Absolutely brilliant!!

I used MyTaylorMadeOnCourse for the first time yesterday. I have an apple watch with built-in gps so i was able to just use my watch to record shots and clubs used - the phone was in my bag during the whole round.

Using the watch in-game is pretty straight forward. I'm able to get yardage (thanks to the gps feature which is pretty accurate for the most part), select my club, and record the shot. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse also uses that data to make club suggestions for future holes and rounds - which is very helpful at this stage of my game.

Post-game, I pulled up my phone and the stats were all there. I was able to review the shot distances and where they landed - i found this very useful, especIally the tee shots. I could see whether i missed the fairway left or right for each hole (mostly right for this round - something I'd have to work on :) ).

There’s something to be said about not having to worry about wrestling a piece of paper and pencil just to keep score. With MyTaylorMadeOnCourse being 100% free (at least at the time of this comment), I probably would have just been happy with the stellar score keeping and tracking feature. Everything else is just a bonus. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is a real contender against all the other expensive paid ones in my opinion. I hope they keep up with the development and update it on a regular basis.

Bad GPS tool, bad interface, great stats

I love the way they report stats and use the strokes lost metric. It is super helpful in informing where you need to improve your game...

Unfortunately the interface is super lacking. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is pretty much useless as a general GPS app. It does not passively give yds to points of interest and getting yardage from a spot is clunky. I want yards to layup points and to bunkers, front back of green, etc. When I use MyTaylorMadeOnCourse I use Golfshot gps for my general yardage and score keeping. The only reason I even open MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is for the metrics that can be taken off of your shot placement and performance.

Another glaring issue with the interface is how they handle puts and the green. It often doesn’t let me move the flag after asking me to move the flag. Why not allow you to quickly mark current location as the flag location? It is very difficult to correctly position put points and the flag because of how they position the touch point under your finger a little too much.

All of the interface issues are frustrating. Not sure if I’ll keep up with MyTaylorMadeOnCourse or not. If a competitor provides strokes gained metrics and a better interface I’d probably move. If TaylorMade can work out it’s glaring interface problems they may be able to pull me from golfshot. The lack of updates don’t show promise.

Best golf app I’ve used!

Such a handy app that also goes to the watch. Track all your shots on a round to see where you can improve. Takes hardly no time to check distance and set club to see exactly how a round went. GPS is usually good +/- 5 yards. (Can’t complain about it not being 100% down to the yard because I’m not THAT good where I can dial to a few yards difference. Being able to do betting games with it is awesome.

Only two things that would be awesome to add would be an automatic handicap calculator and on the watch, add a way to check distance to hazards.

Love it, don’t use anything else!

The Golf App I’ve Been Looking For

I’ve literally tried them all, but for a stats nerd like me MyGolfPro finally seems to be MyTaylorMadeOnCourse I’ve been looking for. Simple, accurate shot tracking with an abundance of actually USEFUL stats. The visuals of the charts are very clean and easy to read. Inputting data during a round is a breeze.

BIG BONUS: Apple Watch app has FULL functionality without ever needing to open the phone app during a round.

3 suggestions for future releases:
1. When using the Apple Watch during a round it would be nice to be able to open the phone and have it synced with the current data to that point so that I can dial in putting specifics immediately after each hole instead of after the round.

2. A corresponding website would be HUGE. Being able to review stats on my laptop instead of always on the phone would be the icing on the cake.

3. Score integration with GHIN would put this over the top.

Really nice work TaylorMade. Thank you for the incredible, free app!

Pretty good for the casual golfer!

I don’t play religiously, but I like to have game metrics and free maps, and this gives you that. The GPS doesn't seem 100% accurate, but close enough for getting a decent reality check on yardage for club selection. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse eats battery and I’m constantly cutting close to going through my battery before my 18 holes are up!

Few suggestions:

1) Need to expand the club selection for building your bag, even if it means having a fill-in to add your clubs. Muira and Honma are both missing from the standard selections, and it seems there’s enough of these out there to warrant adding them!

2) Need a way to ID club beyond “SW” or “D”. For instance, mini drivers register as drivers, and I know enough people who carry one in place of a 3W, and I personally carry an extra wedge and have a hard time IDing it after hitting w/o knowing which SW is which.

3) It might be nice to add an in-app camera function to take a picture at any given strike point. Sometimes some memorable things happen, and it would be nice to capture it as part of the round recordings.

I love this app!

I used it for the first time a couple days ago using my Apple Watch. It’s very easy to use - just a couple taps to add the next shot and select a club. Takes only a few seconds. The only issue I have is adding the putts. Using the watch you just put in the number of putts and then you come back later to record the putt distances on the phone app. So I need to have a way to record the putt distances separately so I can do that. It would be nice if that could be done on the watch in real time.

App keeps crashing

So MyTaylorMadeOnCourse itself is pretty good, the stats it gives are great and really helps when I practice. The use is a little clunky and difficult to get used to but I figure that’ll get better overtime as I get used to it

One of the flaws is that the gps doesn’t recognize distances automatically if you’re not in the fairway. I’ve had shots where I was only about 5 yards off the fairway and it was already outside of the “recognized area” and only gives me the distance after I submit the shot and choose a club in MyTaylorMadeOnCourse

Also since the last update which was about 2 weeks ago, MyTaylorMadeOnCourse crashes immediately after opening and it looks like I’m not the only one with this problem. 2 weeks seems like a pretty long time to not fix such a huge issue.

Terrific

I used MyTaylorMadeOnCourse when it was exclusively on Microsoft platform and the band automatically counted strokes. I have been recently using Track My Golf, which automatically counts strokes, shot distance and swing speed. This week I was using the Beta version of MyTaylorMadeOnCourse in conjunction with Track My Golf .

My Round Pro was and will be the only app you need. It does need a watch app, automatic stroke counting and a way to reduce battery consumption. But at the end of every round, you know on a map exactly WHERE you hit every shot and with which club. The extent of statistics is unprecedented, exposing every area of weakness and strength.
The GPS is very accurate, with a couple of mistakes, and the map layout in pre-shot planning is very helpful.

And it's free, which only confirms the TaylorMade commitment to making us better golfers.

I have not been paid or received any compensation for this review. It is my truthful evaluation. Hit them straight and long.

Saving the score taking too long

Update Feb 10, 2022: After a note from the developer that the issue had been fixed, I played a round yesterday. After 24 hours, MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is still working on processing to “complete” my round… Update Dec 31, 2021: I started to use MyTaylorMadeOnCourse a few days, it worked fine until today…my round could not be synced from my Apple Watch to my iPhone again! During the past month or so, saving the score recorded on Apple Watch to the phone has been taking too long ranging from several minutes to forever... I even deinstalled MyTaylorMadeOnCourse and then reinstalled MyTaylorMadeOnCourse , the situation did not improve. Could someone on the support team take a look at the issue? Thanks.

Mixed thoughts

App seems to be well put together. Give a nice data display. My biggest problem with MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is no Apple Watch support. I get that MyTaylorMadeOnCourse came about with the help of Samsung. I feel that taylormade being the size they are wouldn’t have to restrict MyTaylorMadeOnCourse to Samsung Watch by going into a contract.

Also needs to be able to edit course data for personal use. I’ve played a par 3 course and it claims there are par 4s and 5s on it. Which changes the data statistics.

I currently don’t use it based on pace of play and having to mess with my phone all day. If I could use my watch I think it would be a 4/5 or 5/5 star app.

Without question the best

As amateur, I didn’t know if spending a couple hundred dollars on a rangefinder, but I wanted to know my distances when on the course. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse does that pretty accurately, sometimes dead on and sometimes 5 yards off (As an amateur precise numbers aren’t dependent on your game.) Along with distance to the pin abilities, it also keeps track of each clubs distances and averages them for you. Taylormade has done a phenomenal job on MyTaylorMadeOnCourse. I’m surprised it’s free..I’m thankful it’s free.

WAS top notch before the update

I had been using TM app for a while when it was actually free and the absolute best free golf tracker app.
I used to be able to mark each shot with the apple watch, and using gps get decent readings to the pin.
I always kind of knew they were aware they were giving too much so i hoped they wouldnt end up being another subscription based service.
But lo and behold, it happened. So now you have to subscribe to use the most useful features of MyTaylorMadeOnCourse , and now i cant even access my past data.
Thanks for the data while it lasted now its just some other score keeping app.

Great app, but with one drawback

Great app with plenty of features for any golfer. Distances are close enough (within +-1 - 3ish yards), and the shot tracking is really cool. The issue is that I’m an iPhone user. I don’t like the Apple Watch and I don’t want to pull my phone out on every shot. I do have a Galaxy Gear S3 watch, but it won’t work with the iPhone app. Not sure if it’s possible between the different platforms, but if the iOS app could work with the Samsung watch app, that would be 5 stars great!!

Dumpster fire

MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is trash. Been using it for about 6 months now hoping it would improve. It hasn’t. I can understand course not being up to date and such, but this thing doesn’t even put me on the tee box. Just yesterday is had me playing a hole backwards and hitting my drive from someone’s driveway behind the hole. To me it’s worthless if I have to go home and try to remember every shot I took and move them in MyTaylorMadeOnCourse . The distances are even close. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse will just add to your frustration when trying to figure out what you’re doing right or wrong after playing. Don’t waste your time. They should stick to making clubs!

Awesome! But needs something...

Love MyTaylorMadeOnCourse. used it the other day and I think it's a great idea! I wish there was a way to go back and place your shots. Or a "hole editor" to make sure your shots were in the correct location. I started using this on the 2nd hole... 1st hole is a par 4... it now shows I have 3 shots from hole 2 tee box and 1 putt... I wish I could go back and place where those 3 shots actually were. I'm sure that will come shortly, I just need to make sure I tap the button right before I hit.

Loved this app with my Microsoft Band

The stats it created were great. Can't wait to try this with my watch. Thank you!

Update: the Apple watch app is good. I think the button to select the next shot needs to be moved from the bottom of the watch more towards the middle.

Also, it would be nice to be able to select the type of shot (chip, pitch, recovery, etc.) when reviewing your round. It may add another data point for statistics.

App is good, but would be better with compatible website

I like using MyRoundPro to track my stats on course - it is by far the best golf app for this. I know there used to be a MyRoundPro website, but it no longer exists. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse would be perfect with a compatible website - please, please, please put it back online. Cheers :)

Awesome!!

I have used so many apps for keeping track of my golf game. This one is by far my favorite. The statistics are so impressive and actually helpful. So many other apps just to give you semi-interesting statistics but nothing really useful. I’ve been really impressed and found it extremely easy to use and I have used other things like game golf and the grint. This is the winner by far.

Upgrade Erased All Data

App auto upgraded (my fault for letting it) and now all my previous data is gone. All my rounds shot by shot from last year.

I switched to this one because it’s feature rich and worked right out of the box. I would’ve gladly paid a few bucks a month because I really did like it. But now no way. It’s just turning into a copy of all the others, login with social media account, give it access to all your contacts and pay for every feature.

Shame this was one of the good ones.

Very thorough

MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is amazing for inputting your stats and shots after your round. I do not find MyTaylorMadeOnCourse very good for trying to use during your round. If you want to track shots and input more of your own stats during the round you cannot add other players in your group and keep their scores. MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is also missing a lot of clubs to add to your bag for example the Callaway Mavrik. 5 stars for stat keeping, 1 star for during round usability.

More User Friendly

I too have been trying to like MyTaylorMadeOnCourse but it requires too many steps. It is great that you can track all your stats if that is what you like to do but it would be nice to be able to choose what if any stats you want to track each round. An option for just GPS and scoring would be nice to have if you wanted to use it that way too. It has potential and is off to a good start but still needs some work.

Great App, but some big issues!

I love that it is a free app and there aren’t ads being shoved down the user throat! Also, being a data junkie, I really enjoy the stoke gained statistics.

That said, MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is killer on your battery and you need to bring an external battery pack with you if you want your phone to last a whole 18. Also, the gps is not very good.

I’d say MyTaylorMadeOnCourse is a 5/5 if they could fix the battery drain and improve the gps accuracy.

Just wondering why every time I use the app for my games off my Apple Watch it saves then a couple of days later 1 or both my rounds of 9 hole are gone
