- Simple and easy to use interface
- Helpful for identifying basic chords and keeping them in mind
- Useful for exploring and discovering new chords on the guitar
- Great for beginners who are still learning basic chords
This can only name basic chords that anyone beyond a beginner would already know. Anything else it cannot name correctly. It can’t even name major and minor triads. I guess it’s fine for beginners, but for more complicated chords, like what you would actually need a chord naming tool for, it spits out some nonsense or nothing at all.
Not a terrible app but it doesn’t always ID the chord and there is no audio of the chord which would be helpful
The inviting interface makes figuring out
what mystery chord my fingers happened to find a lot simpler.
It also invites some fun exploration with the opportunity to plot points along the fingerboard and see what pops up. Recommend for anyone who finds themselves lucking into interesting chords or wants a fun way to explore the guitar.
My brain can not name some of the weird chords I create or hear in some covers we do. This tool is excellent for that or just keeping the basics in your head. I use it a lot.
Thanks for this simple, yet accurate and easy to use app!

Playing cool chord but have no idea what its name is. You'd like to share your song but not sure how to correctly name the chords you are using. You just have slided one of you fingers up a fret while playing familiar chord and wonder what the chord has now become. It is really simple with WhatChord app. Give it a try. .
