Three recommendations for future revisions: First, consider focusing more on pitches and less on frequencies. I’ve never met a drummer who tunes using frequencies. And while we can Google the conversions, it’s an extra step. Second, incorporate a pitch/tone generator (unless it’s there somewhere and I can’t find it). As it is, DrumTuner seems to be geared toward checking the existing pitch/tension of the head, but it would be more useful if it helped the user actually arrive at the desired pitch in the first place. Third, the lug tuning seems to check each lug clockwise, but many of us go from one lug to the one across from it. Maybe there’s an option in there that I can’t find to change the order of the lugs, but if not, there should be.

Wow guys! I have owned an operated a small business for over 20 years and I have never in my life handled frustrated customers the way that you guys do! My hat is off though to all of the geniuses that have figured out how to use your app, but for the rest of us that can’t figure this complicated thing out, you might wanna rethink how you handle us.

After I bought DrumTuner, I tried using it over and over again with absolutely no understanding of what on earth I was doing.

Ignorantly, I started reading the negative reviews which I should’ve done in the first place, and I’m kind of shocked by your responses to the people that are having trouble with it.

Guys, you should never belittle people who don’t understand your product or don’t like it. But, consistently I read where you guys almost make fun of the people who write any negative reviews on your content. How old are you guys? No offense, but grow up a little. Firstly. secondly, create an app that makes sense even for idiots like me, please thank you.

Recently bought a new snare and I’ve had nothing but problems trying to tune it up. Changed out the heads for new heads and I still have a problem as it just isn’t consistent between each lug by large amounts. My ear tells me a different story in that things are quite close. It’s always off by 40 or 50 between lugs. And on my PDP drum kit I thought it worked better but on this Ludwig snare it’s a horrible nightmare. Don’t really don’t wanna have to buy $100 tunebot to try to compared to but something isn’t steady.

Note that I’ve been playing for 10+ years.

So I’m using DrumTuner to tune my snare, but the Hz is all over the place. DrumTuner cannot decide if it’s 119Hz or 174Hz which is a crazy gap. Also, it won’t let me tune one lug to the desired Hz I want, it just marks the first one as that and then just says +X or -X instead of letting you tune that initial lug correctly in the first place. It’s also very annoying how you only get one hit per lug, so if it’s still off you have to the menu for a clean slate. Now that’s just bad design.

Nice app and have used it for a few years. After the latest update I noticed the microphone stays on after closing DrumTuner and crashes another tuning app I have on my phone. When I shut this one down and open the other app that also uses the mic I have to go into settings and manually turn the access off in the Privacy settings.
Other than that its a great app for tuning. The individual lug tuning is a little sensitive an can wind up chasing your tail but if you get it within a couple of hz your fine.

I just wrote a review for DrumTuner, but I wanted to add a little to my review. This developer has also created metronome apps that I purchased in the bundle. I strongly encourage customers of DrumTuner (or not) to consider those apps as well. They are very good apps and are both thorough and straight forward. Check them out!!!

I have tried many tuners for the drums and non work. Finally I came cross DrumTuner and it works great! It’s easy to use and is accurate enough to easily tune my drums. There are just a few suggestions: Please make the background take up the full screen, please add a dark mode icon for iOS 18, and please make the buttons at the bottom of the main menu be a simple menu bar. It’s kinda annoying to have to slide through the buttons.

Be truthful to yourself… music is scientifically measurable. Why wouldn’t your drums?

There is no better way to learn. I am slowly gong through this online tutorial… the revelations!!! “So THAT’s what’s going on!!!???”

Ecstatic joy to finally dial-in a professional sound!!

I am a retired band teacher and a professional percussionist. I’ve been tuning drums by ear all of my life, and DrumTuner lets me dial in the lugs to a finer degree than my ear is able to accomplish.
I still like to get my pitches dialed in by ear first, and then use the lug tuning function to fine tune the head to itself. This improves the resonance and centers the fundamental.
Overall, I am very pleased.

Being a novice drum tuner I found DrumTuner to be the most important discovery I’ve made. Although I’ve tuned drums to ear and didn’t sound bad, using simple “turn lugs till the wrinkles are out” method can’t compare to actually using the science to tune drums. My drums sing and sound like any pro drummer touring with major acts. DrumTuner gave my vintage drums that pro sound!

DrumTuner is great; not only for helping tune my drums, but also for teaching (me at least) how and why particular sounds are created. I never had a good understanding of the relationship between batter head and resonant head; DrumTuner teaches how to tune both and make your drums sound great. Highly recommend.

DrumTuner literally changed my drum tuning world! I have some troublesome drums that I always hate tuning and “fighting” on a weekly basis. That all went away when I applied the theories and knowledge gained by reading the excellent tuning explanations included in DrumTuner , along with the simplicity of using the apps features. My drums have NEVER sounded this perfect. All I can say is, thank you!!!!!

I came back to drumming after a thirty year hiatus. Back then my Yamaha kit and I had severe disagreements over how it would sound. Before a gig I would struggle mightily with each drum trying to get the round, full sound I wanted. Eventually I would just throw in the towel—literally—and settle for a dull thud. Thirty years later I am old and fat and stuck at home with COVID on the loose and chemo therapy dogging my steps. My answer was to find myself a nice little Sonor kit and some cheap cymbals. After a few days of fiddling, I downloaded DrumTuner. Sure, drum head technology has advanced light years and drum shell manufacturing methods are far better. (I can now afford solid maple shells and a friend lent me his Noble & Cooley snare.) But, with DrumTuner, I now LOVE the sound of this kit. It is EXACTLY how I always envisioned my kit sounding. Now, if they could make an app to help my cymbals...

DrumTuner is absolute genius! I’ve tried so many of the other methods out there, but nothing has worked like this. I’ve been waiting my entire drumming career for something this precise to come along. In over 20 years I don’t feel I’ve been able to tune my drums exactly the way I want to until today. I can’t possibly recommend DrumTuner more!

I’ve been drumming since 1987 when I purchased my first kit - a Premier APK power Tom 5 piece- if I had DrumTuner then, I could just imagine what those drums would or could have sounded like! I was only 17 and had no clue how to tune a drum ( let alone tuna fish…but I digress) . Through the years I’ve struggled to get a great tone from any of my drums but finally I can with DrumTuner!!! I’ve used it on my Pearl Export kit and even on an old CB kit and the results were astounding!!!! This is such a great tool as your ears will always fool you- so with the visuals of accurate frequencies and helpful tutorials and explanations I finally can hear what my drums are supposed to sound like !!!! Thank YOU!!! ******* one slight inconvenience is DrumTuner wants to crash every so often so I look forward to any updates that might be coming ****

DrumTuner is truly amazing. Being relatively new to drumming, I was trying to learn everything about tuning and how drums actually work individually and in relation to one another. The tutorials are very well done and the explanations are easy to follow. Using DrumTuner takes all of the guess work out of tuning while still allowing you to use your ear. I get tons of compliments on how my drums sound. Get DrumTuner!!

Fantastic how accurate DrumTuner is in getting clean tones, I would recommend it to any drummer that struggles with tuning. Now, DrumTuner will get you about 80% of the way there, it helps to use each of DrumTuner ’s tools in the right sequence to slowly arrive at a particular note. But this takes away so much of the guesswork, easily worth buying.

I just got a Ludwig LM402 from Sweetwater and I am tuning it using the video instructions from the website super easy amazing sound I am very very happy and I would highly recommend this tool to anybody that wants to learn more about the science of tuning... I’ve been drumming for over 45 years I know a lot of different techniques and this is another great tool in my tool kit excited to try on other drums!

What you can do with DrumTuner is amazing! I have been a drummer for 60 years and a professional for a good part of that, including doing some studio work. After working with DrumTuner and spending time tuning up both the top and bottom of my drum heads, being careful to put them within the proper frequency ranges, my drums have never sound so good!
No matter how good a drummer you are, you will sound a whole lot better getting DrumTuner and properly tuning your drums. - Mike Gerdes Malvern, PA

I’ve been drumming for a little over a year. I bought a Mapex Armory drum set and my journey began. My focus was on the physical aspect and tuning was foreign and daunting. Got DrumTuner ,educated myself and took the plunge. It took some time to fully understand what was going on but once I got the hang of it it was brilliant!! This kit sounds amazing and every drum is tuned to the exact note! I even check and adjust before each session. From an absolute newbie I say thank you 😊

Never written a review before, but this worked so well I had to give credit where it’s due. I was seconds away from buying a drum dial when I had a thought to check DrumTuner Store first. I am so glad I did because DrumTuner saved me $50+ and it actually tells you if your drum is in tune as apposed to the drum dial which only tells you the amount of tension on the drum head. Which can be two completely different things, depending on the shape of your kit. So stoked with the product and price! You guys knocked it outa the park!

I make my living as a drum tech, and DrumTuner has upped my game. It makes tuning fast, easy and consistent, and the author’s tutorials are extremely helpful. The best thing about it is that anyone could use it to tune drums with relatively little time spent learning how. The only thing I need to point out for users is that other apps that use the microphone might conflict, so if you’ve just opened a guitar tuning app (for example) and find that DrumTuner isn’t getting information via the microphone, it’s best to close and reopen DrumTuner to get it working

I was considering a physical tuner but decided to give this a shot before spending much more. Ive got a good sense of tune but just needed some help getting me closer. This thing isn’t flawless but it got me 90% of the way there so I could fine tune the rest and now I’m much happier with the overall tone of my drums! The UI isn’t amazing but it’s got what I need and that’s what matters. For $10 I’m quite satisfied.
