Veggly – Vegan Dating App Reviews

I absolutely love the idea! Being vegan is hard and you can use all the support you can find. Veggly itself is a bit flawed. For one there’s not enough people on Veggly as of now, that may change in the future.🤞🏼 It’s a bit annoying how you can’t refresh the people you’re seeing on your home page and that you can’t remove someone you’re not interested in. I’m not sure if the major dating apps have a claim on the swipe, but it is truly the best method. I think fixing some of these design flaws may draw in some more people to use Veggly . Get creative with advertising. It’s nearly impossible to get a match rn and it’s a bit disappointing

I gave this three stars because I am excited that a vegan friendly identity driven dating app actually exists. That being said, I don’t feel like there are all that many active users on Veggly. I did a bio, posted pictures, liked a large number of users and I have not received even one match in almost 2 weeks. I’m pretty decent looking too, so you can rule out superficialities excluding me. I refresh my location in a couple of different places around where I am and I always get the same people being the exact same distance away from me- there are never any new users or fluctuations in where these people are Geolocated. I feel like unfortunately most people create their profile, get frustrated with the lack of other active users and then abandon ever logging back in again for long periods of time.

Like previous commenters, I’m not sure Veggly has enough users to actually succeed at its goal but I’m glad it exists!! Like am I really going to make a match with someone who lives 400 miles away? Idk probably not. Is that just false hope or should we all be more open-minded? I have a problem in general with the superficiality of photo based profiles when so many of my personal relationships have been with people that I probably would have just scrolled by. Guess I’m superficial too, but I keep that thought in the back of my mind when I’m scrolling through as well...

So far I’ve seen the most veg singles to choose from on Veggly - I live in NYC and still made my preferences wide. It’s a little clunky but hey, there are so few of us that I think it’s worth having a profile here and devoting some time too (a few pictures, brief bio and some stats!) so that the more people are on it will become the place to go to as I think we can all agree veg dating needs an app/voice.... these values are super important to me (vegan) and I would love nothing more than to have that in common with someone on top of a true connection! It’s not perfect but so far there has been a variety of people and I’m willing to forgive the bugs in Veggly because more people are joining :)

I just started using Veggly but it’s already so much better than every other dating app I’ve been on since I know from the start that every person I see has the same foundational ethical and moral considerations that I do. I’m so much more attracted to all these guys knowing they are not eating animals! I don’t have to see photos of dudes holding up dead bleeding fish anymore and I don’t have to think about how someone is cute but if they are going to have a problem with me being vegan. Issues solved! This site needs work but it’s still my favorite and I think I’ll make the most connections through it.

The good: it’s a (mostly) vegan dating app, and you can find who lives closest to you. The bad: there is no search function of any kind, so you can’t limit your search to vegans, for example. Which leads to another issue - they advertise themselves as a vegan dating app, but they allow vegetarians and even carnivores (the options are: vegan, vegetarian and “working on it”). Another problem: you can’t edit or delete likes or messages. And shockingly, you have to pay to see who liked you - not who sent you a message, but just to see who liked you. That is ridiculous. Finally, they do not provide the ability to delete your account, so you have to trust that they will delete your information when you delete Veggly .

Veggly is a poorly done imitation of Tinder. It has a number of feature and user experience deficiencies (which I won’t list since I don’t give away free consultation.) But the main problems are a lack of users and all the phoney bot accounts they use to try to make you think you are interacting. The grammar and spelling in the bot texts are poor. The bots also come and go quickly, but if you delete Veggly and reinstall it you will be contacted by the same bots, using the same bad grammar and spelling, for the same short periods of time. Pretty lame.

You would think that for the amount of time Veggly has been around the developers would have done a better job.

You will be better off using some other dating app and simply adding “Vegan” or “Vegetarian” to your bio.

Veggly works fine, only small improvements needed for smoother experience. Used it off and on for the past few years and it’s improved a lot.

Haven’t actually gone on a date but had good conversations. It’s hard when most matches are 300+ miles away from me. Which is odd bc I live in the SF Bay Area and I expected more veg peeps around me.

Leads me to my biggest issue with Veggly , , the user base. Still not enough people on Veggly , need to spread the word and build momentum before another app pops up.

I’m a website designer and have designed an app in the past, for context of where my critique is coming from. It’s odd to me that there’s no obvious way to say, this person is not a fit, and clear them from my feed. Once I do like them, they are still on my feed with nothing more for me to do but stare at this person who hasn’t liked me back 😂 This may be done to make it seem like there’s more people on Veggly than there is, but I think vegans are pretty used to a scarcity of other vegans. Other usability issues like small buttons and unnecessary logo placement. Otherwise, there’s people in my city here which is nice.

Great concept and all but Veggly needs to improve its functionality as it does freeze sometimes and I feel as if you should be able to see who liked you without having to pay for it like other apps do. More than anything improve the functionality but great concept.

This is a great app for the people looking to date within the vegan to plant-based curious community. It works like most other basic dating apps except they ask what type of plant-based diet you’re on (vegan, vegetarian, or in transition). If you read the other reviews you’re familiar with the issue of the small dating pool. Obviously, Veggly can’t do much about that beyond more advertising. But you can! Download Veggly and put yourself out there! 😁

Pros:

- A place to find veggie love. That alone is huge.
- Devs keep adding features. Where OKStupid keeps stripping features, it’s amazing that this app devs listen to reviews and add features now and then.
- Inexpensive.

Cons:

- Not a lot of people and a lot of obvious bots/fake profiles, sadly. Hope they find a way to curb this.
- User Interface could use more work. It’s improved over time, but there’s still areas that could use more polish. For example the sliders to choose age range and distance, it’s hard to be precise with those. Also likes live on the top left but super likes on the bottom? 🤔Bit weird to me, but not a huge deal. Lastly the weird floating button to switch from distance to last online is also a bit odd.

All in all, thumbs up.

I have Veggly 5 stars because it’s easy to navigate and I can choose to only match with vegan users if I want...and I do! Veggly developer is working hard to create a safe place to bring veg folks together, which takes time. Perhaps if we all advertise Veggly in our vegan groups, it would help to get more users...which would help us to have more veg options! ✌🏽💚

I just downloaded this today after seeing it on VegNews. It’s not very user friendly.

Photos should be able to upload multiple at one time instead of going back to camera roll every time.

In addition, I keep getting “unable to connect to server” errors in every part of Veggly . My internet works fine so this seems like not an issue on my end.

Also, instructions on how to see likes are not very clear and how to use the coins. I’m really glad to see a dating app like this but there are a lot of kinks that need to be worked out.

Seeing likes should be free otherwise it’s useless. Not everyone can afford in-app purchases. I also just bought a 1 month subscription and can’t see likes yet...

And I don’t like that the home page keeps automatically updating and changing my preference of distance to online. It’s really annoying while I’m trying to scroll through and see who is nearby.

Veggly is filled with fake accounts that will engage with your profile so that you pay for the service. You can notice obvious patterns with the fake users like when they ask where you live or what you do when that info is already in your profile. You can report the accounts to this app but they don’t end up removing them because you have to understand that these fake accounts help this app’s revenue by keeping users paying for the service. There should be an investigation and class action lawsuit, and refunds for every user that paid to respond to a fake account.

It’s not as polished as most of the other vegan dating apps, inasmuch as it only gives a limited profile to fill out (only 2 genders?) and it allows users to post their profile without having photos or profile information filled out, but it’s pretty much the only vegan dating app on the market, and I’m giving it 5 stars (instead of 3) because it needs more users and more community support 💚

It’s funny how it is accepted to say that you won’t date a smoker but if you say you won’t date a meat eater you are “intolerant” or “extreme”. Veggly negates that from ever happening. Food and eating is such an important part of a relationship and the developers of Veggly are brilliant to create a platform for those of us who truly love animals and wish to be with someone who shares that love.

Terrible design and doesn’t work half of the time. It seems like the developers are only trying to cash in on a market that’s neglected thus far. They’re also stealing your information from your pasteboard without you knowing it. iOS 14 will call this out so user beware! Eventually Veggly will be obsolete when newer ones come out due to its slow UI response and terrible UI and UX. Maybe go native next time instead of a hybrid framework and you’ll have much better results. These guys definitely put themselves first and not the user.

Absolute waste of time, and by reading the rest of these reviews and the bs replies from this app admin, i wish i wouldnt have downloaded this crap to begin with.

You cant view your likes?? Why tf would i PAY to see who likes me? I can understand paying for advanced features on an app but this is a stupid dating app, its free to make my acct but not to see who liked me? Con artists, just like a previous review states: they only care abt money and themselves, NOT the users.

Do yourself a favor and seek out other ways to meet fellow vegans online. Cos this pathetic excuse for a dating app, is NOT IT.

Veggly is really good and I’m so happy that we finally have a good app for vegans, vegetarians and people who are getting there! It would be nice if they had some kind of verification like Bumble and other upgrades like being able to search for matches in traveling mode but I highly recommend it as is!

Veggly works- It’s not super popular yet and that is probably because the technology/design is outdated and clunky.... but if you are reading this it’s because you know the struggle of finding vegan partners/friends etc- so this beats nothing! Sure there are some bots but the good news is they are super easy to spot- and every app has them... just report them. I have met 3 people so far and talking to a few others so I’m happy with it ~ just hoping they modernize the dang app soon!

I like the simplicity and straight-forwardness of Veggly . Nothing too fancy; I appreciate the ease of use. I also like that it shows you how many miles away your prospects are from you. I just wish more single vegans were using Veggly so there could be more people to pick from, but that's not Veggly 's fault. Overall, pretty good app!

Is this a joke? Wth is this ‘I’m not there yet’ bs? I didn’t pay to have to look through MORE meattards, cheagans and vegan fetishists. Seriously, What a stupid idea and worst part is that there is no way to change your search parameters to exclude them. There’s also no basic compatibility search options like kids/no kids, Want kids/don’t ever want kids. Astrological Sign, Smoking/no smoking, drinking/no drinking, religious preferences if any, marriage minded/dating only/polyamorous, straight/gay/lesbian/bisexual, political affiliation if any, OR THE ABILITY TO BLOCK ANY OF THESE PEOPLE FROM CONTACTING YOU...
As a woman, these are necessary protective measures and these are the most basic of the basics. This is hugely irritating. Please fix it.
I swear to The Spaghetti Monster and The Holy Toast if one more cheagan breeder contacts me and then gets SO angry when I say no... writing me novellas of BS and bad grammar....
