Portals of Prayer Reviews

I absolutely love PortalsofPrayer. I read paper versions I received from church, tore out my favorites from those smaller books and piled them up. Nice to have PortalsofPrayer with archives. I found my paper copies, the devotion on PortalsofPrayer , then marked favorite and threw the paper version away. I like having a reader. Living alone nice to hear a voice reading to me❤️

When I opened the old app, there was a prompt to upgrade to new app. So I did. I have iPad 6th generation 13.4. App worked well on first day but on the next day, only the devotions could be viewed. It quits when I selected prayers, favorites, or view by seasons. I didn’t upgrade the old app on my phone, it’s the only portable device that works.
I’ve been exchanging emails with a tech from Concordia Technology Solutions but haven’t heard from her since Apr 7.
I did everything she told me to do but nothing worked.
Maybe a bug?

My opinion is that PortalsofPrayer developers are not savvy in technology or communication. BEWARE WITH FAMILY SHARING.
APP IS SHARED—DEVOTIONAL is NOT shareable. Each user has to have a different subscription on their device for the written contact. I also cannot have PortalsofPrayer on my phone and also open in my iPad.

Even having an individual subscription is a hassle. They charged my account for renewal, but does not show as renewed. Very big issues for an expensive app. I’ve done all troubleshooting steps and still waiting for an answer to a service email.

It's simple but I'd prefer a more soothing voice.

This doesn't seem like it's going to engage anyone under 40 - POP was a staple in our house growing up, but I think PortalsofPrayer is missing something. Perhaps someone with a smile in their voice?

I was very excited to see that CPH had published an app for Portals of Prayer. Upon downloading PortalsofPrayer , I became disappointed that purchasing PortalsofPrayer does not mean you have access to the devotions. Upon opening PortalsofPrayer , there is a prompt to login but that process is not available when purchasing PortalsofPrayer . Long story short, I paid for the Portals of Prayer app and now have to pay for a subscription separately.
Please correct this issue or if you need to subscribe first just say so in the beginning.

I have been using Portals of Prayer for my morning devotions for many years. I recently moved to another state and another church which didn't offer Portals of Prayer, so I was very happy to find Portals of Prayer in the Apple AppStore! PortalsofPrayer works well, is easy to navigate and offers an audio component. I highly recommend it!

Love PortalsofPrayer makes it totally possible to stay in The Word daily!! If you have trouble opening after renewal ***** click on “view our privacy policy” and scroll Through and I was able to reopen!

I renewed my subscription last September. I have not been able to get PortalsofPrayer to work. I can’t even sign-in. This was never a problem in the past. It’s only $10 but to pay and get nothing is ridiculous. I tried to buy directly on the web, which is how I used to receive PoP but after entering everything, they don’t take Amex even though it’s through PayPal.

I love the chance to be able to have my portal of prayers with me everywhere! in the morning I read it like at 4 AM from my phone! Thanks

This is one of only two apps on my phone that I pay something for. So I expect excellence for my dollars! Last year I had made a few days “favorites” so I could go back to them quickly when wanting to edify others. Because of PortalsofPrayer update, I lost them all. I do not have a CPH account, (nor do I want one now) so I can’t contact them except this way. Shame on you, CPH.

I received a receipt showing that I automatically paid for renewal of subscription of app but when getting on app it wanted me to pay again. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it didn’t work. I spoke with someone at CPH and they wanted to talk to someone else and contact me by email from here on out.... and I never heard back from them and the problem was never fixed...

New update seems to work fine! Thank you

So I got a notice that my annual subscription was paid yesterday, but today PortalsofPrayer doesn’t work. It is wanting me to purchase a subscription again. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing.

I downloaded PortalsofPrayer and paid my subscription, but it does not work. I cannot get anything to work.

Still have problems with app. Get a free app Bible Study. Doesn’t renew. Until all bugs are solved don’t bother.

Please help! I have loved PortalsofPrayer but it does not work now. It’s stuck on January 1 and will not update.

I am thrilled that Portals of Prayer is now available as an app. I know some are disappointed by the subscription feature. But this is coming from a small publishing house and provides new content every single day from a variety of writers. This is one of the challenges of balancing digital and analog methods, and I don't begrudge them charging the subscription (just as they would for the print version). Many newspapers still operate this way.

On to my suggestions for the publisher: I would like to see PortalsofPrayer have some of the same features as the PrayNow app, like choices of fonts, calendar pop-up wheel, and especially night mode (causes less eye strain).

Apparently the only way for PortalsofPrayer to work is not to use it. I can’t believe they can’t fix PortalsofPrayer. Do not believe their update notice that fixed the subscription issue. It doesn’t work period. I wrote a previous review which has disappeared. That was over a year ago. They don’t read the reviews so I guess it doesn’t matter. Sad that they don’t discontinue it and give everybody a refund. Should allow negative scores.

Nice to have the books from the last couple years in one place and searchable. App as advertised and for less than $1 per month to get the full subscription. I am glad to support the ministry and have the daily devotions.

Paid the subscription and now all I get on my iPad Pro when I launch PortalsofPrayer is a blank screen. I've tried deleting and redownloading PortalsofPrayer but that failed to remedy the problem.

PortalsofPrayer requires a $9.95 yearly subscription to use. Too bad the ad did not tell me that. *delete*

How sad that this is not available from CPH without a fee. This form of ministry would be far reaching.

Recommend go to CPh.org directly to purchase app. Can establish account and renew from there. Do Not buy through the Apple App Store.
