The 16 next best teams at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will each be granted a place in 1 of the 4 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in 2020, where they will have another chance to qualify for the Olympic Games.

As such, the top ranked team from Africa, Asia and Oceania respectively and the top 2 ranked teams each from the Americas and Europe at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will all qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The Official Draw for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019, taking place following the conclusion of the Qualifiers, will see the 32 teams divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each for the Group Phase.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China will be the biggest edition of FIBA's flagship event with a record 32 participating teams.

For the first time, the FIBA Basketball World Cup will qualify 7 teams directly for the following year’s Olympic Games.

The Final of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will take place in Beijing on Sunday September 15 2019.
