another review. This is the best camera ever! I’ve only been using the EK 80 film because the colors on the pictures taken with this film is absolutely beautiful and makes the whites even brighter than the iPhone camera. I stopped using the iPhone camera and only used this. I’ve taken a bunch of behind the scenes pictures using this camera and it’s absolutely beautiful! I’ve been asked by so many people what camera I’m using and I kind of don’t want to share it because it’s my little secret haha

I switched to mobile photography recently, mostly because I cannot always take camera with me, and FIMO is just all in one.. I have purchased some of the presets and I dont regret any of them, image quality and film realism is awesome! This is really a quality app, I have used NOMO in the past but it does not come close to this, Ui is sleek, easy and fun, also being able to import already taken photos with another camera is really cool! It would be great if you somehow implemented video recording, that would really kill it, let there be one unique app for every purpose! Thanks devs

I have brought just about every roll of film on FIMO! FIMO is amazing! I’m a loyal customer! This is arguably the greatest app I have ever used! Please keep it around! I downloaded FIMO by accidence, but it do surprise me a lot! Its vintage style ui design is so dope!! And PAN100 is the effect I love most in FIMO! I deadly love such kind of black&white photo effect. The only complaint is that it doesn’t allow me to preview the effects before shooting. It’s confused. Hope u can fix this issue soon.

As a film shooter since the 70’s, you have some great looks to these simulations!! The only three things I would love to see in future updates would be exposure lock/ + or - ev , full resolution from camera and camera roll files that are up to 50mp and simultaneously capture Raw data and the processed jpg file. Great job developers!!

Having Portra and Kodachrome is one app is freaking amazing! I use it every day and it gives my photos not just a vintage touch of trendy VHS camera i see being used by bloggers, but a professional one with nice smoothness, warm colors and great texture!
