This latest update is a substantial improvement, and finally makes this device usable in my opinion. Losing the screen mirroring is much easier on my battery and is also less unstable. Also I notice HUDWAYCastSafeDriving now allows me to stream my Bluetooth audio to my stereo again. Connection stability is still imperfect, however, and screen refresh is slow. Still, big leap forward.

I brought this home so happy and ready to use it. I plug it in and get it setup and lone behold HUDWAYCastSafeDriving can’t pick it up. So I hardwired it in then it said a firmware update was available. I thought “oh sweet yeah this will update it and get it right” but all it did was display what I think they thought was cute as a “something went wrong” I backed out and tried again and it didn’t work. I tried using it as is and sure enough when I pressed “cast to hub” it casted the screen previous. Then I tried apple maps but that didn’t work because of the rotation of the phone. I’m so unbelievably frustrated.

This is one of the best HUDs that work with the iOS but it has some limitations making the experience somewhat disappointing.
When casting to the HUDWAYCast the iOS will not be able to send sound through Bluetooth to your car stereo. This limitation takes away the music player built-in the application as you cannot hear the music on your car stereo but only on the small speaker built-in the HUDWAYCast.
When using the HUDWAYCast as an standalone works great but you cannot enjoy the stereo sound while using HUDWAYCast.
Other limitations include the lack of stability while using the airplay that will stop suddenly without reason. They should have included a direct HDMI connection for iOS just as they did for android.
Overall has potential and I hope they work out the current issues to give us the full HUD experience.

I bought it from the Kickstarter campaign and it has never worked, the last version, even when my phone is connected to the cast network, it says that I don’t have a compatible device, seriously?
Also, the screen mirroring crashes way too much, it makes my drive more dangerous because I have to re-start the thing...

The only reason I am not going with one star because the User Interface is simple and nice. I love it because my vehicle does not have Car Play... but do not forget to close HUDWAYCastSafeDriving when you are done. It not only drained my battery but made my phone hot to touch and I even have a case on my phone. Yes it was that hot!!!

Not a whole lot works on HUDWAYCastSafeDriving . Cannot listen to blue tooth phone songs while using HUDWAYCastSafeDriving . The navigation is a joke. Wished I did not believe the advertising. They are blaming Apple and are not taking responsibility for what they claimed would work. Why do they have music and phone on HUDWAYCastSafeDriving when you cannot use it????

The whole point of HUDWAYCastSafeDriving is to connect to the HUD. I turned off my phone, played with WiFi settings and connections, turned off the HUD. Nothing works, HUDWAYCastSafeDriving doesn’t recognize the Hudway HUD, so both are useless... hope this gets fixed or that will be a huge waste of money

Just got my HUDWAY Cast the other day and it won’t acknowledge that I have the cast connected. So when trying to operate the external HUD mode it won’t recognize that my phone is connected and I’m not able to play music through my car speakers

The worst map I have ever tried. When I touch the re-center button, it shows my position is one mile from what I actually am.

I have struggled with this gadget and hudway ld tech support for 6 months. Support has been less than helpful or really has offered any help other than YouTube videos and a 50 dollar credit. I was given this credit to essentially go away. But I was told even though I couldn’t return the device that I could have a credit and give it away as a gift or sell it. Well I’ve tried it on 5 iPhones and 2 androids and not once could I get it to work reliably. Fidgeting with this device while driving is an absolute hazard as it constantly goes out. It is not a reliable hud. And I’m super angry that how this company has treated me and stalled me out past return. I was told by a second person that I could return it and then kasy quickly jumped in to tell me I couldn’t. Your product doesn’t work and your business practices are questionable.

02/07/2019 Update: the recent update has allowed me to cast to the HUDWAY while still connected to my car. Great direction, now to work out having it always connect. It connects maybe 25% of the time.
11/19/2018 Update: Still doesn’t work.
11/12/2018 Update: So with the new update that supposedly fixes the issue. I can say that nothing has changed. It still doesn’t stay connected.
So it’s pointless to have an app meant for device that doesn’t work. You can connect your phone to it and it’ll disconnect 30 secs later. The creator says it’s apples fault. If that’s the case then don’t sell it saying it supports apple. I was told to get an android device to use HUDWAYCastSafeDriving and HUDWAY Cast.
