Clunky & not intuitive

Got the free app on my iPhone because it looked promising. After entering info on my profile, discovered GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening wouldn’t let me make any changes to some settings it created by default. Contacted company and was informed I could not make any changes unless I paid. What the heck? How is that part of a “free” app? But they offered access to the desktop PC version for awhile so I could discover what it could do if I paid for the program. What I discovered was that the desktop version is also difficult to navigate and doesn’t even sync with its phone app counterpart. Good grief. I spent all that time setting up a garden template on my phone — but can’t see any of it on my PC version of the program. Forget this.

Disappointing

I got GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening to plan my garden with. GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening gives you no information about what zone you’re in base on your location. It gives you no information about plants and is of no help in plant identification. For example, I expected to be able to put in my address and have GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening tell me what zone I’m in. No, instead you have to tell it what your zone is. When adding plants, I thought I could type in the common name like “rose” and it would give me the Latin name and the various types/species along with other information about the plant like water and light needs, growth habits, etc. GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening is only good for keeping a garden journal and sharing information with other gardeners. It is not educational in the least.

Pictures not showing up

I like GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening which keeps all my gardening info in one place, but recently when I add photos they are not showing up either in GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening or online. The picture count shows that I have added a picture but nothing appears. I can go into edit mode for the picture but it is just a white screen. Not sure what happened because it was working well before.

So close!!!

A really great concept and I love it but one major problem for me ... the lack of plant database is a deal breaker. I read your notes to other reviewers indicating that’s the point- to enter your own notes but I disagree. As an avid gardener I have easily 200+ plants to add ... the time involved in doing that is outrageous. I should be able to download the basics and then adjust based on my experience / placement / etc. As an example- it would be fantastic to pull in the plant name, scientific name, height, width, ideal environment (sun/shade- acid/alkaline) and then I get actual tips on why a plant may not be prospering where I have it. But then I can customize by adding when planted, fertilized, whether it bloomed each year, etc. Starting from scratch on every detail is crazy.

Not what I wanted

Was hoping for an app where I could keep all my new plants/varieties from my landscaping so I can easily reference who needs what in the fall. GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening is too confusing. Couldn’t figure out what the different choices for lighting for different areas meant….what on earth is shade-half shade?? Plant database doesn’t work…nothing came up for any of the three common plants I searched. Is this another houseplant app? I’m not going to enter them manually, that totally defeats the purpose.

Great way to keep organized

I have been using GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening for a few years now. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
1. I like how I can take notes about each plant, take photos with dates attached to see how things progress, when I planted extra.
2. I can archive plants what have died and look them up later without having them in my current garden.
3. It’s nice being able to search for a plant or plants quickly.
4.The planner is nice to set schedules like sowing or fertilizing.
Cons:
1. I live in a rural area, all the social stuff (Gardenizers & Inspiration tabs) really bog GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening down and it takes forever to load when I’m not by WiFi which is most of the time. I don’t use that stuff anyway so it’s annoying.
2. I wish there was a garden journal section. A place I can just take random notes about anything to reference to when needed. I have to have that on a different app on my phone. I wish I could keep it all in one place.

Awesome

I love GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening! It’s very easy to use and it’s perfect for a beginner gardener to put all the info about a plant right into one place. GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening
is almost perfect. I would love for the creators to add a space for us to put “days to germinate”, “days to bloom/harvest”, “amount of sun needed” among other information that would make the experience much better. Other than that, I also love that fact that is has an inspiration board where articles are shown. I do recommend GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening but I hope that the things I mentioned above get considered.

Could be More Responsive

Great idea with some bugs. NO help or response to several in-app messages to Support and email to Founder.

HOWEVER, I love the data fields and that name, notes, and a few others are free-form so you can enter whatever you like. Photo upload is what I really love.

Would be nice to have Secondary Color field or make Color be free-form like Notes and Name.

I had problems having my photos load on my desktop browser. Eventually figured it out on my own — Google Chrome Settings for the Gardenize website were to NOT SHOW INSECURE DATA (which uploaded photos must be INSECURE DATA). I toggled Chrome Setting to Allow Unsecure on Gardenize and voila my photos showed up.

Disappointing

*Update: Loss of data was due to a glitch with iPhone. It opened a new account with Gardenize when downloading update. Thanks to Jenny for getting my account straightened out. I got all my data back! Started documenting my covid19 garden with GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening back in March. I went though the hassle of entering plant info for multiple locations and updated with pics though out the season. I had the time and thought it would be a good reference. Then in late July GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening locked up and insisted I download the latest version. So I did, LOST ALL OF MY DATA. No warning to export before update (which costs extra) and no ability to do so as GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening was locked. Contacted developers, 2 weeks and no response.

Love it

GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening is set up to log garden plants, but I use it for my houseplants and succulents. I have so many houseplants that I couldn't remember their names and what their minimum temperatures are (because I take them outside in the summer), so after researching a bunch I found GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening and so far I love it. I've put in all of my plants and their basic needs for fertilizer and temperatures, and it has helped save me a lot of time that I wasted relooking things up.

Amazing!

I love GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening a lot! It is nice to have a place to keep all of my plants at. I think likes and comments should be added because I know you can follow people, but, I want to be able to save the things I liked because I would like to grow it. Or you could give people suggestions! (I don’t know if this is in GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening or not, if it is I can’t find it.) Great app! Would recommend! 🤩🤩😍🌱🌱🍀

Best gardening app and great support

I have over 1000 plants and GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening makes it really easy to monitor their health, keep track of planting, harvest dates and all the tasks in between. The interface is very intuitive so it’s really easy to started. And when I did have a question I emailed and got an very quick and helpful response. That’s so rare these days and is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening.

Great app

Love GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening. Now I can organize, journal, set goals, remember things I need to do. There was a limit to how many photos you can put in an entry - but a work around for that is to get out of the entry and than go back in. It will allow more pictures to be added. The only down side to the notes is there seems to be no auto correct. But makes me pay attention to my typing.

Almost perfect

I want to call GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening perfect but I just cannot. There are a couple of bugs I would love to see fixed. Firstly, GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening closes regularly when I am switching between applications. I cannot possibly remember everything I need to enter for one plant, but often GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening closes while in the midst of switching back and forth to find the information I need for a new plant.
Secondly, it is super slow to update between devices. While it closes frequently and then updates and syncs on reopening, I can log out and move to another mobile device but everything I changed has not actually synced on the new device. The restart upon close is super slow. It can take up to 2 minutes sometimes for it to open upon first use.
Is it really necessary to only allow it to open on one device at a time? I often switch between my tablet and my phone, yet everytime I have to do so I am waiting for the spinning ball of death to log me in and sync, even though it is not actually syncing until later.
I have looked at other similar apps and nothing comes close, but these problems are annoying enough after five months of use for me to look elsewhere. No one else is updating and no other app can do what this one offers. I am sticking with it out of sheer need and hope that updates can improve the experience.

Grows on you

A quirky app that assists me tremendously in the struggle of keeping track of all the plant data and pictures. The new upgrade seems to make it operate a bit more efficiently. The photo link to the plant data is fairly seamless. The data export is not easy to execute. This being basically a unique plant database, as a user I would like to be able to easily extract unique data. A quick search function would be a plus.

Great app to catalog your garden

Finally have a way to catalog and update my collection of garden plants and flowers. Love having them all in one place where I can enjoy looking at them any day of the year—no matter the season! GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening tracks each garden area by name also, so you know where each plant is located and all of the plants’ pertinent facts. The only con is that you can only have one photo per plant on the free version.

OMG! This app is amazing! Wish I had it 30 ago!

GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening is so incredibly easy to use. So excited I found it. I have all my plants listed in an Excel spreadsheet and I have over 400 different plants, so I have lots of work to do. The export feature will be useful for when I have open garden tours and want to print plant lists! Would be nice to see a recent app update — I’ve made several suggestions— and bug fixes (app closing when moving between apps to look up plant details.

So Impressed! Freemium plan I haven’t enjoyed before!

We used to buy our apps outright so it was super annoying when subscription models replaced it. I want to support app developers but I also can’t have 50 different $3 a month subscription plans. This way is genius! I got to try GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening out without worrying about having to cancel my scrip and loose my work (and ultimately, deleting GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening altogether). I’m really enjoying GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening and with this model, I don’t have to worry about wasting time on entries. As time goes by, I value GARDENIZEPlantCareGardening more and more and will be happy to pay for credits to export and backup my info. This is the first I have seen of this model and I really likey!!

Excellent plant tracking app

This is NOT a plant identification app. There are lots of great ones out there. This is an app that keeps track of your plants, where you got them, and when important event occur like repotting (or anything you deem as important as its customizable). You can store up to 5 photos per plant. The paid version allows more photos, but the paid version isn’t available in the us right now. The interface is easy to use an navigate. You can enter as little or as much detail as you want, and can go back and edit the data at any time. It’s my favorite plant app, not for beginners who need to know when to water, but a valuable inventory and “proud plant parent” app!

Tried a lot of apps, and was looking for this one all along

Gardenize has all the features I need. I can place plants in areas, track care and maintenance, and use this for shopping, care planning, or landscaping. The database is pretty deep (though I wish it had a few more items), and when it doesn’t have it I can add all details. The social stuff is not for me, but it is fun it is there and hopefully the many people I recommend he app to join!
