Unwrap Reviews

The way that Paul Hudson has structured the learning environment made it easy for me to understand concepts. However, it would be great if Unwrap synced between the iOS and iPadOS versions and if progress could be saved. Imagine if this were set up like his “100 Days of Swift”, except you would sign in and be able to pick up where you left off regardless of device or browser.

I’ve been following Paul for a couple years now on my journey to learn Swift. I believe he’s the first resource I found before really diving into it. This is a very good app to learn the Swift language and you’re learning from one of the best in the field. I love the explanations on wrong answers and answers not chosen. I especially love that your progress is saved in your iCloud account so you can switch devices and continue where you left off. There are no ads to annoy and distract you. Paul is very generous for developing Unwrap for free. Another thing I love is that if you email or tweet him with questions or suggestions, he actually answers back. Thank you, Paul for everything you do for us beginner/intermediate Swift developers!

If you’re on the move or just have a quick few minutes, this is the best app for some quick Swift lessons and review. The segments are short but concise and the daily challenges keep you...challenged. An outstanding app for Swift learning and improvement!

Can no longer skip questions that I don’t know the answer to while free coding. It forces me to answer them, won’t let me send the wrong solution, and if I hit “skip” it kicks me out of my practice module entirely.

There are a lot of great resources out there for learning the Swift language, but the this app app has been the best one for me! The secret sauce is the review quiz system at the end of each lesson. DON’T SKIP THESE REVIEW QUIZZES. It may sound strange that the review quizzes “teach” you, but try it out and see what I’m talking about.

Also, it’s amazing what you’re getting for free. Videos, quizzes, Dark Mode, iCloud sync, and Split view (to take notes).

I would like to see added: Bookmark a lesson to return to later, share out your review results with answer details (for your tutor), and a macOS (Catalyst) app.

The amount that Paul and Unwrap have been able to teach me in my spare time on busses alone is staggering, not to mention time sat down specifically to learn and with things like 100 Days of Swift. And Unwrap is open source too, so you can see how everything you learn goes into practice!

Unwrap contains very useful information for beginners that are wanting to learn in an easy and efficient way. You can study anywhere, anytime you want. I’m very satisfied with the lessons I’ve been taking. I have learned so much.

Very helpful course in learning the basics of Swift on an iPhone. I recommend using Unwrap with forums and books that give you more details on topics you might be stuck on. Take your time and make sure you understand the current topic. Very useful resource.

Unwrap is really good for learning Swift. It makes you read text or watch a short video, then go onto a quiz. Also, there’s like, levels in this learning app that make it quite addicting. I bet you could finish the “Learn” section in under 6 hours!

I am absolutely stoked with this learning tool. Paul is very effective at teaching the fundamentals of Swift. This learning tool is super convenient by being available on my iPhone and my iPad. The lessons are just the right length for understanding material that can be hard to grasp. Lastly the iOS platforms that run Unwrap contribute to repetition of learning Swift fundamentals which leads to increased retention.

I like how the questions are varied on the review (ie. not all multiple choice), and I wonder if there could be more interactive (eg. touch and drag labels) questions, and I wish the the true/false button would hide after completing the question with a right or wrong confirmation.

I love that Unwrap doesn’t assume you have any prior knowledge of programming! That’s how I started out on Objective-C.

Great tutorials, great videos, and — so far — good ordering of the concepts.

Two features that would be nice: 1) multiple user support, so different people can learn Swift and keep their progress separate, and 2) iCloud syncing of progress so you can continue your progress on other iOS devices.

Unwrap is so much fun, I love it! My iPhone SE has a small screen so I like to copy the examples and paste them into a Swift playground on my Mac or iPad so I can see the formatting better. Even so, this is an amazingly fun way to learn Swift. The videos are clear and well written. The examples are sprinkled with humor. Don’t waste another minute! Download Unwrap and learn Swift! You won’t regret it!

This is by far the best app available to learn Swift. Only have a few minutes? Take that time to walk through a lesson. Or review what you’ve already learned. I’ve been using Unwrap to learn Swift and keep it fresh in my mind when I don’t have time to use Playgrounds or continue developing my app in Xcode. this app let’s you track your progress and keep score. It also challenges you with free coding, error spotting, type checking and more! Highly recommended!

If you are lucky enough to find Unwrap, use it before looking any further. It is clear and easy to follow. I have just started using it. The material is well covered and the tests at the end helps make sure you’re ready to continue. I have used a couple of other apps which were good. Unwrap is much more and teaches more areas swift has to offer. Best app I have found. It’s surely the best way to learn swift. Thank you Paul Hudson. Well done!!!

I am learning so much, so quickly with this app. I have tried other coding apps, and it has been very difficult for me to understand certain concepts. However, this app does an amazing job at explaining everything. The features that allow you to practice the skills you have learned, are also super helpful. I find myself learning more, and forgetting less. Thank you for creating this wonderful app! If you want to learn Swift, you should definitely get Unwrap!

There is no doubt that Unwrap is incredible for starting with Swift development. I am also a subscriber to Paul Hudson’s Hacking With Swift + ($20/mo) and his incredibly well-explained tutorials have helped me build out my app, BankFolio, which is helping fund my college path AND helping me better manage my finances. If you’re looking to get started, then don’t waste your time on other learning platforms, go with Paul and then move on to Apple’s Swift Developer Tutorials, which you will have no issue understanding after completing Paul’s lessons.

This is one of the best designed apps out there. If you don’t believe it, TRY IT. I never give app reviews but this one is worth it!!!!!!! It is very well organized and professionally designed. It’s like a very well written book that you just love and can’t put down. Tutorials are short - videos are under 60 seconds, basically you don’t loose interest. You just want to continue studying and little review tests are fun because it checks how well you understand the material that was covered. Thank you Paul! I hope you develop some more similar apps.

You can’t do much better than Paul Hudson and his Hacking with Swift learning materials. The value for money is high. ( Unwrap is free, but better than many paid apps.)

The this app app gamifies a series of lessons from the Hacking with Swift site. The main focus is Swift syntax. Syntax is the special way you have to write statements so that the computer program will work. Every programming language has different syntax, different rules.

Don’t expect to learn computer science or how to work with Apple technologies or how to write an app. That’s not this app’s focus.

Fantastic app!
I love the way Unwrap breaks down the Swift programming language into small videos/articles so you can go through them quickly and then take a test to see how well you are retain the information.
And Unwrap brings you back with the daily challenges, links to great articles, and an awesome glossary of common programming terms.
Oh and did I mention there’s a sticker pack!
