Functional but limited and annoying

2024-09-18

The menu bar is pretty useless in the free version, and looks like it would only support 2 recent colors in pro. Can only copy hex codes in free, which makes the alpha part of the color select pretty much useless.

Some issues would be solved in the pro version, sure, but what I really need is something that gives me quick access to a color palette via the menu bar just by a single click (or keybaord shortcut).

Good color picker app but needs work

2024-01-19

ColorSlurp is a little clunky. It doesn't sync well across all your devices. I really struggle to save pallets correctly. It's a learning curve to remember how to get it to work properly. Switching between pallets isn't intuitive. I paid for the Pro account to be able to use across all my devices, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort. I hope improvements are made.

Best Color Picker in the Mac App Store

2023-12-11

I upgraded to Pro a while ago because nothing else comes close to ColorSlurp. The simplicity and feature set are fantastic. However, the new iOS companion app requires a SEPARATE upgrade to PRO for iCloud sync. Come on. That just seems greedy. The iOS app is a toy. Let it be motivation to upgrade to PRO overall. Not separately.

Latest Update is Broken

2024-01-18

If you try to do anything screen-related, like move the windows, take screenshots, etc. the icons will disappear. No matter what you do, short of a reboot, do not get them ro reappear. Also took away the single menubar click to open. Now shows a menu so there is an annoying 2-step open process. How about leaving the behavior and add a right-click or CTRL-click to open the menu? A nice simple program is trending downward because the developer is trying to sell you something. Unfortunately, I don't pay for annoying software. Go back to simple and then I can be convinced to pay for a "Pro" version to support development.

Great app, weird slurping noise

2024-05-06

This is a minimalist app that basically does what I needed it to do – extract colors from anywhere on my screen and tell me the hexcode. It's a good free app if you're looking for something simple that will do the job. It even has a keyboard shortcut that you can use to bring it up without opening it on the dock.

My only misgiving is that when you pick a color, it makes a weird slurping noise by default. It is very unsettling while wearing headphones, and it's hard to figure out where the noise is coming from sometimes. Fortunately, you can turn it off.

Good app with a cumbersome UI

2024-04-20

this app is great app overall, but the UI leaves a bit to be desired. First, not being able to change field values (e.g. adjust HSL values) via the keyboard makes it really challenging to adjust colors. It also requires a lot of moving between screens to use. There isn't a way I've found to move a color from "recent colors" directly into a palette.

And this isn't unique to this app, but all color pickers should have options for wide gamut in 2024, (P3, LCH, okLCH).

I use this app EVERY day!

2023-07-10

I love ColorSlurp. The keyboard shortcut is a part of my regular routine and I count on it to pull colors quickly and accurately. So whats with the 4 Stars?!? Well I ran into a limitation the other day. I created a palette and wanted to import that palette into illustrator to work with it, but that was not possible, or if it is possible there is no documentation on the website that helps me to figure it out. Fix that and its 5 stars all day long.

Best Color Grabber!

2024-02-15

To be honest I thought I was gonna have to search for hours trying to find the right app because the one in mac's utilities wasn't quite right, but after just a few minutes of searching, ColorSlurp popped up and I thought it was too good to be true from all of it's ratings, but after using ColorSlurp , I knew all those ratings told the truth because, in my opinion, ColorSlurp is the best color picker that i've ever seen!

Prety great tool

2024-02-15

This product is very cool, very intuitive and well designed. Note if you're having trouble getting this to work with full screen apps you need te enable "Show App Icon In": "Menu Bar Only" under the general settings tab.

Would love to see this product just appear as "menu-bar window" always linked to the top of the screen like the "Color Note" app instead of a window you can drag around and have to click the close button on to dismiss, as that seems a little easier to use.

ColorSlurp also makes a "Slurp" sound when you select color.. which is hilarious... but a little wierd. Luckily you can turn it off if you don't want to scare your co-workers.

Web Designer/Developer

2024-01-09

Having many collections, I can organize the color swatches into separate collection for each client. I keep my client's color palattes in this app for quick and easy access. It's perfect.
On Suggeston, When I make a color that is a transparency, It would be nice to show the Hex value of the color

Fantastic color tool

2024-02-15

this app has been a fixture in my Mac menu bar since I found it. It's a fast, thoughtfully designed, high quality app, easily worth the pro unlock. As a developer who works across different languages and toolkits, I appreciated the range of paste formats it had right out of the box. It has a clean and tasteful UI and a good set of configurable preferences. Just a great, focused app.

AWSOME APP

2024-02-15

Not gonna lie, the slurp sound is a little disturbing haha But you can turn it off. But ColorSlurp is amazing. Before ColorSlurp I wen't though a lot just to get a hex value from anywhere on my screen. The tools I use specifically don't allow me to get the color I need out side ColorSlurp . I use to have pull up the built-in digital color meter, copy/paste the rgb values, open up a browser that converts rgb to hex then copy/paste that value into the editor. Now all I do is just point and click!

Love this widget

2024-02-15

I've been using Color Slurp for a couple years now. I've stuck with Color Slurp after trying many similar widgets. This is one of the better ones. My only complaint is that it is a little wonky sampling colors in full sreen mode from one space to another.

Indispensable!

2024-01-09

This is the best color picker and color blender in the market! ColorSlurp is incredibly well crafted and the fact that you can create and save many different collections makes it indispensable for designers, photographers, app developers, you name it. You can also use the palette and blend colors until you find the perfect combination. Never seen anything like this. It's now one of my favorite apps. Just get the full app with in-app purchase, you won't regret it. I had an issue with the store and the developer replied right away and helped solve the issue. Very nice guy. Excellent support.

Does what I need it to do

2024-02-15

ColorSlurp is simple, streamlined, and does exactly what I need it to do. All I needed was something that would allow me to easily store and access color palettes for the different brands I work with and ColorSlurp does that perfectly. I can have the window sit neatly in the corner of my screen and copy color codes with one click. Everything is accessible and organized.

Form and Function

2024-02-15

An indespensible tool in a designer's toolbox. Its robust feature set and simplicity combine in a powerful app that sits unobtrusively in the task bar and is ready when needed. The icloud sync is a must for working on projects across devices. The recent addition of the palette creation tool from an image does an amazing job. Well done.

Incredibly useful tool.

2024-02-15

The free version of ColorSlurp is fantastic. I used it for over a year and in my opinion if you do any kind of design (especially web design) this tool very quickly become one of your most useed tools.

I upgraded to the paid version and it's well worth eevery cent.

Not just the best color picker...

2024-02-15

In addition to color picking, I needed a way to organize a ton of color palettes across multiple apps, which this also does very well.

I tried all the other color picker and color palette manager apps out there, but this is the most fully-featured option (without seeming bloated or clunky) and seems to have the best developer support behind it.

Excellent Product!

2024-02-15

As Web Developer and Graphic Designer I find myself using this app almost daily. Its very user friendly and the color picker tool is very accurate for finding hex values. I also like that I can quickly access this app quickly from the top right corner of my screens. Its the best I have found for use on my MacBook pro.

Great app for... color enthusiasts?

2024-02-15

If you're either a designer or a nerd who likes to know what is the HSB value of a specific color on your screen, this is ColorSlurp for you. It even makes a slurping sound when you pick a color! That's cohesive app theming right there. It lives in the top bar, out of the way until you need it. I wish more apps were this unobtrusive and apt.

Love it!

2024-02-15

Simple to use, nice interface. I only wish the color picker becomes active when ColorSlurp is opened so I can single click anywhere on screen to get my hex values. Not a big deal though. This is still the fastest way for me to find color values without opening a website or something that just takes longer.

Finally! Everything I’ve been looking for

2024-02-15

Update: developer response was accurate, quick and helpful. This is a now a 5-star app in my view and worth every penny of the Pro version. I’d been searching color picker apps for hours (since Goodnotes inexplicably refuses to add one), and Color Slurp is far and away the best one on ColorSlurp Store. I love it!

Very nice color swatch app

2024-02-15

I am not sure why it is so hard to find a nice color app. It took me way too long to find this one but now that I have it I won't be looking any further, it works very well. I only wish that I could export it directly to adobe apps and maybe on of the export options will work but I haven't figured that out yet

Nice little app, with valuable features

2024-02-15

As a UI/UX Consultant I have a need for sampling colors quickly and unobtrusively quite often. Inspiration can come from many sources, so being able to grab a color, build a collection, and check for accessibility compliance on the fly is quite valuable in my daily workflow. this app does a brilliantly delivers tools for these needs.

Design must-have

2024-09-18

Color Slurp is my go-to for pretty much any design task. Whether I'm developing an app, working on a website, or creating images, I rely on Color Slurp *all the time*. The ability to copy to a variety of formats for whatever type of project I'm working on is a killer feature.

I also use it to manage palettes for my various projects.

If you do any sort of design work, especially if it's coupled with app or web dev, do yourself a favor and grab this utility.

Essential tool

2026-01-09

Im not a graphics guy, I jsut use graphics in presentations and academic posters. Non the less, the way your data looks is EVERYTHING (we have all seen those sloppy powerpoints or academic posters). this app makes it easy to grab the color codes needed to make slick presentations. Absolutly must have.

Great application - many functions, configurable

2026-02-10

this app is an excellent application. I evaluated a great many "Color Picker" applications; this app was, for me, the best. It has the functions I need, a few of which were surprisingly difficult to find. In addition, it has a well-deigned user interface.

Excelent tool

2026-03-14

I run this tool for web development at least 10-20 times per day. It works like a charm on single screen and multiple screens. It would be awesome to add some sort of linear gradient feature to it. This would make it the ultimate desktop tool.

Awesome Color Picker

2025-07-03

Finally... an amazing color picker in ColorSlurp Store. There have been others, but ColorSlurp by far has been the best i've ever used for years. Please please keep up the great work.

There is one thing IMO that needs more improvement and that is with the Color Harmony selection, shades, tints etc... The Color Harmony feature seems to be burried and needs to be displayed better on the main screen.

Save me SO MUCH TIME!

2025-09-04

Color Slurp is my GO TO for anything color. As a web developer who dabbles in graphic design, it is an absolute neccessity.

And the "sluuuurp" sound it makes gets laughs from clients all the time in meetings. Whoever added that sound clip was a genius! Makes my day every time I hear it. :)

My Favorite Color Picker and Organizer

2025-10-06

I've searched for a particular feature set in a color picker and organizer. Most of them do parts of the job really well. Most fall down in the user experience or organization departments.

Color Slup is the one that does all of the parts well and is my favorite right now.
