Subscription! Why?!

BreathCompanion looked promising - the map you're greeted with looks super useful. But I wanted to use BreathCompanion to look up weapon details. This is gated behind a purchase, which is fine. What is *NOT* fine is making the *only* payment option a RECURRING SUBSCRIPTION.

Please, for the love of God, iOS app developers, provide one-time payment options as alternatives to subscriptions. Subscriptions invite a psychological effect referred to as "decision fatigue", which I am personally very susceptible to. Subscriptions are also vulnerable to what I call "spousal skepticism" - e.g. when your wife asks why you're spending $25/year on a phone app. Similarly, for many people, paying for a service that ends up going unused can feel significantly worse than paying once for something and never using it. The loss-aversion fear of "but what if I don't use it" is much stronger with a subscription than a single purchase. With the latter, you can rationalize it by reassuring yourself you can always use it later. With the former, you've lost that money.

In other words, the bar for enrolling in a $1/mo subscription can be MUCH higher than that of a single $20 purchase.

The Best Walkthrough

Breath of the Wild is an incredible game. There is so much to do in the game. That being said, it can be difficult to know what to do, how to do it, and keep track of what you have already done. BreathCompanion keeps track of what you’ve done (though checklists), provides information about what else needs to be done and has walkthroughs available. Without BreathCompanion, Breath of the Wild is a little daunting to complete. I’m not a full on casual player, but I’m not as skilled as some other people out there. Breath of the Wild is a game I truly want to complete 100%, and BreathCompanion really is helping me with that.

My only complaint is that BreathCompanion can be a little slow/laggy at times, but that’s not unexpected with how much information is on the map. Aside from that, this is a great app that is worth your time if you play Breath of the Wild.

Amazing app, with a few minor problems

I absolutely love BreathCompanion, it proved invaluable in finding all 900 Korok seeds. I don’t think that there’s a better compilation of Breath of the Wild information than what’s in BreathCompanion. If you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about the world of Hyrule, this is BreathCompanion to download.

However, I have two minor complaints that I’d like to issue. One is that tracking the specific locations of items in the compendium is inaccurate. For example, I needed a specific beetle for my armor to be improved, but it told me to look in the wrong place. I’m not sure it’s possible to implement this properly, but it didn’t work for me, and I tried multiple items. The second is very personal to me, but I feel it needs to be said: Korok seed #520. If you’re using the map to find them and you have stables also enabled for reference points (like I did) then the seed icon is completely hidden by the stable icon unless you zoom in all the way, and even then it’s still almost completely covered. Please change this, I spent 10 hours on 899 seeds and since I was using BreathCompanion as a reference I couldn’t find it for the longest time, genuinely thought my game glitched. Just make it so that seeds have priority over stables so that others won’t suffer as I have.

Great with one minor problem

Completely satisfied with BreathCompanion. I have purchased several of the paywalled options and having a convenient checklist was invaluable in finding which shrines I missed as well as upgrading armor. A very few items were inaccurate such as the 4th star for the Hylian armors being listed as needing 30 ambers, when in-game they only require 15.

My only real problem with BreathCompanion is with the Compendium. It does not seem to take Master Mode entries into account. The Sky Octorok and Golden enemies don’t have entries in BreathCompanion . If there is a way to enable Master Mode in BreathCompanion , I haven’t found it. If this could be fixed, it would be a five-star app.

THANK YOU!!!

Ok, to start thank you to the amazing people who made BreathCompanion. Your hard work saves me so much time every time I open the game! Your app is extremely useful, convenient and accurate. For that part of BreathCompanion , 10/10 recommend it for everyone. However, I feel like some of the paid features that are in “our other apps” should be free, or a one time purchase for everything. The subscription type payments for extra features is really high, and not worth buying. You might make more if you lowered the price by at least half, or turned them into one time purchases, each containing a specific amount of extra features that the individual is willing to pay for. I tried to rate it four and a half but BreathCompanion store won’t let me lol. Other than my listed complaints, I love BreathCompanion and use it all the time. If you took the time to read this, thank you and have a nice day!

Great but needs slight changes

So i originally downloaded BreathCompanion for koroks only because im trying to find all 900, I thought this would be helpful for a lot of other stuff but its all locked behind a paywall. now the developers did a great job im sure and the pay would be worth it perhaps but half the stuff people need is locked behind it
before i started my master mode run i had a great file already all shrines done but i broke it trying to get the bow of light, i had no clue of super overpowered weapons that fit the phase of the game i was in. Im happy however with the quality of BreathCompanion and it will be helping me a lot on my quest to %1000 the game. besides that the only thing that needs improvement is the accuracy of some things such as the apple tree outside of the shrine of resurrection not being marked as such, or it could just be me being dumb, for a teenager my brain is pretty slow 😅

Almost perfect game companion

Love BreathCompanion and the different options made available. It’s diverse and has great response to my needs.

Problems? Every so often BreathCompanion crashes when I am zoomed in more than halfway. Dragging the map around at anything OTHER than halfway lags the map.
Also, it says in a couple places to “feel free to email [the developer]” but BreathCompanion Store takes me to some German(?) site and there is no email that I saw listed within BreathCompanion .

Improvements? I have two wishes for BreathCompanion. I wish they had made an in-app purchase that combines the additional pages(compendium, recipes, monster information, etc.) and the removal of ads. Even if it’s the same price as buying them separate, I still think it should have been an option.
My second wish? I wish there was an option on the map to hide the areas of the map whose main towers I have not yet visited or do not wish to see. It’s a bit complicated trying to find where I am, sometimes, and being able to hide certain parts of the map would be an excellent tool to help me find my way.

Overall I love BreathCompanion. It is a nice, clean companion to my game. :)

Great but not completely accurate

Certain things on BreathCompanion aren't correct- for instance, the boarders aren't mapped off correctly so when someone tries to get Koroks based off of Tower Region, it's not entirely accurate. In this case, Korok #352 is not a part of the Lanayru Wetlands region, but rather the Akkala region. Other items of note would be how some of the treasures aren't mapped correctly- as in aren't in the exact location or don't appear in a certain mode. In order to better aid with accuracy, I would also suggest that the map resolution be increased in certain areas where one can zoom in and see a stark drop off in quality-- some sections of the map appear fuzzy at max zoom, while others are sharp and clear.

Overall, I think that it's a great app that I've supported and just wish to provide points that could be improved upon.

If you play Breath of The Wild you should get it!

BreathCompanion is AMAZING it’s basically a map that can help you keep track of what shrines, korok seeds, towers, settlements, etc that you have been too. You can set it up to only show what you don’t have yet or just to show everything! I find BreathCompanion perfect for making sure I get all the shrines and korok seeds! One feature that is an absolute 10/10 is if you tap on the shrine icons and press this button in the corner it will pull up a page that tells you how to do the shrine and what treasures to collect! This is great because now I can enjoy the game on my own but when I get stuck I have an user friendly resource I can rely on to get past the confusing less self explanatory parts of the game. I love BreathCompanion because now I know where to look for stuff I don’t have unlocked. I’d recommend BreathCompanion to anyone that gets confused with some shrines or doesn’t know where to look for something. It also has some other stuff like recipes that you have to pay for, I don’t have it and I don’t plan on buying it but it seems like it would be a great resource as well. I would understand why BreathCompanion isn’t completely free because of how great it is! Luckily for me the map with all the shrines, korok seeds, etc is free! I rate BreathCompanion an 10/10 because of how excellent it is, if you can’t decide to download it, just get it, you won’t be dissappointed!

Perfect for shrine completion

After I downloaded the map or whatever this was super easy to use for completing all the shrines. I only had about 15 left and BreathCompanion makes it really easy for you to go through all the shrines you’ve completed and has the perfect feature for marking them off as you go. Haven’t gone full completionist yet so I can’t speak to any other features, but as a casual player finishing these shrines has been really annoying so I’m grateful that this feature is available for free, esp considering the only other option was a google doc spreadsheet lol.

Absolutely Essential for BOTW

I used BreathCompanion constantly as I made my way through BOTW. It is a vast game unlike any other Zelda — and I have played them all. If anything it is your number one source for temples, Korok seeds, and treasures. The map is extremely useful as well. I wasn’t sure how I would integrate this into game play initially, having only ever used printed guides in the past, but I found it indispensable. There are of course a lot of free resources available on line to get through the game, but this provides a useful check list as you find items and complete levels. There are details and video links to get you through each temple. Well done and well worth getting.

Very helpful with a couple of minor issues

This was invaluable in trying to get all 900 korok seeds, and also finding/completing all side quests to 100% the game. I’m also using it to get the monster medals for Talus, etc. Sometimes it’s sluggish when checking off an item (and I’m on an iPad Pro), and other times the map will suddenly jump WAY off the borders and be zoomed all the way in. So I have to zoom it back out and then find myself again on the map. I originally thought BreathCompanion didn’t have separate normal/master mode profiles, but I found that setting so I can use it for both. The developer was very helpful when I emailed.

4.5 stars for the free version

Recently, my husband got his own Switch, so we started playing Breath of the Wild side-by-side. We pick a few tasks—clear a map area, defeat 4 shrines, find a specific shield, etc—and complete them in whatever order we feel. He has beaten the game before, while my play through was a bit more thorough (even though i never actually beat Gannon!). We’re having fun working together to solve puzzles but still have control of our own Links.

The map has been invaluable to this. We keep careful track of everything we do in-game and in BreathCompanion . The only downside: Free means fewer features. That’s fine. Still find myself having to google the best way to beat a silver Lynel, though.

Excellent

Breath of the wild is intensely intricate. There are many facets to it and in order to track your own progress you end up relying on multiple online sources. 900 koroks, 100 dungeons, >200 items in the compendium. BreathCompanion simplifies this to one app. You can track nearly everything. It is all of those online resources rolled into one handy app that is able to keep up with your game. Interactive lists and hard to find information. I don’t usually get in app purchases but after seeing what was free, I bought the pack after just a couple of minutes. It takes a very useful resource and turns it into an extremely useful resource. Five stars cause it won’t go any higher

Quality and value

I give BreathCompanion 5 stars because of the depth of detail given to the game in this. There are things in the game I didn’t even know I could have been doing if it were not for this companion app. I believe people’s work is worth a fair wage and the price to unlock all checklist was quite worth it in my opinion. Think of the time the developer put in to the screen shots, into the mapping, into the database development. Then think about the time it saves you searching for something in the game? It’s a no brainer. I would give 6 stars if I could if they would add one additional feature.
I suggest a recipe function where I type in (or snap a photo in BreathCompanion ) my available items for cooking. The database then shows all possible combinations of food and elixirs I could make with what I have. Add some more logic and it could show me that I could make such and such, but find one more of an item and I could make an even better elixir or food item. Lots of possibilities.
It would also be nice to turn off in BreathCompanion the displays of the games expansion pack purchases. I don’t wanna buy the expansion packs until I finish the original, but the checklist still shows the stuff for the expansions.
Thanks for the hard work and good app!

Help.

So I got BreathCompanion, and I was so excited, and I saw the things that your had to spend money on, and I was fine with that. I mean, most of botw guides are like 30 bucks, and this was 4 dollars. I couldn't download the map, because we had to go on a big car trip right after I downloaded BreathCompanion , so I didn't have any wifi. When we got home I was so excited, I would hang in the basement and get all the shrines in the game. But when I tried to download it, it said the servers weren't working or something. I was so mad, because I was finally going to find the shrines. I tried it again and again, but it didn't work. I'm not sure if it's my phone or what, but please fix this! And I will guarantee you will get that 4 dollars. I'm going to get a iTunes gift card soon.
Thank you for reading.

Great help from start to finish

When I started the game I knew nothing I didn’t even know how to jump! Let me tell you I was terrible. I wanted to play more often so I was searching to see if their was a mobile game of this but this came up so I got it is really helped like a lot I would not use it often because I would like to figure it out myself but if your really struggling like me if really helped! I got the hang of the game and would not use very often but if their was a shrine I could not find or a chest I was looking for it was really useful! I definitely would not have been able to defeat Gabon without it. I don’t think it is really cheating more of just help when your stuck and it really makes it easier! I do recommend BreathCompanion

Must Have for Breath of the Wild Players

I downloaded BreathCompanion when I realized the breath and scope of the game was going to be something I needed help on. Honestly I used it so often that I wish it had a way to integrate into the game itself.

Having it open while playing made the game more fun for me since it does not automatically give you anything. Just shows you where to go to get something. The journey and travel to that location is up to you and still requires lots of good game play and decisions. Being able to plan out a 2hr timespan in the game makes playing such a massive game possible in small doses. It just been invaluable.

There is a reason it’s number one when looking up anything related to the game. With BotW 2 just announced I hope that these folks can keep up the good work, because I will need your dedication and help again.

Absolutely Amazing

So many features. I do recommended spending 4 or 6 bucks to get extra goodies and maybe the ad free version. But there are so many options and setting available free that you don’t *need* to. My only complaint is it can be a little slow and finicky sometime but you get used to it. You can toggle shrines, chests, and seeds, etc you’ve already obtained to make the map less cluttered. I suspect maybe it’s my iPhone 6S (broke my iPhone 8 w/o insurance was 3 days over warranty) that’s making it a bit slow but it does not by any means take away from the sheer hard work and dedication put into BreathCompanion. Since the Zelda world is something like 4x as big as Skyrim or something, or something to that degree. It’s actually based on a real city in japan and how long it would take to walk to one end to the other. And there is so much detail and helpful tips. Totally worth 5 or 6 bucks like I said to support the Dev. - 5 starts, 10/10 would use all play throughs.

BEST APP EVER

BreathCompanion IS AMAZING!!! IT WORKS SUPER WELL AND IS NOT A SCAM. It has no ads (at least for me), and it comes with all the stuff you need for free, and the bonus stuff costs money which you don’t need, but is still very useful, and it has very cool guides on how to do things, and is very accurate and tells you where things are and how to get them. Personally if you have Zelda Breath of the Wild, you should get BreathCompanion it is amazing, I have used it a lot, especially when I got the bonus dlc for 20$ which I also recommend. Also no bugs, viruses, or any scams, just the things explained and showed. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!

Features

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U video game consoles.

Critics praised the game's open-ended, physics-driven gameplay that encourages player experimentation and exploration, with many calling it a landmark title in open-world game design, although minor criticism was directed at the game's technical performance at launch.

The game is a part of The Legend of Zelda series, and follows amnesiac protagonist Link, who awakens from a hundred-year slumber to a mysterious voice that guides him to defeat Calamity Ganon before he can destroy the kingdom of Hyrule.

Breath of the Wild was a launch title for the Switch, as well as the final Nintendo-produced game for the Wii U.
