Customer service is missing in action. I’ve tried contacting them several times because SkyCandy is no longer opening properly after an IOS update. No response for over two weeks !!!

Predictions are very inaccurate. There are days I’ve missed beautiful sunsets because SkyCandy predicted a lousy sunset. Got up early this morning to do a sunrise photo shoot, since Sky Candy’s prediction seemed pretty positive. Nope. The cloud cover is so high that the light is struggling to get through. No color whatsoever. I check Sky Candy fairly regularly and they always seem to be off...this is not a once in a while thing.

There has only been one time in all of my attempts to use SkyCandy that it has not been stuck on the opening screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but the problem remains. It is useless as is.

It would be amazing if you’d just let us all know if you’ve given up on it because we won’t be bothering you for an app we pay for but haven’t been able to use for months. Please just let us know.

App worked ok until the latest iOS update in late Feb 2022. Now SkyCandy opens, but the data doesn’t load. I put in a support ticket days and days ago with no response. So at this point I’m paying for an app I can’t use. Wish they’d get back to me. When SkyCandy works, it’s what you’d expect…..just inaccurate.

I paid them 23 bucks to use SkyCandy for a year and I got 2 weeks out of it. That’s it. I wouldn’t recommend you spend your money. Seems like they scammed me since they won’t respond to your requests for SkyCandy to you know……work.

SkyCandy worked great up until a few weeks ago. Now it freezes every time I try to use it, and I’ve paid for the subscription. I also cannot get a hold of the developer!!!!!!

This was a really nice app, but now it doesn’t even open, presumably because it has been updated in over a year, obviously missing some major apple iOS updates. I guess still available in paid version of Fotocast app?

It's a cool concept and I even paid for Premium. Push notifications and alerts have never worked. The sunset forecast (the only reason to have SkyCandy) hasn't worked at all for a week. I reached out to Support more than a month ago and never received a response.

SkyCandy is worthless. I’ve paid to be a subscriber probably 5 times now and have had to cancel my membership every single time. SkyCandy doesn’t open it just stays the orange screen the entire time. And If you ever do get it open SkyCandy doesn’t work or allow you to see options to click it’s just a awful app with so many issues.

Downloaded and even paid for the upgraded version. Every time I open SkyCandy , all it shows is the logo on the orange background. It will never open and allow me to use it. Same result every time I try to open since downloading 3 days ago. I’ve opened from phone icon and even thru SkyCandy Store. Never loads. Cool concept if it worked.

You might as well just look out the window and guess what kind of sunset you’re going to get. The info provided is useless and vague. Most days it will tell you there’s a chance it will be colorful and a chance it won’t. Well, there’s a chance I’ll win the Lotto, too, but I won’t hold my breath.

Better off learning a bit about weather and clouds.

SkyCandy is rated at almost 4.5 stars which actually surprises me after using it for some weeks.

I’ve had SkyCandy for almost a month, and I understand how completely unpredictable the weather is, however, in my area, there has been numerous beautiful sunsets/sunrises and each time SkyCandy has said there’s only a 20ish percent chance of a decent sunset/sunrise. The highest score I’ve recorded was 28%.

It seems as though it is completely guessing. For example, there was some residual rain storms from one of the hurricanes in my area recently, the rain ended a few hours before sunset. These conditions can often be a decent indicator of a colorful sunset, so I checked SkyCandy and it said there was a 20% chance. Luckily I didn’t trust that, as the sky was incredible that night and I was able to capture some great photos.

That being said, SkyCandy is well put together and easy to use. There are a couple other features that would be helpful, so for example if you need to know exactly what time the sun will be in a particular part of the sky, SkyCandy will tell you and that part is accurate.

I really wanted to like SkyCandy , and perhaps it works better in other areas, however I have found it completely unreliable as far as choosing whether to go shoot photos or not.

No we can’t predict how sunsets will look, most times SkyCandy can’t either...several times it said less than 20% chance for beautiful sky, welll several times it was wrong..just like last night. It said 18%, sunset was awesome. App
Should have said maybe around 80-90%.

Been using SkyCandy for a couple of years. Predictions were hit or miss but for the most part they were pretty reliable. Went to take a look at the sunrise prediction a few days ago & SkyCandy has not worked since. I have deleted and reinstalled several times but still doesn’t work. Guess all good things have to come to an end. 😢

It worked well for a while, but now every time I use it I get this error message
“Error retrieving forecast data, either it has not been generated yet, or the server is experiencing issues. Try again in 15 minutes.”
It happens every time I try to use it.

It’s very difficult to get in touch with you guys your email is not working. So the only way to get you guys to make sure that SkyCandy is working because right now it is not is to leave a review. I love SkyCandy and I use it for work can you please make sure that it’s working because right now it’s stuck on the home screen and it doesn’t work. Thanks

Yayy so excited SkyCandy was fixed. SkyCandy is pretty accurate for both sunrises and sunsets. Great if you’re a photographer or simply want to enjoy the colorful sky by yourself or with friends! If the chance for a beautiful sunset is over like 75% then definitely get out there! The higher the percentage the more likely it’ll be a pretty sunset but I feel like even over 60% can be a pretty nice one. I’ve used SkyCandy for at least a year and I didn’t realize how much I relied on it till it stopped working for a bit. Super excited it’s back!

Yes I had the same issue other recent reviewers report: the December 2021 update also freezes on the screen listing update changes. The fix is to delete SkyCandy from your iOS device and then download SkyCandy again from the AppStore. Then it works. I wish the forecasts were more accurate, but that is not the developer’s fault, because that data comes from others. Sunrise and sunset quality is highly variable by location. Travel 50 miles and conditions may be totally different.

I upgraded to premium, how do I add multiple locations? I live about an hour from the beach so would like to be able to search it before driving there. I am able to edit my location, but when I click “add new” the map opens, and when I type in the beach I am looking for, there is no way to select that location. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong??

This is one of the only apps I’ve EVER used that demands your location access 24/7, no way to manually enter your location ... which is just dumb. I don’t want these app makers to have access to my location 24/7. Why not let me choose my location?? Get with the program! If they ever add that option I’ll buy the premium version but till than will be getting deleted.

I have the trial version. You can only see as far as the very next sunrise or sunset so there really is no way to get a fair test of the apps ability to forecast any further out than a few hours. I cannot evaluate whether or not it's worth buying with such a small preview window. Why not allow one week with full features? If I'm going to commit to a monthly subscription, I want to know before I buy. Thanks.

Purchased this to help predict sunrises/sunsets. Paid for full version. App won't let me add multiple locations. Predictions always look the same no matter the weather out.

Don't waste your money until they fix it.

SkyCandy says the same thing every day and is very rarely accurate. The free version is a waste so don’t even think about paying for it!

So you will try to use the this app more than twicein a day, it will ask you to buy it.

Why buying it is a scam;

Each days prediction will continuously change. Mon - wed it tells me thursday night will be an amazing sunset 95%. Day of it drops to 30%.

When you have the free version your prediction stays the same for the day. When you pay for SkyCandy , predictions are constantly changing by a huge variance of %, making SkyCandy totally useless

Highly disappointed. What the heck were you guys thinking!

It was wrong more than right. Got sick of using it and missing gorgeous sunsets for photography. I liked the tips and tricks they gave me more than the predictions. Uninstalled 👎🏻

You only get a same day prediction for your current location. If you want to see other locations or days, you must pay a subscription fee.

Just use the internet. It’s better.

I have the premium trial version and every time I try to search a location, it closes SkyCandy . I never right reviews but I had high hopes for this one needed it to work because I go to the coast multiple times a week. This could have possibly saved me some time and gas.

It’s generally accurate, but my big issue with SkyCandy is the fact that it often shows the sunrise when it’s mid day, and won’t give a prediction for the sunset. I’ve tried reinstalling SkyCandy and using another phone, but it auto loads the sunrise at mid day 50% of the time. I suspect it’s to push their premium subscription. Maybe it’s just a bug though. The first would be a shame.

I’m on an iPhone 6 using the 12/hr time format. This sunset/sunrise mid day issue is still a thing so I thank you for looking into it!

Tried now with four sunsets, so far the sunset quality forecast has been spot on at my location. I don't know why I didn't hear about SkyCandy before...
