Extremely Disappointed with latest Downgrade

It was an update but it’s actually a downgrade. To add the latest “great” feature, Follow Labels, Concerts has been removed. Who follows entire Labels? That’s completely useless! And now to find a concert you have to select artists, then select an artist, then select the menu, then select Search Events! Which then takes you to the Songkick website! And then it only shows you events for that artist! So if you want to see concerts near you, you have to then enter the city or cities you want to search? That’s a huge amount of effort compared to the old PAID way where MusicHarbor used your location and showed you events for multiple cities within selected miles from you. So Concerts is useless now and that purchase was a waste of money! You might as well just download the Songkick app and save yourself a bunch of steps! MusicHarbor just lost half its useful functionality and half its value. 2 stars because the Releases feature still works well.

Fantastic app for discovering new songs YOU want to hear

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It provides notifications and a feed for newly released songs, EP’s, and albums from artists of your choosing that can be imported from Apple Music.

The one suggestion I have for improvement is more customization. For example, I wish I could edit my feed and notifications to only include songs and albums written by my followed artists, not all the songs they’re featured on. An option to turn this on or off would greatly improve my experience, and other different customizable settings could benefit other users too.

My favorite way of tracking new releases from my favorite artists! BUT, there’s a problem…

I highly recommend music fans download MusicHarbor and use it to preview and save new releases from your favorite artists!
However, although notifications for new releases are advertised as a feature, this has never worked for me. I’ve had MusicHarbor for several months, upgraded to all paid benefits, and made sure my Notification Center settings are all checked for MusicHarbor. However, I’ve never once received a notification.
THe reason I’m posting only 3 stars is because after reporting the issue to the developer, he was very dismissive. I found that deserved a lower rating, and a review—explaining my experience.
I guess: don’t expect notifications to work, and don’t expect the developer to care?

Local library import fixed

The issue with failing to import the local library has been fixed, so I’m updating to increasing the rating. MusicHarbor looks good so far, but I haven’t used it enough yet to give it a real review. Just wanted to quickly update my low rating. Thanks to the developer for fixing.

(Previous review: Artist import from my local music library does not work. On first startup, MusicHarbor offers to import artists from my local library. I have a huge library, but MusicHarbor tells me that all the artists in my library have already been added. Which they haven’t, since no artists have been added yet. That pretty much makes MusicHarbor useless for me if I want to follow more than a handful of artists.)

The best app to keep up with new music

I don’t usually leave reviews but I simply had to cause I’m in love with MusicHarbor! Been looking for an app to keep track of new music releases and just about everything was broken or abandoned by developer or simply just didn’t work as expected. MusicHarbor is the one that not only works but it does what it does very well. Designed well and it handles a large music library like mine without much hiccups.

Love using it, and definite must have for any music lover who cares about keeping up with latest releases from the artists in your library.

I’ve been looking all over for something like this app!

I’m so glad I was able to find this, since I find the notifications music streaming services give for new music to be incredibly lacking. Given that I try to follow the releases of a lot of different artists, it had become very difficult to stay on top of them, and I’d often find out about releases at least a couple weeks after they had already happened, if not later. With MusicHarbor, that’s no longer an issue, especially with the upcoming releases tab!

Great App and Great Potential

Great start and hope MusicHarbor keeps improving. It’s an all in one that combines Numu and Songkick.

Suggestion: For the artists tab - would love to see this in list view and be able to sort it by recent activity and upcoming activity. And be able to filter by type of activity. I know u can get it on the feed tab in that format, but feel like it could be more helpful to see it by artist name that u can easily scroll through.

Keep up great work, I purchased full version so can’t wait to see what’s coming up!

Works like a charm

After discovering Music Harbor I never have to worry about missing out on new releases again. I follow an insane amount of artists and bands and there are surprisingly few ways to keep tabs on new releases for artists that you follow. None of the music streaming services offer a service like this to where you can see not only new releases but upcoming releases as well. It works perfectly and I couldn’t be happier with it. Keep up the great work!!

App shouldn’t auto-play music

If you leave MusicHarbor and come back, the music should pause. Especially if you had headphones in at first, switched to another app, and then came back to MusicHarbor without headphones on.

Pause button did not show up until I clicked another song, causing confusion since I was looking for said button. Eventually I just stared mashing stuff until the pause button showed up.

Maybe also just set an inactivity timer. If app hasn’t been active app in 5 minutes, pause. Probably should always pause because of people are that into the album, they should listen in Apple Music.

Perfect way to stay on top of new releases

Web services and apps have come and gone so I’ve had to switch around to different platforms over the years to try and keep a heads up on new releases. Now that I found this app I hope it sticks around forever and I never want to switch to anything else.

The integration with my library, the ease of parsing down my list of artists to I want to track and the ability to add tracks directly from MusicHarbor into new or existing playlists is just stellar.

But on top of all that, the ability to play previews of music tracks directly in MusicHarbor is a game changer. It’s the closest thing I’ve had in this digital world now that reminds me of perusing record shops back in the day when you could test listen in the shop.

Thanks for all the great experiences thus far as well as the ones to come!

Great app from great devs!

Since Record Bird shut down a while back, I’ve been hunting for something to replace it. MusicHarbor’s not just good enough, it’s great! It finds EVERY release related to your artists in any way and makes sure you know about them. The interface is beautifully simple. On top of that, I respect the developers support. Just last week I reported a serious bug and today they released an update with a fix and replied to my review to let me know the issue was resolved. Great software, great people!

A simple service done just the way I want it

this app is doing what I have wanted music streaming services to do for as long as there have been music streaming services—simply keep track of what has been released from the artists I follow, all in one place. No recommendations, no distractions, just the artists I care about. MH adds a ton of value to my existing streaming account as a companion app.

Removal of Concerts

Incredible app for tracking your artists new releases. The removal of the concerts feature is irksome—I bet it wasn’t used a whole lot in 2020 but as concerts ramp up in 2021 I sure would have liked the feature to stick around—and to replace a purchased feature with a completely different feature not related to concerts at all does little to soften the blow. Additionally, the remaining concert integration (searching SongKick one artist at a time) is really not a feature, just more of a small allowance for those upset by the removal of a robust feature.

I want old app icons back

In the most recent update the music note and other app icons were removed. I can only select from different music harbor logos and changing icons is now a paid feature. I preferred the previous app logo choices available. I understand MusicHarbor developer may be trying to rebrand to include the new logo, however I am not a fan. I would advice changing the name of MusicHarbor as well. this app is a great app functionality wise, but the name and logo are lacking.

Perfect app to find out about new music from your favorite artists

This is a great app that makes it easy to follow your favorite bands/artists and find out when they release new songs and music videos.

My only gripe is that the notifications feature never notifies me about new releases, even though it’s set up correctly. If that worked, MusicHarbor would be perfect!

Great app just missing one thing

Theres not many apps out that do it like music harbor. It really tells you about any song put out by the artists u choose. I just wish you would add a music discovery feature as good as soundcloud/spotify. This would hep me find some new gass songs🔥 a lot of the songs i listen to are just one hit wonders so I dont wanna know about all the songs the artist releases. Please add this feature, it would be life changing🙏🙏

Indispensable utility

Years later, I have no idea why Apple hasn’t purchased MusicHarbor & built this functionality right into Apple Music. If you’re a big fan of certain artists, this is absolutely a must have. Opening this app on Friday mornings is one of the my favorite rituals of the week, seeing all the new music released. It’s simply the best way to keep on top of new releases.

Works Great

I used to use another app that’s been defunct for over a year now and missed having an app that notified me of new releases. MusicHarbor is very user friendly and I love the simplicity. I’ve already added 30 songs I missed in the past month... Apps the import my library are usually prone to crashing as well but MusicHarbor imported all my artists pretty quick!

Keep up the good work!

App I’ve been wishing for

This is an essential app for those who are passionate about music. I’ve been searching for an app like Music Harbor for years, and it feels as though it was created just for me :) If you’re growing tired of missing new releases, download MusicHarbor.

MusicHarbor represents the gold standard for all who are passionate about music. I only wish that I could support said app more via a tip jar or subscription.

MusicHarbor is fantastic...and it’s only getting better!

I have been using MusicHarbor since the very beginning. The developer has always remained committed to providing the absolutely best product for users. Any bugs experienced are always fixed in a timely manner, and new features are worthwhile and never slow down MusicHarbor .

By

Great updates

First off, the developer is always making improvements that truly polish up the user experience. Active development is key as is the more personal touch from the developer to explain the changes.

Secondly, after using it for a year or so, I find it indispensable for music information about the artists I want to know more of. Great stuff.

Love this app!

Update: They listened! I can now add upcoming releases to my calendar. Great dev! Thanks!

Previous Review:
Been looking for a replacement for Record Bird and I’ve finally found it! The UI looks iOS native and love the customizable notifications.
One feature I miss from Record Bird is the ability to add an upcoming release to your Apple calendar.
