Downloaded this game yesterday as a way to pass the time. Quit playing after 10 minutes because I spent half of that watching ads. Decided to give it another go today. Soon as I open it I’m promoted to purchase coins in the game for $1.99, I close it. Then I watch the 30 second ad you can’t close. Then I’m prompted for my “daily gift”. I accept it and try to open the level to play. I’m immediately prompted again to purchase coins for $1.99. I close it yet again. Then I’m forced to watch the 30 second ad, AGAIN before I can even play one level. I proceed to play one level which takes around 60 seconds. Then I’m prompted again for the $1.99 purchase. Close it again. Then watch another 30 second ad. Close it out. Try to open the next level to play it, guess whattttttt- prompted again for the $1.99 purchase, and then again for the 30 second ad. Needless to say, the game is being deleted. While I don’t mind doing my fair share of watching ads, as I know that’s how they make an income on these games, this is beyond ridiculous, and you will spend minimum 50-75% of your time closing out ads and purchase prompts.

Changing my original review from 3 stars to 1 since my last review seems to have mysteriously disappeared...I guess the developers are too cowardly to accept legitimate criticism so they removed it. So basically what I said in my last review is that the “lucky” spin wheel is completely rigged. No matter when you hit “stop” it stops wherever it wants to. That’s NOT “luck”. It’s a predetermined outcome. And to claim so is actually wrong. It’s nothing but a deception. You would think a game about words would define it more appropriately. Why am I bothered by this you ask? Because obviously they’re more worried about getting people to spend money buying coins than they are making the game fair, which is actually terrible. They’re just making it seem like you have the chance to win a bunch of coins but the most you’ll ever win is like 100 and that’s not much. They constantly badger you to spend money on buying coins too. I used to like to play this game but honestly you’re better off playing a game where the devs actually care about the people who play it and don’t just want to shake a couple dollars out of you.

Game started getting stuck loading at 1% then freezes and crashes. Can't even open it half the time... Repetitive words, made up words, ads after every single level...made the mistake of paying to remove them because at first the game is really fun and addictive. But once you get to higher levels and like ten in a row have the same words repeated just kinda makes it annoying after a while.

Anyways there is a lot of potential to be a good game it just needs some fine tuning. The reward system needs work as well. It is very confusing right now, what are the flowers for? The gold rewards seem kind of skimpy as well. Also you lose your bonus streak even if you enter in a legit word and sometimes that legit word gets you the bonus.....I can understand losing your bonus for entering in something that is just gobbledegook but why not extra points for real words? Annnnnd then you can go to the next level and enter in that SAME word from that last puzzle and it accepts it?! So convoluted.

Also after the game stopped opening I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to see if that would resolve the issue. I was also logged into Facebook at the time might I add. When I reinstalled the game and logged back in I had lost all my progress....what's the point of logging in when all it does is show me what my friends scores are. Also there doesn't seem to be game center support either... Wish I could get a refund.

I played a game that had the same word twice. I had to use over 500 points, that I paid for, to get past the game because of the duplicate word. I wrote an email to the developer letting them know what happened and asked them to credit me the points. What would the harm have been to the developer to credit some points. However that didn’t happen and they didn’t even respond to my email with an apology. I sent several emails. There have been several kinks in the game where I have had to use my points to advance to the next game. I stated in my email that I would continue to rate the game low and guess what they did. They locked me into a 5 star rating where I’m not able to rate any lower than 5 stars through the game. Can you believe that. That is unethical. I’m completely shocked that a company would do something like this. I’m in the process of filing a complaint meanwhile I wonder what is the next shady thing this company does!!

Three days in a row I have received the flowers and points for the daily awakening because it freezes up. I’m sure I won’t receive a response from that email either.

The ads are unbelievable. You literally get an add after every game. It slows down the game and makes it annoying because you can’t even mute every commercial/advertisement so if you are in public and an ad pops up, you have to lower the volume. My other, and even more annoying complaint, is that you can lose a streak because the game doesn’t accept a legitimate word. You might be able to use a word in 1 round to only find out that the same word is not accepted in another round. So even though you know the word has worked before, it might be rejected later. This in turn breaks your streak if you have been getting multiple words in a row. On top of that, certain words won’t be accepted like countries or cities for most of the games but then later on you have to use the Geneva. Like what the heck?!? Why would I even consider using Geneva if you have kept cities, states, countries, etc in every other instance? This game could have been so much better but as is I can only give it a 2

Have played this game for years and have enjoyed the challenge of learning new words and completing the puzzle. The rewards came quickly which encouraged me to keep playing. The latest updates delay the rewards to the point the game has become boring. Instead of 25 points after accruing 30 words not in the puzzle, you must wait 18 LEVELS to gain 25 points. Not worth the time it takes. Also, those extra words? You no longer receive points for legitimate words not in the puzzle unless it is on some arbitrary list related to that specific level. A word that is not accepted on level 2435, for example, is acceptable on level 2436. It makes no sense and provides no help in vocabulary building. One thing that has not been fixed is the 50% off hints for one hour which only worked 1/2 the time and never on the daily rewards. It is possible that they moved the letters in the play location - where you choose the letters - closer together so if you just barely sweep by a letter while lining out a word, that letter is chosen, your word is misspelled and you lose the run on the 12 or 40 word count rewards. All of these issues are problems, but the biggest issues for me are the arbitrary rejection of legitimate words not included in the puzzle and having to play through 18 LEVELS for a measly 25 points. Not worth the time and effort and BORING.

That’s my two cents.

First of all, the ads.. never have I played a game where there is an ad that plays after EVERY single level, most of which are completed in just a few seconds. Isn’t this game just an exact copy of that one cookie word game anyways? Last issue I have is that the grammar is far from perfect.. First there are tons of perfectly acceptable English words that if entered are deemed incorrect (for example, “ton” was not considered a word, plus the word needed for the puzzle was “tun”.. really now? Come on game creators), however the biggest issue is some words required to solve the puzzle were not even actual words. The game is fun, don’t get me wrong, but the ads are far too frequent and therefore I find myself not wanting to play nearly as much as I would if they were less. I understand that for a game to be free there needs to be ads, but this one isn’t good enough to pay to have them removed, or to literally spend as much time watching ads as I do playing the actual game.

So I agree that it is a way to pass the time. Some major improvements can be made. You get high scores by not guessing incorrect words. The issue with this: sometimes a word that is absolutely, definitely a word will not get credited, so then points are lost...but it’s a real word (e.g. “let”). Sometimes words that are in one puzzle (in the actual puzzle) don’t get credited as a real word in the next puzzle. So while you HAVE to guess, “ire,” in order to complete one puzzle, you need to make sure you avoid it in another puzzle. It’d be one thing if points were deducted just because there isn’t a spot for the word...but when you guess a legit word that isn’t part of the puzzle, it sometimes recognizes that you’ve discovered a word that isn’t used in the actual puzzle, and you still get points for that word with no deduction.
Sometimes it will deduct points when I didn’t even get a chance to spell a word. Sometimes my finger hits the wrong starting letter, so I have to remove my finger from that letter. It seems that considers that a wrong spelling. I think that’s too much.

And I agree with the bonus word issue. It’s not a “bonus” if it’s required. 🙄

I’m giving this a three stars because I have played this game for quite some time and achieved more than 2000 levels. However I have contacted the developer many times over their inconsistencies with legitimate words. I think they cater to a British on the defense rather than an American due to the slang that is included. They have some anatomical words, but not others. But they consider the word “god” an offensive word, but not goddess or godless. “Queer” is also considered an offensive word which I find extremely ridiculous, but slang such as “guv” From the British word governor is included. I could go on and on. “Hip” is not a word but “hips” is, “hoe” is not a word but “hoed” is considered legitimate. I think you get the picture. Also, it sometimes doesn’t recognize when you correctly connected a word, so you have to do it multiple times before it responds. Anyways I’m going to find a new game. If the developer had responded to me in any kind of coherent way I might have considered staying a customer. With the plethora of ads this game has, I’m sure I can find another to occupy my time.

I like the game it is great for passing time but a lot of things bug me and almost make me want to stop playing which I’m sure I will at some point soon. First, there is literally an ad after every level and the levels really take one to five minutes for the most part. Thirty second ads every couple of minutes is over kill and ridiculous. Also, if you close out real quick to answer a text or something and go back in seconds later, you have to watch a 5-15 second ad for that. Secondly, you have to have coins to get hints and the amount of coins it cost versus how much they give for completing tasks makes it impossible. Thirdly, my husband and I both play and we have noticed that sometimes you have to put in the same word multiple times to have it accept it and a lot of the levels are the same. I like the concept of the game, but all those things just really frustrate me. I hope they change it soon or I’ll just delete it and find something else.

I’ve spent a while playing this game, and while I’ve enjoyed it more than other word games I’ve tried, it still has some issues I think need to be addressed.
First, ad glitches. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to watch an ad to get coins used in the game, only to have it get stuck on a black screen. You end up having to restart WordCrossy and you never get those coins.
Second, inconsistency in the words accepted. In all puzzles some words that are not part of the crossword are still accepted as “bonus” words. But it seems to vary from puzzle to puzzle which are accepted. For example: one puzzle might accept “TIN” as a bonus word while another might not. It’s frustrating when you get to the bonus combo mode and you lose it on a word that should have been accepted universally.
All that said I’m not usually a big fan of word games but this one has grabbed me. I’m still going to play for now, and hope for some fixes!

Word Crossy is a fun & challenging game. There are some problems that reduce enjoyment of the game and rob players of points & time. Like other players have mentioned, the flower/coin point system is vague. Please resolve these problems. I’ really like this game; but, am considering uninstalling it. Here are a few examples of glitches & issues:

1. Stolen coins: Game took 50 coins & gave me nothing but red, swirling sparkles when Lightbulb Tool was selected. No hint was displayed; so, I did not get what I paid for.

2. Full bank won’t empty: Missing green Free-Empty option button: Green free-empty option button does not always appear in full cat bank option box. So, I could not empty bank & coins earned in next game were lost since they couldn’t fit.

3. NEXT game button after cat bank fills up: Sometimes the “NEXT” game button appears in error after the cat bank fills up instead of the special box with the options for free-empty or purchase. So, future coins are lost since full bank couldn’t be emptied.

4. Ads (too many, too long): 30-second advertisement after each game is excessive. No, I won’t buy the ad-free game option with real money because game cannot be trusted with my play money/game coins due to the glitches I described above.

5. Lonnng scoring transitions between games. Slow, flying flowers & coins counting in addition to long ads after each game ... too much time wasted.

It’s okay...a way to pass time. Can’t figure out the scoring. Some reviews criticize the “bonus” word because it’s mandatory that you find it before moving on. I don’t think it’s a bonus word, per se. Finding that word does “pay” out in “game coins” that allow you to buy hints. That’s their only purpose or use, as far as I can tell. And, yes, you do have to find it before moving on. The whole game could use some clearly written -out COMPLETE instructions and information on scoring, in case that affects someone’s methods of word guessing. The only thing remotely like directions is masked as the first several stupid-easy “levels” when a pop-up indicates how to run your finger along the letters to make the words, and that for help you can touch two icons: one to mix-up the letters and one to get hints. It doesn’t mention that the hints “cost” those “game coins” mentioned earlier. I think putting in wrong guesses may adversely affect the score. Don’t really know. Sometimes a correct word is worth 1 point and sometimes it seems to be worth 2. No explanation on scores. But that’s okay with me. I don’t pay attention to the score. By the way, I accidentally bumped one of the “buy this offers” and my screen went black. It wouldn’t go on or go back (I waited quite a while). I even left the game and reopened but it still went to a black screen. I had to remove WordCrossy and re install it, but it started over with the first level. :-(

I’m on level 2994 & I have encountered a thing or 2 or 3... Firstly, I’ve never once hit the 1000 coin mark on the bonus wheel and only twice (as of today) hit the 100 coin mark; the other prizes are minimal game tools. Secondly, when reaching extra word bonus points where an option to watch a video for double the coins (50 vs 25) about half the time, the screen goes blank and I don’t get my 50 coins or even the 25 which is automatic - or suppose to be. Lastly, valid words in the English dictionary are rejected too often for my taste. For example, the words ‘listen’, ‘enlist’ & other practical words were recently rejected in my game. WordCrossy is updated automatically and my connection is great so it isn’t me. Otherwise, it’s a great app. I will continue to play regardless because I enjoy it as a pastime. It’s a little better than the others I’ve tried. The best aspect of WordCrossy, to me, is the weekly tournament. Love those!

Overall I enjoy the game, but there are a few sore spots that need to be addressed; primarily with the words that it accepts/ does not accept. Depending on the level, the same word will or will not be accepted as an answer. If its acceptable on one level I should be able to input it on another level, even if its only as a bonus word. The issue gets compounded when putting in a word that is not accepted breaks your combo! How can I know ahead of time that the word wont work for that level and avoid losing the points? I frequently guess correctly spelled english words that simply aren’t allowed on that level and then later its a required word, where is the consistency? Why can I put in ‘Mauls’ but not ‘Maul’ in the same level?

Just update the word banks and make any words that are real, but not required for the level, as bonus words so it wont break my combo score. Also, it would be nice if we could check what bonus words we’ve already gotten for the level.

So like I said, fun but needs some work to be less frustrating

I love the game and play almost every day. I usually finish and then go back to play previous games. It would be nice to easily access them without having to scroll down over and over. When you tap on the level list to the left of the screen, you see all the levels but cannot pull them up. It would be really great if you could do that, as it would make it much easier to keep playing.

The newest update is filled with lovely colors which makes it a beautiful app. With the newest update, the circles that cover each letter are a bit large. I make more mistakes now because they get overlapped and interconnected. At least on a phone screen where you don’t have a lot of room. Maybe make them a little smaller? Overall, though, I really do enjoy playing this game!

This update I do not like. It’s like the reversed in progress because normally updates are better but this one is like they went back like 10 steps. I can say I have noticed less ads. The music was so relaxing and now it’s a little more upbeat. The music is a large portion as to why played the game and now I really don’t care for it. They had spa like music, but like I said it’s a little more upbeat than usual. WordCrossy is so extra now. I like cut to the paste and now it does extra stuff when you found a word, they changed the whole layout, as I said I preferred the other layout way better- like the overall layout. At the end of the game when you could easily press X they make you wait for the flower to fully circle around and it is frustrating. Basically I played the game for relaxing purposes and now it doesn’t even do that anymore because they put in special effects which delays time has annoyed me. I don’t care for the path level up hung either. At one point you could just slide and it had relaxing picture of different elements and of course they took that away! I play less now.

Ok, so I’m currently lvl 586 and haven’t written a review for this game until today. They just added a dictionary button on the screen to define mysterious words that you may have guessed on or maybe use it as a refresher to keep your mind sharp. I’m so glad they added it, it even does words In the pool that are legit but don’t make it on the board. Thank you for not being an ad dependable app. Also, the changing background is awesome after playing so many levels at a time. I have two permanent games on my phone for over two years and this is one of them. Thank you devs for not overthinking it.

The only I don’t like is the crappy wheel of fortune thing for a bonus. Can you change it up a little or improve upon it? I suggest being able to win a point a puzzle to be able to spin in more than once, make the speed a bit more realistic on the wheel or pick from cards and get a bonus.

Love this game.. I’ve never downloaded a game to my phone and actually kept it.. I always get tired of them and trash them, then continue my search for that “perfect game” that fits me.. However, I downloaded this game over a year ago and still have and love it! 🥰It’s very easy to maneuver the map, very simple and easy to play, yet there’s enough of a challenge in finding words, that it’s not boring. I also love how, after you find a work, you can touch the word in the puzzle and it will give you the definition for that word! (Because there are several words that I find and think “no way that’s a word!” haha) I’ve never had any issues with losing coins unnecessarily, game crashing, etc! I’ve also won every-single-tournament I’ve played, which are worth 1,000 coins each time you win 1st place! 😍 DOWNLOAD this game; if you enjoy word puzzles, you will NOT be disappointed!!!!

Spinning letters as if in a bingo bowl to find the word and various shorter words within it, tying each letter to another as you work it out, the letters appearing on a rack above the circle, as if it were another real-world board game, getting rewarded with flower petals and bonus coins as you climb your way from 'calm' to 'earth,' colours, landscapes changing as you go, this game is fun and relaxing. If you can't guess the word, hints are available, but just take a breather. You may find what you need after a short break. Use the crossword itself as you fill it in for clues too. I haven't spent money on clues, have just been rewarded them. You can play bonus levels just for that too or to become more familiar with the game. You might have come across a word in a new level already if you've already done it in a bonus round. I did spend money to remove ads, all at once. Not much money and certainly a more relaxing game.

I play this game with my dad all the time and it is very fun. It really does pass the time and it helps your brain. The game is challenging too, finding words. I enjoy challenges. Sometimes, i even learn new words from that game. It’s easy to get coins. (All you do is watch commercials then you’ll gain coins.) there are so many levels, too! Like, 1,700+ I can’t wait to finish them all! I give this 5 stars. And other people out there who don’t like it because you can’t find the words and you rate it just one star. Wow. It is supposed to be challenging. And if you do not like the music, turn it off. That’s why there is a mute button. Don’t get frustrated just because you cannot pass a level and then rate it one star. It is a good game. You guys also delete WordCrossy just because of ads. Just wait until it is over, X out, and continue on. I know it is annoying but stop complaining for such dumb reasons.
