TLDR: If you want to call a foreign city government to get approved for a 5 minute bike ride, 5 stars probably!

Pros: tons of bikes

Cons: tons of bike because it’s impossible to sign up for the service, but the developer doesn’t think it’s important to notify you of that until you’ve downloaded Smou , filled in your details, added your passport, verified your email, and then returned to Smou to “activate the bicing service” - at that point you’re told it’s impossible to use a passport to rent bikes and to literally call Barcelona. Call the city of Barcelona and get help (no number provided, as if that would help).

I can’t count the amount of times I’ve had issues with Smou, it is so buggy and bicing is such a bad service, there are 1-2 electric bikes per 15-20 mechanical ones so if you were counting on that don’t. When there ARE available bikes, half of the time Smou has an error where it doesn't let you unlock bikes or says they are in service for days in a row. They customer service is a joke and 99% sure its an automated reply every time. I usually have to walk to 4 stations and won’t find bikes. I don’t recommend it

Smou ruined my childhood.

Muy mal. En 90% de casos cada !!! Bici electrico dice „en servicio de mantinimento“. Inestable.

Complete joke. 90% of the time u cannot use the biles available. Electric never. Crashes all the time.

I was very happy to have Smou because it’s an innovation in this OLD Europe, BUT:

1. it doesn’t remind you to finish your parking when you’re leaving the spot. Smou has maps and geolocation, I mean come on ;). I have paid 2-4 euro for nothing for 3-4 times already, because I was parking for 5 minutes but forgetting to finish my parking when sitting in the car and promptly driving on. Smou only told me 15 min before the time limit that the parking is finished, so I paid 1 hour 40 minutes for not using the parking, looks like a scam.

2. One time I tried your new cool feature to enter the covered parking and exit it just paying with Smou and not having to struggle with paper tickets and finding the payment machines. It worked just fine when I entered, it read my license plate and let me in without any ticket, but at the exit, the machine told me that there was no info about my license plate entering the parking. I ended up sitting in my car at the exit for about 15-20 min, trying to solve this with the information phone box because there was no staff in the parking and those guys on the phone were struggling to find my info about entering the parking as well AND of course during all that time, there was a queue behind me of around 5 cars waiting for me to exit so they can exit as well. Weird enough, however finally they found me and I solved it, BUT this wasn’t the end. I wend out of parking and just entering my home, I found out that in Smou , my parking counter is still going on and there is no phone number, nothing to contact and ask for help, except of a contact form which is taking 2-3 days (maybe even more) to get an answer. So, I had to spend gas, drive back to the parking, take a ticket (because I don’t trust anymore this feature in your app), talk to the information phone box again and ask the guys to end the parking counter in my app, so it’s very inconvenient and costly for me to pay for your guys’ fault. I don’t need to pay for your fault, it’s not my responsibility, so please make sure that you test Smou and it’s features before releasing it, so that your users don’t feel rubbed, scammed and etc because your fault should cost you money, time and effort, not mine or anyone else’s.

In overall, I had to pay around 20 euros for your incompetence. This money didn’t make my life, but you need to deal with your issues and fix them. If you’re trying to make people’s lives more comfortable then make it right.

This update has totally ruined what was otherwise a well working app.

Embarrassing is the word that comes to mind.

What a dismal app —- just dismal in every way from how difficult it makes it to sign up to a useless interface and a complete lack of functionality. The city government has really failed on this — Terrible job.

The route feature of the bici app does not work. It recommends routes that are dangerous. For example it recommended me to go down a road that doesn’t have any bike lanes when the next street over had a safe bike lane to use going the same direction. Needs to be improved.

Barcelona apparently doesn’t want the bikes available to tourists. Got Smou , has you put in your info, and then says you can’t use the bicing service with a passport. I don’t understand the delevoper’s response to the other review saying the same thing. Smou doesn’t say anything about renting an electric bike.

I went to the Bicing office to reactivate my plastic Bicing card and was told that I have to use Smou instead. Is this true? This would mean that we all have to take our phones to the beach if we want to ride a bike to and from the beach. I don’t want to take my phone to the beach, where it will get stolen while I am swimming! I want to use the plastic card to get a Bicing so that I can swim with that plastic card and not worry.

Smou can win a prize on the worst app ever. It never works, it reboots everytime i try to unlock a bike. And sometimes it asks me to log in even when im already logged in.

This company is a joke! They release an update for Iphone but not for Android and If you logged in on Iphone and then get your phone stolen and want to log in on your used Android it is impossible so your Yearly subscription is wasted until they release an update for Android or you buy yourself a new Iphone.

Smou has stolen my money and refuse to answer my email with proof that I did not go on a joy ride that day for 10 hours straight on a work day. Every morning I take the same route to the beach at around the same time and my trips usually around 7 - 10 min. I got to the gym and attached the bike to the station but it did not register, this has happened to me before so I ended up taking photos because the person on customer care line just hung up on me, I assume because my spanish is terrible. The photo of the bike securely locked to the station with a time stamp on the photo plus my history of having the same trip every day has not convinced them that I havent used it the whole day so I dont know what more to do. Do I really have to go to the police for a 40 Euro issue? The evidence that I have given them will prove immediately that I am not wrong but I dont even get responses on these emails. Stay away from this company this has happened to me twice in the space of a few months.

Me parece absurdo que yo pague por una suscripción de 1 año, lo utilice 2 meses, y como bicing cambio de dueño ya perdí mi dinero. Totalmente inaceptable
