Latest app update (1.4.2) COMPLETELY RUINED Waffle . Ads now show up before playing videos which is an absolute no-go and a reason for me to uninstall Waffle alone! You also removed picture in picture mode again, out of nowhere. Beyond that, the Subscriptions tab is now completely gone so I can’t easily follow and access subscribed videos, instead replaced with a useless local videos tab. Settings were buried into left hand column instead of having their own tab. DO NOT UPDATE! What a waste of an app.

Great app, have been using it for months and have recommended it to friends. However, for a few days now I have been experiencing occasional crashes during videos. More importantly, when I press the subscriptions tab on the bottom, videos do not seem to load at all (stuck on loading screen). I will continue to use Waffle but if these issues don’t get solved I might switch to another. Thanks anyway!

When I first installed this app, it was an amazing app that had everything I wanted. There was great video play back and seeing my own subscriptions. I see the latest one now and it’s replaced with playlist? Why not just add another tab and name it playlist? Playback now it’s more specific where I’d have to hold down my finger and sometimes it wouldn’t work. What ends up happening is the video stays where it’s at and the audio plays the same. It can sometimes glitch the video and not work.

- No background video play
- Video player is slow to load and unresponsive
-Ads will often play in the background with no way to stop the music or close the ad
-No tab to view your subscription’s recent uploads
-App will crash if your phone is locked for more than a couple minutes
-Still no support for video captions
-Still no ability to shuffle videos on playlists

Waffle had none of these issues before the most recent updates. I can understand bugs being introduced unintentionally with new updates but why are already existing features being removed? It’s inexcusable, pure and simple.

Edit: Latest update just dropped, background play is still broken, subscription feed is still missing, and basic features like subtitles or shuffling playlists are still absent. Don’t bother with Waffle

Even after the 1.4.3 update background play is still not a thing. The video keeps resetting after you use the scrub bar or Waffle crashes. Honestly thought they would fix it by now but I guess background playing will no longer be a thing since it hasn’t been fixed?? Same thing with the scrub bar you’re forced to watch the video with no means of replay or just risk Waffle crashing on you. I wanted to give Waffle a chance but this comes to show you can never trust updates to make things “better”. Time to move on to a new app.

Waffle is very disappointing currently. Not only has at individuals commenting on the background play, but that is what I’m complaining about as well. I’ve waited for several giving a chance for the background player to work, however it never was fixed even when Waffle said it was “fixed.” I’m really hoping Waffle fix the background play ASAP. Also, I can’t even listen to music or videos when I turn my phone off, however I can listen to music and video if it’s on. I’m feeling really bad about Waffle currently and is currently looking for another app that has all these problems fixed. PLEASE fix the background player ASAP.

Right now I currently have be same problems as Dvebebe. I have had this wonderful app for a while, but recently I updated Waffle and I have a problem where when I listen to much or watch videos and leave Waffle the video or music immediately stops playing. In addition to this problem whenever I turn off my phone to listen to music or listen to the videos it immediately stops playing as well. I tried turning my phone on and off and it give me the same results with immediately stops playing. When will this problem be fixed?? I really hope this problem can be fixed as soon as po

I don’t know what changed in the last few days but now when I open Waffle I get this repetitive jingle that won’t stop. It’s like it’s an ad on loop with no words but it’s not a pop up or anything so you can’t make it go away, and it doesn’t stop when playing videos or minimizing Waffle - I notice it also cause my phone to lose battery extremely fast and the phone gets burning hot while Waffle runs. So basically Waffle can’t be open without burning the phone and user while it plays this weird jingle for no reason with no way to stop. Thanks for ruining a good app. I’ll just find something else.

The title says it all. The background video play feature was removed in the apps most recent update.
I have read through the developer responses, and on further inspection, they seem to claim that a persistent issue is fixed—it is not.
I would’ve been fine if this was a simple mistake, but as a consumer I’m displeased that the developers are responding to the issue of 1.3.3’s feature removal with misinformation and false claims.
The background video and audio play for Waffle was revoked completely, and until this is fixed (or the feature is removed from Waffle ’s “claims”) my review will remain 1 star.

I’ve been using Waffle for a good while now. It’s been great... Until two updates ago. What happened?! I see a lot of people complaining about the background play missing now, which was a huge feature. And the absolute most unforgiving thing that happened is the subscription feed got taken out all together. That one feed is the only feed that’s important. But even then Waffle now only offers exactly ONE option for receiving videos. And that’s the “Popular” feed. Why do I care about that? This is incredibly frustrating. You know, the background play I miss it a lot. It was a great feature. But to limit the available feeds to “Popular” is upsetting to say the least. I’m not sure if this is the same guy but I’ve had to jump to new apps like this almost yearly for the past three years or so. And they do this exact same thing. They essentially “break” the current app and release a new one. And the new one has no connection to the old one. Why? My guess is they want people to rebuy a new app. Since the new app will magically have all the features the old one did. Gross.

Most recent update completely ruined Waffle .

1) Subscription feed removed. Worse still, there is now absolutely no way to view this feed. This is like removing the guide channel from a television; navigation is now tedious if not entirely impossible.

2) Background play removed. This was the only thing that separated this video player from the hundreds on Waffle store. Without this feature, there is little to no reason to use Waffle .

3) Scrubbing is completely busted. You can only successfully rewind or fast forward about 10% of the time. The other 90%, either the video player refuses to rewind / fast forward, or Waffle crashes altogether. And for the cherry on top, the 15 second rewind / fast forward buttons no longer work.

As far as I’m concerned, Waffle is now entirely and completely useless until future notice.

Hopefully the developer can reverse the update, or put out a new update that fixes these MAJOR bugs.

So when I first got Waffle it worked great, and it had enough useful features to keep me using it.
Then, they got rid of being able to have videos play in the background. While I wasn’t happy about it, I stuck with it and it still worked fine.
Now, they’ve removed the menu to see your subscriptions, and with that I'm not using Waffle anymore. What’s the point of using Waffle when many others have the basic function of SEEING YOUR OWN SUBSCRIPTIONS.

Update: I've just updated to the most recent version, and it still crashes on livestreams. Also, I have emailed the developer about this and some other things, and have yet to get a response. GRRR!!!!!!!!!

First of all, let me say I am totally blind, and use Waffle with a Mini IPad4 Voiceover enabled, latest version of IOS. I like that you can check out comments and can even comment if logged in, though I haven't tested that out. However, whenever I try to play a livestream, the whole app crashes. I've updated to the latest version. Please fix this asap!!!!

It’s a decent app with background support. Most of the adverts are usually not annoying. However, sometimes the audio from the advert continues even when I get rid of the ad.

Lately, the background feature isn’t even working. The sound fades and if I press the play button, the Apple Music app plays instead.

I’ve shut down my iPhone and restarted it. Deleted and reinstalled Waffle . Hasn’t worked.

I've been using Waffle for the past couple days and generally like it. Several things annoy me though. First of all, you can't filter your searches at all (no option to search by video length or upload date, etc). Second, Waffle crashes on me a least a 2 times per day. Finally, you can't minimize a video while it's playing and search for other videos at the same time.

ProTube was probably the most-used app on my iPad until it got pulled and updates stopped. This is the closest thing I’ve seen to a successor in terms of a no-BS app that just plays videos and can read your subscription feed.

Auto-fullscreen on video start would be nice, and I’d also like the ability to disable video suggestions. ProTube had some black magic that let it play high-res and 60fps videos, but that might also be the reason it got yanked. I can totally understand if the dev doesn’t want to fly too close to the sun.

I’ve had Waffle for a few months now and it’s been working perfectly. I love it and it’s very useful, but about three days ago my background play stopped working. If I have a video playing and I leave Waffle , it stops playing. If I shut off my phone while still in Waffle , whatever I have playing immediately stops. I’ve tried turning my phone on and off and even deleting and re-installing Waffle but it’s still not working. I really hope this issue can be resolved because this app is a great app that I’ve gotten attached to and the background play is the best part. I really don’t want to find an alternative!

I’ve had Waffle for months and months and would use it everyday. The new update took away the background playback feature which is the main feature of Waffle, to me. Waffle is simple and easy to use, but without the background playback feature, it’s like any other app. Please advise.

So Waffle ’s been working great, crashed every once in a while, no biggie. But since I updated, I can’t watch videos. It just stays on that black screen with the loading circle. I can read the description, see recommended, comments, all that, but it never loads the actual video. I uninstalled and reinstalled Waffle , and it still does this.

So far, it’s pretty good. Could use some new features like minimizing video in app, playback speed, sleep timer and CC, but those are luxuries, and the dev might not have time for that atm. Otherwise, it’s a pretty nice player and I can’t wait for new features.

I love Waffle it’s my favorite and it’s one the only apps I use,but there’s an issue,I make little videos with songs I need to know the lyrics and what to do but now the screen won’t come out anymore and also my subscribers videos I don’t know if they made anymore because it’s replaced with playlist which I wouldn’t be as made about but that doesn’t even work so play fix there two things before I find something like Waffle but better 😔
