Best version yet but...

I like almost everything about RolandGarrosOfficial, and in particular being able to touch a players name or picture and getting the player info. I also like the stats which, unlike the ATP app include winners & unforced errors. Yay & thumbs up for that. HOWEVER I wish it were possible to see the H2H between players in the match (or schedule) page.
Another thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is an annoying « bug » (at least from my perspective)—>the fact that the score of a match disappears from “Live Scores” page the very instant a match is over BUT it doesn’t appear on the completed match page for a good while. VERY frustrating when you go to check a score of a match that you know has finished and can’t find the score anywhere in the entire app!!

Hard to use

I was hoping for a standard “schedule of play” list with player names, time, and venue, but instead we have a seemingly endless list of “upcoming matches”, each with large pictures but no other info. I spent several minutes scrolling through the list, and then gave up. Why reinvent something that works? Also, some of the matches that already got completed still show up in the “upcoming” list, and the results cannot be found anywhere. In the completed matches list, it looks like the sorting feature does not work properly: when you select today’s date, RolandGarrosOfficial still shows yesterday’s matches. Apparently, you can only sort using a single parameter.
Overall, it looks like the interface became buggy, needlessly more complicated and less informative.

Awful as everyone else seems to agree

We are looking for an app for the tennis tournament not a photo album. Whoever designed RolandGarrosOfficial was not thinking about usability. As nearly everyone else has noted the photos seem to take precedence over the information. Match data layout is ridiculous - it makes no sense to have to scroll down through at least four screens to see all the data. I cannot find Roland Garros radio anywhere, and have resorted to listening to it through TuneIn. I’ll stop here, to give you more time to go back and rewrite RolandGarrosOfficial . Y

Shockingly terrible

Congratulations for being the worst app of all grand slams in the 2nd consecutive year!(I assume Wimbledon and US Open will keep their standard as last Year’s)
1. When you want to see today’s results, even though you have selected the time frame(today), it still shows results on the previous days after today’s results. Only show the results on the selected day please?!
2. No overview of any draw. Really? I know you must think it is fancy when you swipe from the right it will show the draw in the next round. But there isn’t any way that you can see the whole draw. Oops, sorry, just want to see the whole thing, from the first round to the final, in one screen please?!
3. All info is not available after a while in RolandGarrosOfficial . Happened more than 5 times, when you’re looking at the scoreboard(maybe it is on a breakpoint or match point), then “boom”, your screen shows “info not available everywhere”. Come on please, just want to enjoy the critical moment and thank you for ruining it!

Better than nothing? But unreliable.

Better than nothing, I guess. But compared to the apps for the other grand slams, this one is less user friendly and less reliable. It doesn’t consistently provide match alerts for favorited players - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Or it will tell you that players are warming up for a match, but nothing else - no match start, no scores, no result. Figuring out who is playing when is also more cumbersome, and there’s no integration of video links to watch live - which may be more a function of TV rights. The poor app combined with the limited ability to watch live matches in the US (only one match broadcast at a time unless you pay $100+ for a special Tennis Channel package), means RG is the grand slam I follow the least. My sense is they focus more on the in-person experience, which is fine, but not so much during a pandemic when most fans are remote.

Developers: Be considerate of mobile users

Even though it seems there have been a number of updates for those in attendance at the tournament, the developers of RolandGarrosOfficial need to be more considerate and think more about RolandGarrosOfficial experience for those that are using it most!

In prior versions, I was able to easily find and use the live radio feed, see live scores and statistics for a match on a single screen on my phone without scrolling for mindless images of the players headshots, and view the draw in a comprehensible way.

Part of app developing is to make it easier and enjoyable for the mobile user (those NOT in attendance), not just for those at the tournament. Based on one of the questions in RolandGarrosOfficial review survey “when was the last time you were at Roland Garros”, it’s clear the developers have not given any priority to their key audience of mobile users that are not physically at the tournament. PLEASE do a better job!

US coverage

Peacock is only offering spotty, tape delayed coverage, and many people are upset about that. There is the wonderful coverage on the tennis channel but not all can fork out $100 a year in addition to paying for Internet and streaming TV. I am grateful for the excellent RG radio coverage, and if I ever have an opportunity to stream the matches live I will be listening to the RG radio commentary in lieu of other broadcasters.

Meh!

1. The 202O app takes 6-7 seconds to open. Really! Which of your other apps take that long?

2. To find the scores of matches live or completed, you don’t select Scores like the other Slam apps, which is intuitive; no, you select Matches. OK, not unreasonable but not in line with other Slam apps.

3. But the most annoying feature is that the user can’t select favorite players unless you turn on notifications. I do not always want to be “dinged” from 3 AM - 12 noon Pacific Time with notifications. None of the other Slam apps require this. Hey here’s an idea for your SW engineers: have a feature where the user can review their Favorite Players’ results can be reviewed in a single “click.” Think about it.

Could be better

I like having an app to supplement my viewing of Grand Slam tennis. I cannot attend in person, so I can't judge some of the features. The other slams use IBM for analytics and present the information better. The thing that most annoys me is the inability to increase the font size; it makes it difficult to read the articles.
Although it now allows me to have more favorite players (now that the field has shrunk), I was initially limited to ten players -- it made it diificult to follow some. The listing of upcoming matches also needs to be better presented.
Looking at other reviews, it seems that many -- but definitely not all -- if the issues have been addressed.

What A Disappointment!

While an improvement on the abysmal abomination of last year, still lots of room for improvement.
The weirdest thing is after a match ends, it seems to take as long as 45 minutes for it to appear among the list of Completed Matches.
The Schedule is filled with pics of the players, mostly showing the torso with less than 10% of the oval area devoted to the face. While this approach displays the bust of the Ladies, it does not otherwise help in recognizing the competitors, many of whom are unfamiliar. A change in priorities would be appreciated!
Also what are the “Titulos”. It seems this is French for More Information: why not just drop the Franglais for the English version of the website.

By

Greatly improved over last year’s

I would like to give them credit for “most improved app,” but really all they had to do was look at the other slams’ sites. Not sure why it took years for that to happen. French hubris? Several navigation “quirks” have been corrected and in general, the information is more complete this year. Now if they could just find a native English-speaker to proofread the English text. Sigh…

Terrible app

RolandGarrosOfficial has an awful interface. Very lazy developer who cannot even be bothered to make an iPad specific app. Instead there is only an iPhone version that does not fill the screen on an iPad and even on an 11 Pro Max looks awful. In particular, when viewing live or completed scores or the draw, there is way too much white space and too little information displayed at one time. And the website using Safari is justvas bad. It appears that both app and website were designed for the smallest phone. This type of lazy development is becming more and more common these days.

Schedule

This is the first time I’ve ever downloaded RolandGarrosOfficial for a slam that doesn’t include the schedule of play broken down by the court. How is anyone supposed to know when the matches they are interested in are going to start? RolandGarrosOfficial is pleasing visually, but it doesn’t provide all the information that I’d like to know. Update: I found out how to view the schedule under the upcoming tab. I get that the organizers wanted to set Roland Garros apart from the other slams and have a different aesthetic, but I don’t care how cool RolandGarrosOfficial looks if I can’t easily access the info I want to know quickly. I’ve never had to work so hard to find out info about a slam.

Best App ever

Been to all 4 grand slams now (woohoo!) and this is by far the most helpful and useful app. It’s really user friendly and makes it easy to keep tabs on multiple matches at a time. This really sets the bar high for the others (I don’t even think AO has an app at all). It’s so good that I’m writing my first app review. The only way it could be better is if it sent me $5 each time I use it.

Matches disappear

Some matches end, they are taken out off live and are never posted to completed. This bug was already in previous years and is annoying as it forces us to drop RolandGarrosOfficial and go to the computer to find out a result.
I just added 1 star as, after today’s update, the disappearing matches just showed up. Besides this issue, this is a pretty good app. We’ll done, guys!

Amazing

RolandGarrosOfficial is one of the most essential absolutely I’ve seen ever I cannot believe that I can pick up the highlights and the stats and also the videos that you can watch over and over and over again to improve your own game and see your most like stars this is one of the greatest apps out there.

Found app very useful.

Do not know why everyone had problems with it. Found next days matches and was able to buy tickets at the last minute on RolandGarrosOfficial. I found it very easy to use. It did all the things I needed. It had scores of the current matches and completed matches. Then showed upcoming matches

Used it only the last week if Roland Garros.

Merci

Roland garros is ok

The Roland Garros app is ok it will better if they had streaming service instead of radio service and the store needs to be updated so that American customers can purchase items from the Roland Garros official store which right now is kinda difficult because is a foreign store store you need to fix the glitches and bugs in your web site and make it more international available to Roland Garros customers all over the world juggalos.
Go Nadal. 😃😄🤩
Sincerely,
Yaagul E Davis .

Nice presentation on the draws

Note to RolandGarrosOfficial development team. I don’t understand the negative reviews. I like the presentation on the draws. Easy to see the brackets and follow your favorite players. Also I like the font on the scores as they are easy to read during my late night peaks at the scores. Nice work. One request can you increase the font on your articles. Thxs

Subpar

After declining fantasy tennis option multiple times, it continues to pop up almost every time I check scores, which is extremely annoying. It’s not user friendly & at times getting to live scores can be a chore. On the other hand, it’s good about getting next day’s OOP up when released by tourney, and once you find your way to live scores, it’s fine. There’s a lot of excess “garbage” it calls “news” that is distracting from the tennis being played. I haven’t noticed rain delay news so can’t comment on that.

Disappointing

Maybe I’m remembering some other Grand Slam’s app but I thought it was better last year. My main issue is that, while I can tell who’s playing on a given day, I can’t tell when. One of the other GS apps not only gave the time, but gave the time in my time zone! That was awesome! Another area that needs improvement is Players. I’m not sure why I had to wait until the tournament started to pick more than 10 favorites but at least I can now. Too bad I didn’t know that earlier. I spent some time narrowing my list to 10 before the tournament started. Also, most of these players have been around long enough to have some data on their pages. And not data in which they’re only mentioned in passing (example: Bob & Mike Bryan- the only “data” on their pages is an article about Serena & Venus Willams! Bob & Mike ate named once near the end of the article).

On Schedule page...

Please do not show the scores of finished matches on the schedule page. We can find that on the match page. I would like to see what matches are on the schedule without seeing the scores of previous matches because we may have missed previous matches and would like to go back and watch them on demand later, if we were working etc.

Good app but needs a few tweaks

I’m glad to have RolandGarrosOfficial , enjoy the match statistics and the timeliness of the live scores. However, the Completed matches tab seemed disorganized to me, I had to scroll up and down to find matches that had just completed. I would prefer the most recent completions to be at the top of the list. Also, it took a while for matches to transfer from Live to Completed

Hope It Gets Better

In January, almost everyone agreed that the Australian Open app was the worst sports app of all time. I hope the Roland-Garros app learned from that and does a lot better before the tournament starts. For staters, it would be nice to replace all of the gray silhouettes of the players with photos. Also, the English translations could be cleaned up a little. For example, I think “direct faults” are “unforced errors,” and “tables” are “draws.” Other than that RolandGarrosOfficial looks pretty good so far.

Oh, but for cable and ESPN

Yes, yes- ESPN has had this contract since, what?, the 70’s? Times have changed. That the SLAMS aren’t available to anyone, anywhere unless you pay a fortune all year long with cable companies that give patrons 300 stations of mostly junk, is ridiculous.
They could include the major tournaments to highlight other sports packages. Or make them available on their own? SOMETHING!!
