Do not believe all the “rave” reviews and after my experience with ElkCurrencyConverter and the support (none existing), I question the legitimacy of the so called “awards.” The UI was poorly designed, the UX was also lacking. Features are almost none other than pick your currency and go with it. The 14 days free trial was just a click-bait to get you into paying them now but charge later scam. Some reviewers mentioned this might even be a subscription based service!!!!! What’s more frustrating, was the support which is none. I sent them an email requesting clarification on the purchase (I don’t want subscribe to a currency converter), there was zero responses. I’m concerned they may even forwarded my email address to spammers. All in all, poor product, poor support, and questionable recognitions.

ElkCurrencyConverter has absolutely sacrificed usability and functionality for minimal design, and yet is still shocking difficult to use. Weirdly easy to set custom conversion rates, but very hard to revert them back to the live currency rate. As far as I can tell, no way to set a specific value and have ElkCurrencyConverter convert for you, just a static list of small dollar conversions. Skip at all costs, pretty at first, absolutely useless for frequent travelers. Apparently designed by someone who never actually converts money. You’d be better off scratching multiplication tables in the sand.

The watch app is crashing left and right for me. If I don't interact with ElkCurrencyConverter or if I interact with it too fast or if I try to enter settings the watch app crashes.
I wanted to submit a bug report or at least get in contact with the developer but I didn't find any way to do so.
I subscriber to ElkCurrencyConverter so that I can convert to and from my currency but the apple watchapp is stuck on EUR USD.
If the apple watch app would be usable ElkCurrencyConverter would deserve 5 stars but right now I just simply can't use ElkCurrencyConverter so I give it 1 star.

Very cool app and the concept is easy. so why two stars? Because it lacks figures under 10 pesos and from 1 million to 10 million it lists it as K’s. So one million is not 1M, but 1,000K. 2 million is 2,000K and so on. Until you get to 10
million which finally shows as 10M.

I personally would drop the K. For example, instead of 100k I would list it as 100,000. it goes up to 99,000, it’s not too much to just add one more digit, up to a million then use the M for the millions.

I have shown ElkCurrencyConverter to several people and they all got confused. out of 11 people 4 eventually figured it out, but took then a few minutes, and the test I had to explain it to then and they hated it. Even though I figured it out, I won’t don’t use ElkCurrencyConverter often because of these issues.

Due to my job I deal a lot with large figures, in the hundred of thousands and millions of pesos, so this is a deal breaker for me and I have to use the EX app but most often a good old calculator.

Recently with my Apple Watch I ask SIRI to convert x amount of Mexican pesos to US dollars and she does it.

Very elegant application with a simple interface. I’m using it all the time during my trip overseas. The Apple Watch app is really convenient.

The only issue I’ve encountered recently is that the watch app tends to reset the entered value to 10 often. This is quite annoying and should be an easy fix. Just don’t reset the previously entered value please.

Update: ElkCurrencyConverter on that Apple Watch continues to be buggy. It crashes constantly and always resets my prior values entered. I’m starting to regret buying ElkCurrencyConverter.

App does what it says it does effectively and the widget and watch apps are quite great. The only additional thing I would like to be able to do with ElkCurrencyConverter is show more than just 2 currencies at once, especially within the widget.

This is my favorite currency conversion app of all time. Very simple and intuitive, although it takes a moment because it's so different than what you expect. Great app. I only wish it were even easier to swap currencies.

I had been looking for an easy to use currency exchange calculator, and Elk is hands down the best I’ve used. I show it to everyone I travel with, and they immediately download it after seeing how simple and beautiful the interface is. No more typing in numbers.

I live abroad from my home country and travel around other countries occasionally too. My wife and I are from separate currencies. We both find this tool helpful for day to day use and for our travels. It’s rare I find a travel app so helpful. Thank you for a great app and for keeping it up to date!

I used Elk while traveling 5 months in Central America. It was a life saver! My favorite feature is that it automatically detects where you are and when you open ElkCurrencyConverter , the appropriate currency is right there. No detach or cumbersome typing while shopping. I love ElkCurrencyConverter! If you travel often you need this!

Used for our trip both planning for and then traveling abroad and it was incredibly fast, accurate, intuitive, I would have a range of answers ready before my husband could even load the Google app to type it in, and Siri voice was 30-50% accurate. Worth the money.

But here I am! Best currency converting app for the casual use no unnecessary features! Works perfectly on the watch too.

Only feedback for the devs, is on the watch, please make the crown control box move to the number on the far right when added, it will make entering something like 15 or 150 much easier.

I just wish that I had the option that once I’m in a higher denomination such as 1000’s that I could tap again to not only show 100’s but show the 10’s place, and then tap again etc. just for a really accurate conversion. Maybe a swipe to close that level and return back a level.

After the trial, ElkCurrencyConverter will only open the function of converting popular currency to local currency for free, and pay $25 to unlock all currencies and custom exchange rates.

ElkCurrencyConverter has a really unique and novel way of changing the values, but it’s remarkably simple. Swipe right to add 10x, swipe left to go down 10x. Tap a value to see all the tenths in between. It’s really all you need. It may not be down to the penny, but as a travel tool, how often do you need that level of accuracy?

All around, easy to use, and super quick to get a conversion. A+

Great, easy app that is well designed and gives you what you want to know in as few taps or swipes as possible, but I wish you named it or gave it an image that indicates what it does!! What does the word “elk” or the image of an elk have to do with currency conversion? I have so many apps on my phone that I rely on ElkCurrencyConverter image or name to tell me what it does, especially for an app that I need to use only a few times a year.

I use ElkCurrencyConverter everytime I travel. It's super easy to use and well designed. Much less clunky than other apps and gets to the point. Swiping for different amounts is great! Like another review mentioned the only feature I would like is a favorite currencies list or something where I can see multiple currencies at once. As we often travel through multiple countries on a trip.

My fav app when I travel it is so easy and fast, I love it BUT..
Favorites feature must be added... like, it has got to be featured otherwise I’ll continue to use some other currency converter that automatically converts all currencies saved in favorites so I can compare in each currency at the same time.
It is absolutely necessary. Multiple currencies need to be converted at the same time rather than going back and forth over and over...

What ElkCurrencyConverter has done, it has done well (Except the lock screen implementation is not live.) However it is still not my go to converter app since it lacks multiply currencies. There is lots of room on the display unused, why not create additional columns for additional currencies. An auto font resizing based on the amount of currencies being converted would be the best emplementation. ElkCurrencyConverter also provided CAD to me for free but did not provide it to my friend, go figure.
For me I still prefer to use ElkCurrencyConverter called Converter+, includes multiply currencies and converts anything to anything.

Most conversion apps require you to tap keys on the iPhone or even worse into them on the Apple Watch… But ElkCurrencyConverter allows you to quickly estimate the cost of some thing in a foreign currency using swipes in simple taps
