A very serious review of Forza Street

2024-12-16

Don't get me wrong, I love the Forza series. I actively play FH4 and seldom play FM7. But this is not Forza. This poor excuse for a mobile racing game had the potential to be so much better. It could have easily beaten out competitors such as Asphalt with their money hungry overlords, Real Racing 3 with their horrible limitations and shoddy graphics, and maybe even Grid Autosport seeing as the legacy ForzaStreet is upholding was one of the greatest. It would have been such a treat to have a game to rival Grid because of the experience of Turn 10 and Xbox. I was excited.

I was excited. And yet I was let down and I know I'm not the only one. This "racing" game is nothing more than a game of timing and following directions. Imagine CSR 2 but with corners and cheap nitrous gimmicks. I was disappointed to see that the car "purchasing" system isn't much better than its competitors either. I would rather pay money for the game up front to get a decent system of getting cards than have a free game that runs off of the worst system to plague the mobile racing world: cards.

If you like the Forza series, do not get this game. Get Asphalt 8 instead. It truly hurts me to say that but this game could have been so much more. The graphics are great and the vehicle soundtracks were probably pulled from some of the other games which I have no problem with. In truth, I'll still hold out hope for it. But until then, go play on your Xbox.

Disappointing

My first issue is with Microsoft.. after not having my account a while my information was a little foggy to try and login to my old Xbox live.. I’d been using the account since I was probably 11 or 12 also.. and when I tried to sign in it showed me all old information to remember my pass word.. I mean like my moms old phone number from before I had my own including my moms email.. at this time none of those are even active anymore and there aren’t any other options for verification.. My second issue is with the game physics it’s self... you have these world class super cars getting beat by the all infamous BMW T23i coupe or what ever that p.o.s is called this is extremely unrealistic for both sides.. yea it’s cool to have these jdm tuners passing super cars but it’s so unrealistic it’s not even satisfying anymore when pass a McLaren F1 in a Nissan s14... come on now did we forget the McLaren F1 was the fastest production car in the world at one time and the s14 has a small turbo sr20 not even breaking 300 horsepower... it’s simply disappointing when I first saw Forza coming to mobile i was excited I’m a long time fan of the franchise but.. the excitement quickly left when my 2017 Ford gt got passed by 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra...

This is disappointing.

I had high hopes before I downloaded it because I love the Forza franchise. Fh3 and 4 are some of my favorite car games I’ve ever played, even over NFS. So I’m scrolling through the AppStore and I saw this game and I’m like “wow, Forza for mobile!” so I got it. I’m not happy with my decision at all. There is little player involvement at all. I quit playing CSR because I hated its repetitiveness. This is even worse. Tap corner, release corner. Tap corner, release corner. Nitrous for cinematic views. It isn’t fun. Another thing is that I love the graphics in the garage, cars look great. But then I race and it feels like if this was a new console and I just went to an older one. The change is bad, guys. Really bad. The wheels don’t look right in motion, they look cartoon-like. The car looks like it’s sinking in the road and the lighting and graphics around the area aren’t great. I had high hopes because I have wanted a racing game worth playing on mobile for a while and when I saw the name Forza I got excited. Wrong of me. Now I’m sure this review will get buried and not a single dev would look at or care to read it, but I needed to express my dissatisfaction towards a franchise that I love with great potential making something like this.

Not really a Forza at all...

2024-12-16

Do you like Forza Motorsport? How about Forza Horizon? Well if you answered yes then I’m sad to say this is nothing like those two series. I was hoping for something along the lines of Asphalt 8 but was disappointed to find this game is nothing like that either. You have no control over the steering, or even the braking. All you can do is hold down and then occasionally let go of the gas pedal to take corners (that are also scripted) and it gets really repetitive really fast. The maps that you race on consist of 3 straight always and 3 turns. That’s it. Oh and if you were hoping to get whatever car you wanted and customize to the way you like it... well you can’t. You’re at mercy to whatever you get from the random car spins. Customization is locked behind the star rating which the only way you can be able to get a high star rating is by paying REAL money to spin the wheel and hope you get something you want. Stack all that super simplified gameplay on top of an energy system AND a wrench system that seems like it’s actively punishing you for even playing the game. Super disappointed. Download Asphalt 8 if you want a good racing experience.

Tap Tap Acceleration

2024-12-16

On my XB1, they said I’d get 50 points (half a penny) if I try out this game long enough to get an achievement, and I did, and now it’s erased off my iPad.

Along the way, I’ve learned I have NO FRICKIN’ IDEA what each of the 6 currencies do (except just to tape on anything with a red circle on-screen to collect or available to spend), I don’t know why I should care about 4 opponents or the super sexy reporter, and I don’t know this constitutes as racing. The entire game boils down to 2 moments in a 1-minute race ... how well you tap your accelerator at the start to keep it in the green (to earn a ridiculous nitro bonus), and if you saved enough nitro in between short spurts so you can blow the whole nitro reserve just after the 3rd corner. Timing your car to come in & out of curves just gives more nitro (which is the only actual variable in the race), and blasting your nitro doesn’t actually change the events on-screen, but only what static cutscene you see on the next strait-away.

In the end, PI doesn’t matter, choice of car doesn’t matter, and car tuning doesn’t matter, because it’s all about a couple of 2-second QuickTime events in the race.

What is this?

2024-12-16

Listen. I play all of the Forza games and when this came out I knew I had to try it. I came I to this knowing it would not be as good as the console games but looking at what you have done in. The last console games gave me high expectations. Once I got this game I looked at the story line and was getting Need for Speed heat vibes. It had a big resemblance to that game which really annoyed me because I wanted to see something different from this game. I don’t want to get too in depth about this but it lacks story. Literally it takes two races to be in some tournament. All the race AI is the same. No matter how hard they may be I already beat them. All of the card spins are rigged. I have gotten a ton and all of them just gave me retro cars. I started to think” hey these guys make console games. They might not know the mobile foundation just as well” but then the realization came in that you guys make games better than this for a living. To be honest it’s a pretty garbage game. Some people might like it, and some people won’t but I just don’t find the appeal here. Though I do hope you make great console games in the future.

Fun but needs work

2024-12-16

The core gameplay is fantastic- some of the most fun I’ve ever had in an arcade racer. The game is beautiful and sounds AMAZING. It does a really good job of setting up a “street racing atmosphere”.

However- the UI is awful and super confusing to navigate, and the game doesn’t explain much. There are far too many currencies in the game and pay-to-win options (literally every gameplay mechanic has its own currency and way of purchasing said currency). The upgrade system is really strange and seems rather contrived, and the customization is steaming hot garbage. I’ve also noticed some frame rate issues at different points, and on a brand new iPhone at that. And one of the worst things- whenever you start an event, each car you bring with you has 3 pips- that’s 3 races you can complete with each car (win or lose). The game offers “wrenches” to “repair” cars after those three races- except you have to spend wrenches according to the car’s star rating (1-5 stars) and it only refills ONE pop. I’d be kind of okay with it if it refilled all three pips, but it’s a blatant ploy to get the player to buy copious amounts of wrenches, and I find it rather insulting as a longtime Forza fan.

The game isn’t bad- but the microtransactions and pay-to-win is nearly unbearable and provides a simply lackluster experience overall, leaving a small tarnish on the formerly spotless Forza reputation.

Would be best game but need for speed no limits is better.

2024-12-16

My only issue is with the car leveling process from 1-5 stars. To get from a 3 star to 4 you’d need to get 5 of that exact car from the card spins and they need to be 3 star rated or else it takes more than 10. And it’s not exactly quick getting premium or class cards. Need for speed no limits is better because of the way they handle the vehicle upgrades by having a chance of specific rewards for races in each chapter to help upgrade. Forza just fix the ridiculously slow leveling process and at least give a 3star premium card daily so that whatever car lands on it will actually move up 1/4 of the way to upgrade. Makes no sense that you even sell gold when no guarantees on decent crap. I won’t buy pixels but if you were smart you’d figure out the upgrading issue. For now I stick with need for speed until an update with better options happens. I mean one section says guaranteed vehicle after no more than 10 spins. So at 100 gold a spin you want people to pay over 50 bucks and get only a 2-3 star car that would then require it to be spun on again 4-10 times depending if it’s 2 or 3. Game looks great but whoever did the in game options and everything is a complete moron and you’re cutting your fan base in half by being like EA.

It’s Forza in name only

2024-12-16

First off there is no steering, that is done automatically for you. So to start the race you feather the throttle to try and keep it in the green. If you launch in the green your nitros bottle is filled half way and you can use it. If you are in the yellow below the green it will fill quickly and you have a chance. If you start with too much throttle and are in the red give up as you can recover from that. When you get to a turn you let off the throttle at a certain spot to get a rating, perfect being the best. When coming out of the curve you press and hold the throttle at a certain spot and again get rated. The rating is very important as the better you do the more nitros you get. That’s it for controls, it’s timing on releasing or holding down the gas pedal. I gave it 2 stars only because of the ability to collect and realism of the cars. No true tuning of the cars just buying parts to get to the next level. This game is a major downer due to the fact that it sports the Forza name, and with that are certain expectations. This game doesn’t get close.

Good game with potential

2024-12-16

So I just got this game. I can see it’s already getting bashed by car enthusiasts and car game enthusiasts, and I sort of understand. I’ve played many car games, especially racing games on mobile, so I’ve had my experience with good and bad. This game has a lot of potential. The graphics are really good, the story line isn’t too bad so far, and the locations are really nice and well laid out. The amount of cars in the game is awesome too, and it’s real cool to have the opportunity to collect them. One thing I truly love is the garage set up, as you can display your cars in a really neat and organized way. However, as many others have mentioned, I too agree that the lack of player involvement in the game is lacking, and if steering could be added this game would be awesome. Would also love for more customization options such as suspension, wheels, and exhausts. For being on mobile, I think this game meets a good standard regarding car games, but I think that the developers can add more on and create a truly unique and awesome game. If you’re an enthusiast like me, this game is a great game. If you don’t care about player participation too much, as in it won’t stop you from playing a game, this game is also good for you. So yes, it might have its bads, but this game does good with what has come out so far, and it has plenty of potential.

Fun game but don’t expect a console experience

2024-12-16

This is a great game for your phone or tablet. Especially for kids (although the story scenes have a few words younger kids probably shouldn’t see-no F bombs, just PG).
Be aware that you do NOT steer in this game, you only accelerate, brake and boost. This is great for a phone, but the AI can be really annoying. Example: if you are in the lead, the AI will steer you out of the way of the car behind you to allow them to pass. This often works to your detriment, especially in a curve, and it will occasionally cost you the race. On the flip side, you can take advantage of this too.
Some suggestions for updates: I’d like to see more 1 on 1 quick races similar to the Rivals races where I can pick any car I want to race, regardless of the PI level. This would help me decide which cars I want to prioritize pumping resources into. It would also be neat to wager some gold, cash or even the car on some of these races (perhaps after you reach a certain level) so that you could acquire things that are harder to come by.
Overall fun game. I’ve been playing for a few months and I plan to continue.

Very high potential!

Mobile games are becoming less and less immersive, with games like Asphalt 9 showing perfectly the lack of player control and the arcade gameplay, and the move away from the almost simulator games like Real Racing 3. So I went into this fully expecting a game just like Asphalt 9: a very visually pleasing yet outrageously unrealistic and low-player input game. HOWEVER, what I soon discovered was a very simple game, easy to understand and master, yet with not only fantastically graphics, but huge selection of cars and a very fun, albeit fairly detached, gameplay. It also features minor realism faults as found in most all racing games, but I was delighted to find it avoided the outrageous physics of Asphalt and similar games. There is no ridiculous drifting, the sounds and movements in the cars are realistic, when the car jumps off an uphill road it doesn’t spread its wings and soar as many arcade games, but rather slams back down to the road in a far more realistic manner. Overall a great game, and FANTASTIC to look at, because between the excellent graphics and the outstanding camera work and angles, every race is cinematic.

Like Tap Tap game w/ cool looking cars

2024-12-16

A “driving” game this is not, more like a Tap Tap rhythm game. People complain about pay to play but with some practice and patience you can advance very far w/o paying. Early key is OVER tuning a car (took me a week to understand this) which unlocks upgrade events. Entry level upgrade events are vs opponents with lesser cars, so if your timing is average or better, you can beat them, and upgrade your max tuned car. You get 3 uses of each car per event. Quit the event rather than repair if you fail, come back later and you’ll have full energy to try again (fresh 3 uses per car). Login daily and you get many freebies including in app “gold” to buy stuff, free spin cards for random new cars, etc. All the in game types of credit “chips” are a bit confusing, but just click on the red dots indicating new stuff to claim it. Not any high skill “driving”, but eh, fun enough, good graphics, and short races so you don’t have to commit to long sessions.

OMG JUST LIKE A REAL STREET RACING GAME

2024-12-16

Buy this for sure!
I first saw the ad of the game in another game I was playing
And I downloaded it and the like, 2 days later A MCLAREN IN MY INVENTORY OF CARS I love love love this game there is NO negative thing in this game I have to say Forza street needs to be upgraded more this is not a negative thing it’s just I want more cars from different categories and I love how the new update is about classics! I love classics because they are great in durability but the break down fast. I like how there are different races from different categories! PLS PLS PLS update it more whoever invented this game. Even though it has some offers like a store with purchased things like gold and credits but it is worth the buy.
LASTLY THIS GAME HAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT THATS PART OF WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT!
I am nine and obsessed with cars and one thing you should add Pagani zonda and huayra and Koenigsegg trevita and also add bugattis’ and Ferrari’s that’s pretty much it thanks for everything forza street!🙃🙂

Great game I should recomrnd!

2024-12-16

Forza street is a (what else) a racing game with decent controls great music impressive grafics! If your finding a racing game with all the great things listed then... Go for it! I can't recomrnd this enough also by the way the plot development not the long as a star war movie also another as random as something more robust to say the least. Basacly what a spectacular game this is and I'm not saying it's because I only specifecly play mobile games (cause other mobile games are cheap lazy cash grabs) but if your a person who wants to at least try mobile games: Forza street is an viable option and with the apple M1 chip your gonna see some amazing things from just an ipad (or Mac) for that matter. I really wish it was controller compatible so I can use my Xbox series x controller more often than not.
