Just to warn people out there that I haven’t received my refund from early January neither did my wife. They keep saying it will be prioritized but nothing gets processed. They claim to process it in 48 hours I believe…

They may be great few years back, but not now! Definitely have not received my refunds and a week later I contact them to follow up. They replied with a long message saying they have 5 years track records of refunding 100% of their customers blah blah blah. And due to significant growth their reserve is depleted to process refund within 24 hours, but will do so ‘within few weeks or as soon as they can’!

SO the question I have is - why can’t you update your website with that info instead of still claiming refunding customers timely?

Do not use them. They won’t refund you.

Over 3 months to get a refund is ridiculous

ZapptaxShopTaxFree and process is smooth
The form generation or barcode is fast
It worked well at the airport
BUT
I did not receive the refund yet.
So all this for nothing at this stage.
Only received a generic email explaining they are struggling with refunds.
It may take some time (weeks? months?) or simply never happen.
Pretty disappointed in fact

After more than a month waiting I still didn’t get my refund. Online chat is useless repeating the same thing again again with the same stereotype message. You ll find so much better service elsewhere. Never use this poor service !

In almost every case they were unable to do anything

There are a few glitches in ZapptaxShopTaxFree and it takes time getting used to asking for an invoice under the ZappTax name and then having to explain your request at every shop. However, it works and once you get your money back it’s all worth it. It’s also easier to use when you make purchases online as you setup your invoice info once and then you don’t have to worry about it. This works great for Amazon!
ZappTax customer service is great. The main request I have is for ZappTax to support purchases in Italy!

I was a bit nervous since this is my first time using ZapptaxShopTaxFree. However, it was a relatively smooth process. Download ZapptaxShopTaxFree , make your purchase and ask for the invoice as indicated in ZapptaxShopTaxFree (I went to Galeries Lafayette and either the clerk or their tax/concierge desk made the invoice without issue), then scan or stamp at customs. I had a bit of an issue with using an American bank account but a quick chat got it straightened out. You can either use a bank or PayPal for the refund (the credit card feature didn’t work for me). All in all I got 90% of the 20% VAT (calculated as 18% VAT on the subtotal as the refunded amount). Refund amount varies a bit depending on your total purchases. This is a lot more than the in person tax agencies! Refund took about a week after I submitted the forms. PayPal/your bank may also charge a fee for the wire/exchange into USD during the refund so be mindful for that. The in person places do the same. Definitely will use again!

I am using ZapptaxShopTaxFree for years now and it a lifesaver for the tax refund process. The biggest benefit is that you’re not limited to each “store daily sales limit” in order to get a refund. You can aggregate all the receipt through ZappTax and they will be the one managing all the paperwork. Everything is digital and super easy to use. They also helped me figure out how to validate the form after my trip because I couldn’t find a custom’s agent and none of the “Pablo” machines were working. It was a bit tricky but we finally made it. Thanks again guys. Really, a great option for travelers.

I’ve been using ZappTax for a couple years now and their service is really great and simple to use.

I’m taking the time to write this review because the ZappTax team really goes beyond to deliver customer service. I shout out to Chantal who personally went to customs in Brussels several times to sort out an issue and kept me updated along the way.

She and the ZappTax team are examples of exceptional customer service.

And if you wonder, their app is great and simple.

Other than their friends and family I am proud to say I was the first ZappTax customer. I was really having trouble trying to organize all my receipts for purchase made on my trip abroad.

I sent Zapp all my receipts in one bundle and they were able to process everything for me so efficiently. I had no trouble at the airport and their customer service was beyond incredible.

I've never bothered doing refunds before because it was so difficult to gather the information for the claim. I will use them again in the future and have sent the links to all my friends traveling abroad. I was able to get a few hundred dollars/euros back from items purchased. So grateful, thank you guys!

I rarely rate apps but in this case, I feel I should. Really great service and ZapptaxShopTaxFree to use when traveling in Europe for non residents. Easy to use with favorable reimbursement rates. A no-brainer.
