Note takers beware

I take a lot of notes while reading, and when I have gotten a thought down, half the time I delete it because if you accidentally tap *anywhere* outside of the note—such as the dimmed background outside the note modal dialog, including just below the text box where you might be trying to reposition the cursor—then it doesn’t save your note. You must tap the save button and be careful not to touch anything else or bump your phone, otherwise it’s lost. There is already a cancel button and I can even go delete a note if I regret writing it for some reason. The default should always be to save user input immediately and durably.

This problem is exacerbated when attempting to take notes on a handheld iPad, and multiplied tenfold if you try to use an Apple Pencil to take notes. Good luck with that.

Additionally, I read a lot at night. Every note pops up a non-dark mode keyboard and a bright white modal dialog takes up most of the screen, blinding me and causing me to forget whatever thought I wanted to write down on the highlight I had just made. Seemingly a symptom of lacking any actual dark mode outside the reader theme, as switching to another book at night is also blinding.

It’s a shame how difficult and dangerous it is to take notes, since this is one of the few apps with any kind of note export support (you can get a CSV of highlights and notes from the web app). Until these problems are fixed, I’ll be stuck with Google Play Books 😓

Really nice!

I really like BookFusion. I use it to read on my browser and my iPad or phone. I wish I could see my notes in the highlight section in the iOS version just as I can in the browser version.

LOVE this app, LOVE bookshelves

I love this app so much. I was trying to find a solution that would easily allow me to organize my ebook collection alongside my fanfic collection through Calibre, and was thrilled when I found this app. It worked great on web and was so easy and pleasant to use on mobile.

NOW BOOKSHELVES ARE ON MOBILE!!! Please forgive my all caps, but I’m in love. They work so great! It makes finding stories I want to read soooo much easier and I’m just thrilled. Thanks for fulfilling this promise, this app team!

Everything I need to read

I use BookFusion heavily and have found it reliable and a joy to work with. The tools for adjusting the appearance of the ebook view are fine grained and allow me to create my ideal view for reading. The fact that BookFusion is also cross-platform and has a web app as well is just gravy. Kudos to the developers for building such a useful tool!

Wonderful app!

You can read books on any device, online or on BookFusion . When calibre companion failed to work for me, BookFusion works to send my books to their online library. Store, read and organize your books while using calibre library with this app or just use this on its own.

No interaction with any cloud providers…

…tells me all I need to know. Basically they just want to sell you hard drive space by the month. I added an extra star because it’s so polished, but if you’re reading this, find a better app. I know there aren’t many options for epub readers in BookFusion Store, but this just feels like extortion. Prices are not reasonable. Not even an option to add your own fonts! BookFusion needs a lot of work, and a better revenue model.

Great App!

I'm traveling while going to UNI and this a great app to manage my epub/PDF's. I'm going to keep using it for another week or two and then, if it works well for me, upgrade to the pro membersip. I like to support independent app developers with sustainable business models.

The best ebook service and assortment of apps

Great service and responsive devs in the dedicated discord! Having my books, reading progress, and highlights available everywhere is really a treat. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

Amazing!

BookFusion is amazing! I can read on my phone or pc, in scrolling mode/normal mode, different spacing, text size, font, color backgrounds, it has outlines, etc. It has everything you’d ever want, give it a shot

Makes eBook Organization Easier

I have a ton of ebooks, and right now I’m using a cloud service to try to hold on to them all. But - I have so many reading devices (windows, Mac, iOS, Android, kindle, etc.) that it’s a pain to organize and manage my books. It actually stresses me out a bit because I don’t know what books are on what device.

Enter this app. First off - if you’re a light reader with a smaller (or cycle-able) library, the free version will absolutely meet your needs. If you’re like me and have over 150 ebooks the premium version is worth it. I did the math - early adoption subscription turns out to be $3.33 a month. I will gladly give up a bag of chips and a soda to have a safe place to beautifully organize my books.

Bonus: Book Fusion has a fully functional website. So I can upload books and read them straight out of my library. And the Calibre plugin that will sync my libraries between my computers looks promising. I’m looking forward to trying it.

I’ll update my review with any honest thoughts after I have used this for a while.

What a joke. Can’t even log in : )

The latest iOS update won’t respond when I click the log in button. Not paying for this service til you fix THAT obviously.

Keeps resetting my location in book

For days I had no problems, now all of a sudden everytime I open BookFusion , it loads the book back at page 1. What the hell. Also a critical issue is when rotating your device you lose your spot as well, only not as bad, it goes back two pages, so you just have to quickly swipe and go forward two pages. Really buggy. Wish this was more reliable since it’s honestly the best idea. Cross platform syncing, bookmarks, underlining, upload any PDF or ePub.... yeah BookFusion has HUGE potential. My only complaints are page tracking as outlined above.

Nice little app

I like having my full library open to me at all times and on all devices. This allows me to export my Calibre library to a cloud location by using its Calibre plugin. Once configured, I’m good to go.

And as a side note, the developers are very open to feedback. I made a suggestion on how to improve BookFusion and about a week later, I noticed that they implemented the change. Awesome

Would be great if it wasn't so buggy

Would be great if it wasn't so buggy. Keeps starting my book over, freezes on another book, etc.

If they fixed this issue, and also created a feature where you could organize your books into folders, it would be perfect.

BookFusion (Reading) is FUNdamental.

this app hosts a diverse collection of books, giving access to the works of many Caribbean authors I previously did not know. Very user-friendly. Great to get friends organized with the library feature for book clubs!

Overall great, has some big bugs

I love the library organization and web app. Overall this is one of the best compromises I’ve found between power, ease of use, and price.

I’m having problems with the position being reset though. Another reviewer mentioned this, and I’m experiencing it in the latest version on both iOS and Android. Moving between devices the position won’t sync, but worse is that changing the font, changing the orientation, and sometimes nothing at all will cause it to skip back to the start of the chapter.

The bookmark menu is also buggy, showing random page numbers, and not working after use until it has been exited and entered again. Also, the bookmark indicator in the top right doesn’t indicate whethera bookmark has been set or not.

All of this, and the even more buggy Android version, make me question whether I should be asking for a refund...

Doesn’t support basic iOS functionality

I tried to import an ebook into BookFusion through the sharing extension in Files, which is apparently not supported. Nor is there a way from within BookFusion to browse file providers.

It is hard to trust that an app that hasn’t implemented the standard ways that iOS apps access files. This is like an desktop app not supporting File -> Open.

Awesome app for ppl with a large library

Cross platform syncing. Intuitive interface. Support is responsive.

Installed on all my devices (phones & tablet). Eagerly waiting on desktop app!

By

Not all it promises with hidden cost

Nice user interface. However opening books reveals a reading format that severely lacks the look/feel of other ebook readers. Additionally when having an extensive library of ebooks, when importing more than one hundred and one books, One must subscribe monthly. NOT AS ADVERTISED!

Libraries removed-why?

BookFusion was working pretty well. I did not use it for two or three days and I cannot seem to find Collins Library. I’m seeing there was an update done on the library section but it seems like that update was more of a downgrade.

By

The best

The best reader I have nowadays. Add support of bookshelves in iPad tablets. That is my only request. Keep up the great work.

By

Limited Customization

Very basic reading application. Can’t override font in books nor did I see a way to override the page turn animations.

can’t try without account

Can’t even try BookFusion without setting up an account. And they want you to give them your birthday for some reason.
