Was going to give a much higher rating. But then MSFTEvents lost all of my favorites/sessions that I had spent quite a while setting up. I’m left looking through hundreds of sessions again to figure out what to attend.
App also lost my notes for one session. If you touch the cancel button while working - right adjacent to the notes area - the notes are gone. No confirmation.
Not good. :-(
For MS Ignite 2018: MSFTEvents is almost forever syncing and when it’s syncing the schedule page doesn’t scroll smoothly. I had to leverage the few seconds when it wasn’t syncing to take screenshots of the sessions I wanted to attend and look up location info in my photo album instead... MS could have done a better job with all the fancy technologies they’ve announced.
Unlike the Ignite website, MSFTEvents only works if you are a registered attendee. Otherwise you cannot get signed in.
If you are not attending, use the Ignite website. Sign in with a MS Tech Community account and you can access the recordings of the sessions. I was hoping that MSFTEvents would provide that same functionality since the site promotes using it.
MSFTEvents is well thought out, well executed, and has a nice array of options (browsing available sessions at conferences, building a personalized agenda, maps of the event, syncing, networking etc).
There are two things I found lacking, one in particular:
- can’t exports sessions to my device calendar. This means I can’t see my day at a glance - I need to switch between the calendar and MSFTEvents . Very frustrating.
- doesn’t support split screen on iPad, again making it hard to see both the calendar and the conference events at the same time.
Still useful overall when attending Microsoft conferences.
Please change the view to easily show sessions available *by time slot* rather than a long, confusing, and sometimes overlapping list of sessions and times. This is the obvious way many attendees will want to build their schedule. Positives: MSFTEvents is fast and easily moves between session list and session description. Adding a session (once found) was easy.
“My Schedule” tends to jump around. Seams like it always wants to jump back to current time. Make sense if focus just came back to it, but it jumps back even when just scrolling through the schedule. Also, the “Download video locally” link doesn’t provide a way to save the mp4 on an iPad, it just plays the video.
Advertisements are irritating, events can’t be viewed until only a few days before they start and the session scheduler likes to scroll all the way to the top on its own. Other than that, it has a lot of useful information and looks nice.
No way to split screen? No way to add sessions, either all on your schedule or select ones, to your calendar? No way to copy session titles to make your own calendar items? Easier to use the browser based schedule :(
Does not sync with my calendar, and no option to share sessions with peers. I have to take a screen shot and text it over.... works well for searching for sessions. But I did that on my PC before I arrived. I really need MSFTEvents for real time activities
Very helpful app, I like the notifications and the map zoom in features. One complaint: when I am asked to evaluate a session and I respond that “no” I did not attend the session, MSFTEvents should accept that input and not require me to respond to the other questions that I cannot answer since I did not attend
MSFTEvents has been very handy. My one suggestion is asking you to share/see other attendee's schedules. If you are here with a group and you don't want to overlap, it would be great to see their schedule real time since your schedule changes often.
So far this is better than past experiences. Can’t wait to see how it works during the event. One issue was that sometimes you are prompted to login again. I saw this on New Message and something else I clicked on asked for my creds. Just a mild annoyance!
I know ignite participants can attempt multiple certifications but there is no tab to navigate
I really enjoyed MSFTEvents it provided me with lots of opportunities to grow as a persona and as a group of business operatives whenever we moved from suburbia I was very anxious and didn’t enjoy speaking to the people who worked at the events and only wanted to keep to myself which led to crippling dissatisfaction with my life and my self. But Jeremy (my ex-ex-husband) told me about MSFTEvents and now I’ve received salvation. lol. This has helped so much. Thanks Microsoft and developing countries.
Love,
Rebecca
Love the email your notes feature! Easy to use and lots of screen prompts.
