Update: So since I technically paid for Idyoma might as well use it. I tried logging in with my apple account but it fails. It mentions an errer and a expired token message. Please corrct thin issue.

Old: I downloaded this as recommended by AppAdvice and it mentioned a free verification process. Going through the process your app said $0.00 before pressing my thumb down to finalize and seconds later I get a notification of a surcharge of $12 from my bank. I am requesting a refund and won’t change my review rating until then. Thank you.

I don’t see any way to only see those people who are interested learning the languages I speak well and who speak the language I want to learn. When I swipe through the profiles, there are tons of people whose languages I’m not interested in or who haven’t even filled out that part of their profile yet. Then I get contacted by people who don’t even know the language I want to learn. Even their profile photos let me guess that they be interested in something other than language learning. A simple filter would cut out most of that nonsense.

I’ve written over 20 people and not one has written back to practice. Are these all bot accounts? And, somehow they get you to a page to make you pay for Idyoma with no ability to leave that page before it takes payment. Shady business and you won’t find a partner. Reviews must be fake as well! I’m disappointed!

...need to try more but so far I wouldn’t recommend Idyoma to anyone. Idyoma seems unintuitive and expects you to pay $3 monthly after paying an additional $5 just to download. Limiting people to 5 conversations a month is ludicrous! How do you expect people to learn anything? And conversations begun by other people you don’t even match are also counted. Quite frankly ridiculous. What a terrible app. Expensive, poor functionality, unresponsive developer. Worth less than 1 star.

Safety is not optimal. Especially for women online. However the male founders seem to think it is. I don’t even care about the fact I had a hard time finding people to speak German with. I was harassed by middle eastern men and Indian cat fish scammers and they let them stay on after repeated complaints. There is no way to block these creeps or easily report them. They launched way too early

If you can’t even search for potential partners based on language, how can you call this a language learning app Nor can you search by country in most cases. All that leaves is rather pointless Tinder-like swiping. I have to think the positive reviews are fake, or not by language leaners but rather just people who want a way to have random chats with other users based on their photo.

I got Idyoma after it was recommended by AppAdvice. The premise is really nice, meet people around the world to practice a chosen language. However Idyoma is very limiting, or perhaps just broken. According to app you get 5 conversations free a month. It’s not just what you initiate though, if someone texts you first and you reply that counts as 1:5. If you go over 5 you need to pay the monthly subscription. Also the free 5 never seems to refresh after the month is over.

This is happening more frequently that a developer advertises “Free Lifetime” on AppAdvice or other forums and when you try to follow the instructions there is no “Free Lifetime”, but the developer gets your info. Many times a trick is involved so you click on purchase (for “Free Lifetime”) and you still get charged. This time though it’s just a simple advertisement to get you to download Idyoma and the “Free Lifetime” just doesn’t exist. Why not just be honest with your customers?

You guys really have a problem with scammers/bots. At the very least, you should give people 1) the ability to flag a profile for review and 2) the ability to block all non-verified accounts by default

Also, the “block account and delete conversation” feature is broken. Takes forever and then fails.

I like Idyoma . I just wish it had Esperanto. I would subscribe if it did.

I was very happy to find that most people using Idyoma are either genuinely interested in learning or improving a language or want to meet people from a different cultures. This is a great platform to expose yourself to other parts of the world without leaving the city. If you are traveling/studying abroad, I can imagine how this could be a great place to make friends and make the most of your time here as well. Idyoma is very well designed and easy to navigate. Will definitely keep using it to improve my french :)

Great UI/UX and a phenomenal way to meet people while learning a language. Would highly recommend for people that are invested in learning and like meeting new people!

this app is a promising way to meet new people and learn new things. As more and more people start to use it I’m sure it’ll be even better for just that.

this app seems like a promising new way to meet fellow language learners near-by. I like it more than the other similar apps because unlike the competitors, you can select up to 6 languages for free, search nearby for free and see large profile pictures. Very simple to use!

This is a fabulous app that gives you the awesome opportunity to meet others interested in language exchange. I’m so excited to keep practicing my Italian and French, and even help others with their Spanish! I find that everyone on here is very friendly and so well traveled, which is a huge bonus. Idyoma itself is extremely user friendly, great design, and aesthetically pleasing! Love it—10/10 recommend.

Idyoma works great!! It gave me a chance to learn German language and also has this amazing feature which allows me to practice it with other language learners. It is the unique feature which you can’t find in other language exchange apps. I highly rate this app for anyone who wants to be expert in other languages!! Keep up the good work guys!!

One of the best ways to connect with people and learn new languages. I have a few languages I want to learn in my lifetime and this has given me a head start with my Spanish! Strongly recommend Idyoma to anyone looking to learn a whole new language and connect with the culture and people at the same time!

Really enjoying using Idyoma. It is so convenient to use Idyoma when travelling as it helps translating the foreign language to the one you know. It is also a great opportunity to learn about cultures and backgrounds of your visiting country through this app. You don’t have to worry about the language barrier now when you have Idyoma in your phone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Born and raised far from my home country, I was able to find a lot of people from Cape Verde who I’be been able to connect with and practice my native language with. Even more rewarding is the fact that I’ve made friends and connections with people from my home country I wouldn’t have been able to meet otherwise. Awesome app!

Great app, easy to use, easy to connect with other language learners! Love the chat bot as well, helps me get confident before chatting with other speakers.
