I have no idea how myLIBRO passed review. It’s literal trash and can’t do anything it purports to do. It’s poorly designed and poorly executed. Stay away, if you can. If you’re a fellow Seattle resident and want to try using this to reserve books for pick up...I feel for you. We’ll get through this together. I really cannot understand why SPL is using this piece of literal trash.

Update, as the developer asked me to share specific issues:

There is no way to see what books I have on hold. Even if I navigate to that book, I can’t see that I have it on hold unless I try to hold it again. The UI is garbage, and UI elements are always falling over each other. Searching doesn’t really work. Overall, just useless ugly crap. Please redesign the entire app and codebase from the ground up.

Update Broke It

The latest update to myLIBRO is a major step backwards. It isn’t working correctly currently, as holds which are ready for pickup on one screen don’t show up on the pick up screen.

But that isn’t the worst issue. The worst issue is that if you have multiple people you are trying to place and pick up holds for, say like with my three children and my wife and I, the number of steps you need to go through to see the holds that are ready and then schedule the pick up is doubled with myLIBRO. I am so thankful our library is switching to in person pick up very soon and I won’t have to continue using this terrible app.

Formerly, I would have given myLIBRO 5 stars for ease of use and convenience.

Since the update 2 weeks ago, I’m no longer able to message my library ”I’m on my way” nor when I arrive am I able to message “I’ve arrived and I’m in spot #_” . I am now reduced to phoning the library and telling them that I have an appointment, my name is_ and I’m in spot #_. Where’s the convenience in that? I may as well go into the library.
You need to fix this in myLIBRO , please.

Re-enter Library Card Over & Over

You have to re-enter your super long library card number EVERY time you want to re-open/use myLIBRO . Who the heck has their 15+ digit library card either a) memorized, or b) with them all the time??? You guys need to develop usernames + passwords or make it possible to “remember me”.

That being said, myLIBRO has made it possible for thousands to access books since libraries can’t fully open so cheers to the developers for that.

Some UX issues

Last Friday evening, I picked up my phone to see when my library books were due. Before I could do anything, I had to log in again (Ugh! Didn’t I just do that?) Then I couldn’t find the part of myLIBRO where I could look up my books. Turns out it’s under “chat”. You have to ask a chatbot a question every time you want info (don’t people love typing questions to chatbots for simple tasks?) This feels like an app that’s trying to be edgy for the sake of edginess and isn’t testing concepts with real library patrons. Please just make the basic stuff easy and discoverable. Thanks.

God idea but poor execution

There is apparently an add library function however, you can’t actually add a card from another library. When I entered my Seattle public library card, I subsequently became incapable of entering my king county library card. In addition supposedly you can add another family member and then toggle between the accounts. However, when I added my son as a patron there was no way to actually toggle to his account. His library card is visible but I can’t select it to schedule a pick up time.

When will multiple system registration be available?

Many people have cards with multiple library systems in metropolitan areas, and this app has been marketing to a ton of systems for curbside pickup. Unfortunately, despite spending time and money on marketing, they didn’t take this into account. I still can’t schedule for KCLS and SPL, so this is only 50% useful. Would like to see less defensive developer responses in the reviews and more actual implementation of this feature, which patrons need.

Super convenient, and easy to look up & check out books. Never had issue with myLIBRO . It updated you rather quickly & loved the fact you can browse through different libraries in your town. myLIBRO actually made us go to library more often. The only thing I found was you could never schedule a pick up on the same day you checked myLIBRO once you were notified the books were ready. It’s probably to give the staff enough time, even though they had slots open for the same day.

I personally liked the graphics of the previous version only because it was visually beautiful.

The update looks boring, I do however like the idea of the icons for type of books on the new version. I have yet to explore the new version. So far I saw more books I think....

After getting help to find where to add multiple card holders it was easy, however I would not have figured that you can swipe the profile box unless I had done this by accident.

Where to find all the books in all accounts at once would be great. Being able to see previous books taken out would be fantastic but maybe that would just be to much information to keep track of.

I found librarian wants you to use myLIBRO , but then they also want you to call for pick ups, which defeats the purpose of app.

Useful app

I’ve generally had a positive experience using myLIBRO . It does need a few tweaks: there should be a quick and easy way to see your scheduled pickups. Instead you have to edit the existing scheduled pickups to see what you’ve set up. Or deal with the annoying assistant that speaks/chats - not ideal to have to go through FAQs.

The other thing is that there’s no easy way to consolidate 2+ pickups or indicate your preferences.
For example I was alerted about a new book then a day later I got an alert about a 2nd book. I didn’t want to schedule 2 separate pickups. The library staff figured out that I probably would want to do just one pickup and they put all the books together for me- but myLIBRO did not show that they had consolidated the books. I had no way to request that or indicate that I’d prefer fewer pickups if multiple books are ready within a short time.

Ok, myLIBRO seems fine. Turns out it was a connectivity issue preventing me from logging in. That being said, it works be great if myLIBRO put up some kind of “poor connection” alert when that is the case, so that folks don’t leave in frustration and write a bad review!

I like myLIBRO but this review is to inform the developer that the recent iOS update has bugs.
1. Schedule pickup is not allowing to schedule on iPhone
2. Unable to submit feedback from myLIBRO as the cursor is stuck on feedback box. clicking submit button is impossible due to this.

I’m a teacher at a private school who has been open since June and myLIBRO has been amazing! I’ve always ordered my books ahead of time due to my schedule and the schedule a pickup option is so easy to use! I’m hoping Wauconda Library keeps myLIBRO even after Covid is over!

I’ve only used this app for curbside pick-up at my local library so this review is somewhat limited. However, for this purpose it’s super easy to use. I simply schedule my pick-up time, let them know I’m on my way, alert them I’m there and what spot I’m parked in and viola my book comes out to me via a super helpful staffer. It’s fantastic!

I use this app on my iPhone to schedule when to pick up my library materials that have been on hold. I like the 4 “sections” in the process: schedule date/time for pickup, tell them I’m on my way, tell them I’ve arrived, and tell them I’ve received my stuff. The UI is easy to use. The whole thing works well. Thank you for myLIBRO!

The developers are responsive and making meaningful updates to the service regularly. myLIBRO will allow our library to continue offering curbside service regardless of how the pandemic effects our area. So convenient for the whole family

Very easy to use. I love that I don’t need to take out my library card and instead I can use the barcode on myLIBRO to check out books. The kids love going to the search menu to find books on their own. I find myLIBRO way more user-friendly than the search engines on the library computer.

Super helpful

I just love myLIBRO. I’ve recently fallen back in love with reading and have been back and forth to the library many times. But when books, as they often do, don’t get returned in time, someone showed me myLIBRO. It’s wonderful. It seems to know what I’m after and I love it.

myLIBRO is not working. I tried to create a new user to use myLIBRO and once I select the library and enter the zip code, it says “it’s unable to verify code. Pls check credentials“. Lousy app and the library have no idea why this is the case. Hope they use another app!!

Horrible App!

myLIBRO is horrible! Every time I go to schedule a curbside pick up fir more than one added members of the family, it deletes an already scheduled pickup time and I have to start all over again then no more times remaining for that day. Hopefully you all can develop something that’s more friendly.

Only downloaded myLIBRO because my library said this is what they’re using to coordinate the picking up of holds. I’ve updated myLIBRO twice, have installed/ uninstalled myLIBRO , and every time it says I have no holds to pick up (which is incorrect). It. Doesn’t. Work.

There was No need for account sign up when they already had my library system information, yet this software required one!!!!! Really did nothing that local library website didn’t already do!!!

All this is is Alexa for your library account. It doesn’t show any info, just long lists of commands you can give Alexa. You don’t see your account, your holds, nothing. Your library app is way better. Skip this.

I am able to search books across the books and ebooks. Schedule pickups and visiting time. All in one. It took few minutes to understand it is all in one. Three of apps can go away now. Love it. Will explore more.
