App crashes upon launch.

When I attempt to launch the app on my Mac (OS is Monterey version 12.2.1) the app crashes less than a second after the sprite editor screen loads.
I attempted to reach out to the developer through the email provided on the support page of their website, however the email apparently doesn't exist as my message was bounced back to me.
I would really like to use this app as it seems like it could be extremely useful if it were to work, so I will happily change my review if a solution is brought to my attention.

Failed to import sprite

Just got this app and it is unusable. When you click the + icon to create a new sprite it says failed to import sprite.

This is a really good pixel art app! It is perfect for beginners, and pros alike! I didn’t get the app for what I am about to report, but I wanna say this anyway so maybe you can fix it. Whenever I search for something, using search, it crashes. This is the same case for my brother too, so maybe you can fix it in the future! But overall, 5 star app except the crashing.
