No improvements over several years

2024-08-28

The quality of the scans have always been trashy. I’ve been keeping ScandyPro on my iPhone from the model X through 13 pro, hoping for the miracle to come one day. But there have been no improvements to the scans output.
I do however use ScandyPro when I want to entertain someone - by scanning a face/object and then demonstrating the result. The deformed things that come out of ScandyPro will make any depression disappear.
That by itself can unlikely justify the $120 subscription price

Paying to save scans is idiotic

2024-09-08

Charging per save or a subscription to save is beyond stupid.

At least let me save in ScandyPro even if I can’t export somewhere else.

ScandyPro isn’t even that good at capturing a 3D scan but I thought it would be neat to show off the capabilities of the iPhone X.

Edit after also useless developer response:
I get it, apps cost money. I’m a software developer myself. Do you use cloud services per saved scan that incur a cost? It seems like no.

If all processing is happening on-device then paying to save the scan doesn’t make sense. Is there some other licensing cost you are trying to offset?

Barring that, there is no justification for a subscription model or per-scan charging.

Calling it a ‘Pro’ version but charging to actually use ScandyPro is misleading and obviously frustrating to potential customers like myself.

Not worth it!

2024-08-11

The iPhone has had lidar scanners in the camera system for years, but ScandyPro requires using the user facing camera, with no option to change it.

Also, paying for this every year is weak when you can guy a hardware scanner, not have these same limitations, and not have a recurring bill. If you could buy this outright and it had support for the cameras on the back of the iPhone Pro line, it might be worth it, but until then there are better option.

Good app / crap pricing

2024-02-10

ScandyPro isn’t polished enough to warrant the pricing model (looses tracking pretty quickly on iPhone X). Also, there isn’t any cloud processing or anything to warrant the pricing model since its all handled by the local hardware.

Lastly, it says it works on iPad but it doesn’t. ScandyPro starts by asking you to press the button but there is no button to press on the iPad. Tested with the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”.

Good design ideas are the haptic taps when it looses tracking.

The developers will tell you you don’t need cloud processing or networked connections but are charging with a model that acts like you are. You can get away with charging per-scan IF you are providing a service to each scan, but the developers are not. They expect you to pay for a subscription without providing anything on their end. This is a poor model and someone there knows it but is too stubborn to do anything about it. I imagine a competitive product is on the horizon that has their act together. Hell, maybe I’ll make it myself.

Not ready for prime time.

2024-04-10

Too many bugs. I’ve been trying to get a usable scan of my own head for several hours now, no luck. It glitches after anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes into the scan, no matter how slow I go. And after it loses tracking the whole entire process has to start over. And by process, I mean the iPad mirror has to be located, selected, saved again.

I’ll try it again some day when the work out the bugs. I’m. The mean time, going to ask Apple for my money back.

Totally Janky

2024-01-17

If I try to hold the camera still, I get continual feedback that I’m moving the camera too fast. Seriously? I’m holding it in place. Forget trying to move the camera. I don’t have a robot arm. I need to move the camera much faster. I’ll never even be able to get a good scan of my own face. Why would I pay to upgrade that??? This thing basically doesn’t work. It just looses all control and pretty much just bogs down into basically a waste of time. Just another useless gimmick trying desperately to get your money. Make the Free scan a little more successful and maybe I’ll pay to upgrade otherwise forget it.

Not the best option

2023-06-16

With all of the other free apps that do this same thing much better, it's really hard to justify paying for this sub-par app. It was probably the first, but it honestly feels so unpolished, and after using some other alternatives, this one is no doubt the worst one. It's just a lot less likely to get a usable scan very easily with Scandy Pro, whereas an app like Capture just yields a much better result. You can't charge a premium for something that is built into your phone. It's not some secret method that they're using.

Honestly, as long as you're not looking for direct export to your phone (which is useless and quite redundant imho) or for the wife range of colored model types (which can easily be converted into one another), I would opt for Capture by Standard Cyborg.

Definitely the best scanner app out there but the doesn’t mean it’s good...

2024-09-18

Would be 4 stars but you can only save a 3D model once a week for free.
You don’t need an iPhone 12 for it, and the features that are available for the iPhone 12 are horrible.
The iPhone 12 exclusive feature “world scan” barely works and isn’t even fun to play with. It’s impossible to get a good scan without a proper setup. The only reason I put it as 3 stars is because it’s the best free scanner app you can get on your phone.
The amount of adds the devs can get away with because there isn’t a better alternative is not cool.
Besides from all that ScandyPro is not that bad
I actually think it’s a really cool app, it just needs a little more to become a great app.

It worked okay but crashes too often

2024-06-03

I’m not a pro user, but ScandyPro to me seemed a little cumbersome to understand. It had a thick learning curve (for me at least) I found other apps that are more user friendly, and do not crash as often. I spent some time scanning my bathroom, the smallest room here and once I was done, when it tried to render, ScandyPro simply crashed. That was after several uses in the past (playing around with ScandyPro ) and so I simply deleted ScandyPro .

Interface not completely functional

2024-07-20

The clean look is compromised by the loss of function when selecting a saved scan the scanned object icon in the scrollable menu disappears and turns black then saved scan edit and upload to Sketchfab option buttons are clickable but not visible. Was looking for a way to delete a saved scan. Maybe I have to delete ScandyPro and content using the iOS and reinstall from AppStore?

Its good but could use some fixes

2024-04-28

ScandyPro itself is really useful but I wish there was a way to flip the camera so if someone can help you it is much easier to do scans and I wish there was a way to do a endless time limit for when you put the delay

Problem with in-App purchase

2024-04-24

App works okay. However, it keeps asking for my iTunes password - I suspect it’s not handling the Apple receipt correctly and has to re-download it every time. That’s a bit annoying, enough that I don’t want to continue paying.
Update: thank you for the response. I appreciate it. I look forward to the update that fixes the receipt issue. In the meantime, I upped the rating :)

Great App

2023-12-22

I love ScandyPro for 3D scanning. I have been looking for something like this for a long time. My only improvement suggestion is to be able to use the other phone camera (if possible) so I can scan other objects.

Awesome!

2024-06-27

I love ScandyPro ! I’m doing full body scans – is there any chance that we could have a new feature to customize the time on the self timer option, or have additional 15 second increments all the way up to two minutes? My turntable isn’t fast enough to do a full circle in 60 seconds which is the max limit in ScandyPro right now. But truly an amazing app anyways!

Front Camera

2024-07-12

I really love ScandyPro, and use it a lot, but I was wondering why the camera on the back of the phone isn’t used at all? Again, amazing app, and I love it.
Edit: I have gotten an answer and that gives a perfectly good reason for not using the world facing camera, in response I am raising my rating to 5 stars

Wow. Magical.

2024-07-13

This is the first time I’ve ever used a 3D scanner. What a cool experience!

I read a few of the more helpful reviews as well as ScandyPro description before downloading. I garnered a good idea of the limitations of the tech and my expectations were well met.

On a tangential note (because I gotta say something about this), I’m saddened to see that ScandyPro has another slew of ideologically motivated 1-star reviews.

The process of creating a product is deeply personal; putting oneself out into the world is, I believe, amongst the most courageous of human endeavors.

To those who have (or are about to) leave a 1-star review with accusations of price gouging and the like, please take a moment and dig for some empathy. There are human beings on the receiving end of your words. They were apparently captured by the idea of bringing something new into the world. They then spent a bunch of time (seriously! A buuunch... likely hundreds to thousands of hours pecking away at a keyboard). And they care deeply enough about the work to have continued working on it long after its initial release. How they present it to the world is informed by their own preferences, which likely are quite different from yours or mine. That certainly doesn't make them villains.

To the devs: thanks for giving me an awe inspiring moment this evening. Keep digging into yourselves. You're making great things.

Best,

—Jedidiah

Scan everything, you'll be glad you did

2024-07-12

No seriously, scan everything! It's super convenient being able to pull your phone out and take measurements of your stuff whenever you need. Took a scan of my house plants because duh. Weeks later I was able to get the perfect container while I was at Target since I could just pull out my phone and measure their planters! There's always room for improvement in any app but I love scanning all the things, it's awesome.

Best 3D scanning app in the App Store

2024-06-29

The best 3D scanning app of all the ones I tried. A year sub costs way less than hardware attachments that offer comparable quality scans. Scan quality is excellent. No hardware needed. I can edit a scan in ScandyPro easier than on my laptop. I’m using ScandyPro to take scans the way I would pictures. Awesome.

Amazing

2024-06-27

I am a 3D modeler and Scandy seems to prove very useful for my work. While Photogrammetry is great and yields amazing textures it can be really frustrating when you take all your pictures and the model doesn’t work out, Scandy is fast and simple which is perfect for quick models. Now if only apple would get decent cameras ( come on Apple, get with the program!!) for use with textures, but that’s a huge mishap on apples part, not Scandy.

Worth every penny

2024-06-29

I normally hate subscription models but I tried Scandy once on my face and was blown away. The processing speeds and customization options are unmatched in ScandyPro
Store. Couldn’t be happier letting friends and family try it on my phone. It’s a very capable piece of software

Can’t figure out how to make the rear camera function work but it’s still 5 stars in my book.

The Best

2024-06-29

I researched nine 3D scanner apps in depth, selected three to test. Among the three, for the same amount of effort, and no prior experience, I got unusable results from the other two and near perfection from this app. I tried each app three times in a row, adjusting as I learned how to use each one. Only this app gave me a result I can use.

Mind blowing possibilities

2024-07-12

ScandyPro gives me the incredible ability to carry around a powerful 3D scanner in my pocket. ScandyPro is both fun to play around with and provides incredible opportunities for 3D artists to integrate real life people into our work. I will be using this for design, animation and more and I look forward to seeing what the innovative team at Scandy comes out with next.

Superb

2025-10-21

I did not read any instructions; I just pushed the scan button. ScandyPro is brilliant. I am sure I will improve, but I really feel the scan I created is Something Worth Exhibiting. (I should mention that I did give a lot of thought to the subject matter, and that I approached this as a painter, more than a producer of AR.) onwARd!

Getting Ready but not ready

2024-12-03

App is slowly improving , its still not as reliable or easy to use as some others but its far from being the worst and seems to be slowly improving
. ScandyPro developers have made some weird/poor choices.
ScandyPro has a tendency to get easily confused It is very hard to get even a half way decent scan without luck and lots of practice when compared to other 3d scanning appa.
Also, I have one BURNING 🔥 question: Why is a 3d scanning app an 🔞adult / explicit app? What explicit adult content is contained within ScandyPro to warrant a adult ⚠️ 🔞👯‍♀️🔞⚠️rating? Why is this adult content even in a scanning app and how do I access it? But in all seriousness this excludes ScandyPro from being taken seriously by myself since if its unfit from any work, school or professional environment, how can it possibly be serious tool?
