Love the app. Bugs happen. Where to report them?

I really like Pyto. I write Python for machine learning applications for a living and having this tool on my iPhone and iPad 4 mini has become a true delight. I've encountered a weird problem with loading csv files. I have many csv files for testing a program, which I load one at a time. Some load but most are viewed by this app as nonexistent. I've deleted and recreated them multiple times without success. Where do I report errors like this?

Not to bring completion to the discussion but I've also been using Pythonista3. I'm disappointed that they have far less module and library support than this app but I have no issue loading csv files as I need to. Only saying I know it's not the files. Help :)

The fact that this app seems more concerned about delivering comprehensive functionality makes me smile for sure. Keep it up :). I'll remain loyal !

Crashing

You can find lots of feedback online regarding this app crashing in many different ways. Right out of the gate, it crashed as I opened a file thru Working Copy (git), and immediately it lost knowledge about the 3~days trial and I had to accept the trial once again. A couple of files later it locked up, and I had to restart it. It now regularly crashes when a file is opened from Working Copy, sometimes the file is not opened in the this app editor, and sometimes this app crashes when executing a script.

This is way too unstable for my (any?) use. And note, I don’t mind paying for the pro version, but an app, especially an editor, needs to be rock stable for practical uses, functionality is worth nothing in a constantly crashing app.

Final comment: my iOS is fully up-to-date, was rebooted and I am using latest this app version. Pyto also crash in multiple ways. I don’t think this is a single minor bug fix, rather a fundamental problem that will require a ground up redesign of Pyto before it can stabilize.

Works well

Updated Review:
When I first used Pyto , it would not run even the most simple script. A day later, there was an update, so I gave it a second try. I immediately saw the difference. When you first start Pyto , the interpreter starts up and tells you the version of python installed (the usual), something that did not happen the first time. I was able to run scripts using NumPy and pandas without any issues. The interface could still use some work though, other than that it is a great app.

Initial Review:
Pyto cannot even run a simple python script: print(‘does this even work?’), let alone be used with pandas or NumPy. Plus, the GUI is also very, very basic. Don’t waste your money.

Showing your project 🤔

So I installed this excited to program a game and there was absolutely a horrible UI with crashes and most of all - No live view. This software is not good for game development and if its not supposed to be used for game development please tell me so im not wasting my time.

Disappointed heart break

I was really sold on Pyto and wanted it to work for me so bad. It has so much potential in the light of Pythonista. It’s a shame Pythonista has been left to die. I love that Pyto gives you access to all the PyPI modules. The world is your oyster, with a big BUT. The but is that although Pyto has a lot of potential it is extremely buggy. I tried working with it and kept reloading my script or force quitting Pyto and reloading it. It just gets old real quick and it becomes quite evident you can not rely on Pyto at all. I feel heartbroken, I will have to go back to Pythonista and hope one day Pyto get out of beta stage. I paid for the full app of this app. That will be my contribution and hope one day I can leave Pythonista for a polished version of this app. Cheers.

Impressive

Prior to finding this app, I would often plug a Raspberry Pi into my iPad or resort to SSHing into a remote machine for Python3 development. I tried some other “on-iPad” Python solutions, but they all felt kludgey or were missing key Libraries I needed like Pillow, or numpy.

What really won me over though, was the developer’s approach to creating Pyto and some of his others. Development is very open. You can visit the project’s GitHub page to learn more or potentially even contribute packages or bug-fixes.

Well done!

That three day trial got me hooked

I have to say, hands down, the best python coding app on iOS. I used the three day free trial because I had a sudden urge to learn python and it got me hooked. I know coding is easier on the computer, but when I’m trying to multi-task it’s really nice to be able to attend an online coding class and just follow along on my phone! Great app, and I highly recommend getting it!

Great app

I used to use Pythonista, but it seems support for that has been abandoned. this app on the other hand has updates all the time (it’s also open-source so I doubt it’ll ever go stale if it becomes popular enough). this app can still run all my old/Pythonista scripts just fine. It also has OpenCV which, admittedly, I haven’t used on my iOS devices yet, but what an awesome lib to have included!

TL;DR: Great app. Lotsa updates. Great set of libraries. 5 stars

Great app overall

This is a pretty good app for automations and such. However, it would be nice if there was a way to create an image from html and display as a widget. It would get rid of a massive learning curve and allow for better widget customization. I don’t know the limits on this or even begin imagining how this could be implemented, but it’s just an idea.

Thanks for the BIG Update!!!

Finally, you guys update the latest Python 3.10 version and you guys are the only “Python app” that have the latest version. Also, can you devs add machine learning and data science frameworks such Tensorflow, PyTorch, Theano, Keras, etc….
It would be great if you can more powerful functionality!!!

instability

good app for coding but its really unstable, there are frequents crashes and you can even be locked out because Pyto repeatedly crashes upon opening, i rebooted and the problem was still there and i had to delete and reinstall, some parts of Pyto is also slow like dragging the console log up and down which takes forever. I bought this to learn python but its giving me a hard time.

What happened?!

This used to be a great app. Now, if it runs scripts at all, it may run one—at most two—before the run button stops working and/or the console panel comes up blank. Sometimes closing Pyto and restarting helps—but only for one or two executions—and sometimes it doesn’t. My version is up to date. I have also removed and reinstalled with no improvement in performance.

PLEASE ADD SELENIUM MODULE SUPPORT!!!

Pyto IS 🔥🔥🔥

I love Pyto , the IDE is better than most desktop applications — and over the course of only a few months they have added some fantastic modules - the developer is excellent and the support for Pyto is unmatched.

I only wish that they added:

* Selenium Support. (I think all it needs is a WebDriver)
* A support Discord for users of Pyto . (this would make Pyto ’s support great (realtime))
* An autofill feature (like PyCharm)

These are only mere suggestions and would make Pyto become the best it can be, but again I want to reiterate that Pyto is AWESOME and THE best currently available for IOS.

Spectacular

This an absolute must have for coders on the go. I am incredibly impressed with how many packages come built into the application. I’m sure you already have plans to do this, but if you could add nltk and maybe tensorflow in the future that would be awesome. Keep up the great work! I will be using this a ton 👌😏

User unfriendly

I want to be able to edit files on my computer, AirDrop them to my iPad, edit them there, send them back.

When I AirDrop a Python file over, it won’t let me edit it—I have to go through the pointless step of copying and pasting the text into a new document before it compiles.

If there’s a bug, because I am not perfect, and I correct it, the compile button disappears. I haven’t figured out how to get it back and I think I have wasted enough time on Pyto.

Awesome, but have question

Totally worth the 10 bucks, but question: can I open/read other files on this mobile app? I tried:
open(“6.py”, “r”)
But open didn’t highlight in another color.

Pre-Sale Question

Hi, I would love to give Pyto 5 stars but I have a pre-sale question. The trial period was only for 3 days. First, thank you for a trial period, but for working people, 14 days should be a minimum. I download Pyto last Sunday. I had a very busy week. I never had a chance to try it until this weekend.

I never got to evaluate it.

I went to Pyto website but their was no support or contact us page. I thought I’d try asking the question here.

I use Pythonista. I love it. But, it’s limited. I’m working on a project that involves Django. Pythonista dosn’t natively support Django. I have to install stash. Which does work. But is quite buggy. Does this app allow for Django development?

Version 11.8 is completely broken

I just updated. Now I can’t open any existing files from any location. The REPL spits a dozen error messages when I tap on the expression entry field. Running a one-line Hello World script takes many seconds to compile and then spits a dozen unrelated errors about Matplotlib.

How did this get past testing before you released??

Pythonista does not have these kinds of quality problems. Their releases are solid. Every time.

Looks Like a Great App

Just did the 3-Day Trial and from a few initial tests looks well worth the $9.99. For anyone familiar with Python, this is far superior to any of the calculator or math apps available. Appears to be limited to the IDLE shell as the default, which is acceptable, but will try installing iPython for a greatly improved experience.

Need better user experience design

The user experience is a bit confusing and not that clear. I like the functionality though but needs some time too figure out where to do what and what is available and what is not.

I bought this as part of the package, the price is good but the user experience needs re-thinking.

Great app although small issues

Tried to print something and it is not even able to do that. Furthermore It keeps asking me to purchase Pyto again when i already paid. It pressed restore but its still not compiling anything. After a restart everything is working. Strange how that occured

Wants me to Re-purchase

I purchased this app on June 18, 2019. It worked great until about a week ago when it refused to run because it said I had not purchased it. Supposedly this bug was fixed 9 months ago. The author states that a refund will be made if you purchase it a second time. I won't purchase a second time. How do I know I can trust the author to give me a refund when they can't (or won't) fix the bug?

I am very disappointed.

Needs more frequent updates!

Pyto is top tier if it would support more common libraries. Pythonista is the only app that comes to Pyto. Has the best integration into shortcuts and runs smooth and fast. The dubugger looks native to iOS, 5 stars Once Pyto is updated to support more libraries.

By

Very good

Doesn’t offer quite the same or as many options as pythonista, and it’s a bit clunkier, but this supports local files much better. Also collects no data, so automatically 5 stars for that alone nowadays.

Good start

Hasnt been updated for a year. Wish this was really supported more! Videos on how to make apple watch apps / ipad apps / mac desktop apps. The list could be endless.

any chance a new version is coming out with better tutorials?
