This was / is my go to app for checking my BG. All the data I need is right there. Sugarmate has been my faithful companion for the last 18 months or so. BUT a couple of months ago it started crashing, screen locking up ALL THE TIME. I log my insulin dosages in sugarmate rather than the dexcom app, but the operational issues with SugarmateDiabetesTracker now make me consider switching to another platform. I really REALLY was hoping this situation would be resolved with the last update but I didn’t see any improvement even though SugarmateDiabetesTracker was described with the somewhat meaningless action of “bug fixes”. It won’t be long and I’ll try something else, which I really don’t want to do but SugarmateDiabetesTracker is now wasting too much of my time to keep going this way. My two star review is a combination of what SugarmateDiabetesTracker is when it works properly - 5 stars, and what it is in its current state - 2 stars at best.

I was skeptical at first, having the Dexcom app already, thinking the two would be the same. However, after reading other embers of my FB groups having Sugarmate and liking it, I thought I would give it go. I can always delete it later... Not gonna happen! Totally love SugarmateDiabetesTracker. I’m able to track everything I need to in one app. It’s able to connect to everything it needs to get as much info as possible. I am in love with the info tiles on the HOME screen. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because you do have to be slightly technologically intelligent to connect it a Watch or another device. It took me a little bit of time to get it to work, but now that I’ve got it set up, works great. And the readings showing up on my watch face are more consistent than the straight actual Dexcom app. Love it!

SugarmateDiabetesTracker has really gone down hill. It has been crashing more and more. I finally got to the point where I uninstalled and reinstalled SugarmateDiabetesTracker to resolve the issues but SugarmateDiabetesTracker is back to hanging/crashing again after 24 hours. SugarmateDiabetesTracker is totally useless at this point. I would recommend not updating if you haven’t already. I’m running 2.6.9 on iOS 12.4.

Update: I narrowed the crashing and unresponsiveness down to the Apple Health connector. I have a *lot* of data in Apple Health that Sugarmate has to import. I reported the issue to the dev along with a stack dump from SugarmateDiabetesTracker and the issue now seems to be resolved with the v2.6.11 release.

My son was recently diagnosed and my wife and I are tech savvy and have all the Apple devices (computer, tablet, phone and watch). The Dexcom CGM works well but the follow app for parents is archaic with functions and alerts. Sugarmate is amazing that I can add a widget in top of my computer to see my sons BG values with arrow(s) and how many points it changes from the last refresh (5 min). The Apple Watch function is a bit to make it work but easy if you follow the instructions and updates on my watch calendar…adds the new value and deletes the old one. Interesting method but works well since the follow app for the watch is terrible.

Thank you for SugarmateDiabetesTracker. It is literally a life saver. The Apple Watch integration is elegant and simple. There’s no annoying load time like on the Dexcom app. The emergency calls at night for lows are also amazing. I do wish there was an option for an emergency high call as well, for example after pizza night when blood sugars might spike way later. Dexcom technology is amazing - but the Sugarmate app is our go-to for our day to day management and visibility of blood sugar data. We were hobbled by the system update but now we’re so grateful it’s back up and running. Thank you!!!

My mother is 74 and totally blind for 44 years. She’s been a diabetic for 5 years now and insulin dependent. She’s now been on Dexcom for the past 4 months now. Finding out about Sugarmate that links to Alexa and Dexcom is the most amazing thing for our family. My mom no longer has to wait for someone to come home to ask where here sugar levels are at nor does she have to call any of her daughters to ask she can ask Alexa right there on the spot and know. A little more independence for her Yay!!!! Thank you for making it easier on the elderly and the blind. She appreciates it and so does her family

Update: the developer got with me and with a few troubleshooting steps I completely overlooked SugarmateDiabetesTracker is functioning as it should. It was a malfunction on my call screening services side. I’m back to getting low calls and am loving SugarmateDiabetesTracker . I am so thankful not only for SugarmateDiabetesTracker but for the developers that they read the reviews a d offer to help when users have issues. Can’t recommend enough!!!! SugarmateDiabetesTracker over all is very good, but within the last two weeks it has started going straight to voicemail when calling to alert me of my lows. This entirely defeats the point of why I have SugarmateDiabetesTracker. All other calls come through with no problems, no do not disturb or silent features are turned on. I’ve even added this number as a favorite and deleted and downloaded SugarmateDiabetesTracker again. Hopefully they update SugarmateDiabetesTracker and it gets fixed as I experience lows regularly and really need this feature to work.

SugarmateDiabetesTracker is a must for any G5 or G6 user. Our 6yr old has T1D and I can’t express how thankful I am for SugarmateDiabetesTracker and its ability to call and text alerts when she goes low. Even if my phone is on silent I am able to get the alerts. You can do this by creating a contact for sugarmate, then go to your contacts and edit the specific ringtone of that sugarmate contact. When you do that, the very top option says “emergency bypass”. Make sure that is on and you are all set. I’m truly thankful to the developers. SugarmateDiabetesTracker has significantly changed my daughters quality of life and given us a vital tool in our fight against T1D.

This is a great app. I love that I can copy recent food items. I wish that there were a search function for items I’ve entered. I love that I can easily see how food affected my blood sugar. How did this meal I’m about to eat affect me last time I ate it? I wish there was a report I could easily print for my doctor. I wish that SugarmateDiabetesTracker showed two hours later for Boluses that don’t have a food entry. Customer service is amazingly quick to respond to questions.

Please keep it up Sugarmate! This is a great app and I hope to see some of the items I want on a future release!

My account was looked into and an issue was there that was quickly resolved. Thank you for the help! SugarmateDiabetesTracker is better than the provided app from Dexcom. Makes it easy for me to see my daughter’s blood sugars on my Apple Watch despite the actual Dexcom app being on her personal cell phone. Worth the download. I encourage everyone who has a Dexcom themselves or a loved one with Dexcom to try sugarmate.

Our daughter was diagnosed at 18 months. We didn’t initially know about the Sugarmate app, but a few months in I discovered SugarmateDiabetesTracker and it’s been a game changer. I love that it doesn’t wait until my daughter’s blood sugar has been low for 15 minutes or more before notifying me. Love, love, love the call feature. Drops during the night or while I’m away at work trigger a phone call directly to my phone, even if it’s on Do Not Disturb, and we are able to get up to treat her low or text her caregiver with instructions. SugarmateDiabetesTracker is FAR more superior than the Dexcom app. I wouldn’t think twice about paying for it if there was a fee — it’s just that good.

We have used Sugarmate for several years now for our child. We have several devices and apps that we use to manage his blood sugar. (Omnipod, Dexcom, Loop, NightScout, Dexcom clarity, Dexcom follow + many more we’ve tried) and I always end up referring back to sugarmate. I like the interface, I like the flexibility, I like the ease. We use it on our watches, in our cars on via Apple CarPlay. We use the alarms and the urgent low phone call is amazing. I think SugarmateDiabetesTracker would also be extremely beneficial to someone who is using injections instead of pumping, because you can easily track injections, carbs, activity, anything at all. SO customizable. You can even search nutrition info. The responsive of the developer on several occasions (haven’t had app problems in quite a while) was terrific as well. He helped us troubleshoot in a very timely and personal manner. CANNOT give enough stars or say enough nice things to describe sugarmate. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have two kids with t1d and SugarmateDiabetesTracker has been a lifesaver. I love so many things about it they are too many to list. Sugarmate fills in the gaps that the Dexcom app lacks. And maybe the best thing about it is their customer service. I had a few issues (mostly operator error) trying to follow both kids at one time and Josh was immensely helpful...to the point of me sending him the following message: “I’m sure you hear this all the time, but I really appreciate how available and helpful you are. Your responses are always so fast and easy to follow. Managing this disease is frustrating enough, it really helps that you are so quick and accessible. SugarmateDiabetesTracker is awesome!!!”
Everyone using Dexcom should be using SugarmateDiabetesTracker!

My wife was recently diagnosed this year with late-onset Type 1 diabetes, so all of this was new to us. Her insurance paid for a CGM and an insulin pump, which was a huge help and a great relief from the 8-12 finger sticks and the 4-5 injections per day. After getting those, the only complaint I had was not being able to track and monitor her current and past history very well. While the CGM manufactures app was okay, it left a lot to be desired. Then all that changed when I was checking SugarmateDiabetesTracker Store for something better and found Sugarmate. I absolutely love SugarmateDiabetesTracker and all the information that is available at a glance. I would highly recommend SugarmateDiabetesTracker to anyone who is monitoring a loved one’s, or their own, BS readings.

Dear Sugarmate:
I humbly thank you for providing me with extra tools that work with my CGM to help me effectively manage my T1 diabetes. When we didn’t have SM for a few months, it was like the stars went out. I am grateful for those who work hard at developing this life-saving, life-altering app, and don’t charge for it when you could. There are so few selfless people in the world who do good solely to benefit others.

No other diabetes app empowers me on a daily basis to manage, track, and attend to my disease. When I didn’t use it for a while, I got lazy about my disease and suffered as a result. And then there was the hiatus, and today I discovered that SugarmateDiabetesTracker is back online and I’m so grateful.

After having a lot of success with Sugarmate showing up on my Apple Watch, it is no longer there. I have tried all the suggestions under support and nothing has worked. In the past, I have been able to turn toggle fetch new data off and then turn it on again but that is no longer working. Help! Is there a way for me to contact you directly? Email or phone call? I need for this to be working on my Apple Watch. Thank you. I’ll update the rating once I get this fixed.

Update - I was able to contact the developer and he fixed my issue in a flash. Sugarmate has the best tech assistance of any other app or program that I know of. Outstanding!

EDIT: I am editing my old review because not only did SugarmateDiabetesTracker developer fix any frustrations I had, he made other improvements I didn't even realize I wanted! He was open to what I had to say and reached out to me to ask. This is the most used app on my phone and THE way we manage diabetes in my house. 5 Stars all the way.

Love SugarmateDiabetesTracker. I use it for my 8 year old T1 and it has replaced our log book. It has every feature I was looking for in the Dexcom app. The only frustrating part of SugarmateDiabetesTracker that I would love to see resolved is how you enter the carb number when entering food. The slider eliminates some of the numbers (like 15 which is our most used number.) It would be helpful to be able to just type in the number. Thank you for making a difficult and all consuming disease a little bit easier!

If you use the dexcom app and are debating trying Sugarmate, just look at all these 5 star reviews and do it! Sugarmate is seriously one of the best tools in our diabetes arsenal. It is feature rich, easy and intuitive to use, FREE, has responsive customer service... I could go on and on.
One particular feature that I find especially useful is that as a follower of a dexcom wearer, I can run my finger on the timeline and see the individual blood sugars. In comparison, the dexcom app only allows the original downloader do that and they can only do it when the phone (on iPhone at least) is held in portrait mode. Oh! And they are limited to 24 hours.
We are using the CGM to try and employ Sugar Surfing techniques rather than just passively noting the blood sugar. Sugarmate allows us to better respond to and manage my daughter’s bg. I am seriously so thankful for SugarmateDiabetesTracker. Thank you!

This is my first review of ANY tool or software for the iPhone. I am 1 month new to the Dexcom G5 and am sick of the Dexcom support team or lack there of (too many UNDESIRED FEATURES in Dexcom tools and phone only based tech support)! This free tool fills almost every hole left by Dexcom. The only bad comment I can make is it doesn’t use your old Health data so you have to use the tool so long term stats make sense. The free tool has easy to use food (carbs!) look-up that has really helped me level out my undulations....

Heck even the prediction prevented me from spiking low a couple times now (totally missed by Dexcom!)....

This tool is a must **companion tool** for anyone with a Dexcom G5!!! I more often read it instead of the Dexcom app. It is not a HACKER tool to get more battery life or sensor use, but a tool that will help you better use the Dexcom CGM data and help you control your diabetes better than before....

SugarmateDiabetesTracker is super awesome!!!! Such a step up from the Dexcom Share app. Like windows 3.1 vs. Windows 10. Right when I installed it I was in love with it. Of course it’s not perfect, sometimes you have to restart it to get your graph to look right but it’s awfully close!! The calculations and the information is so thorough. My daughter is two years old and has type one diabetes. SugarmateDiabetesTracker really helps us keep track of what she’s eating and the effect and let’s see the trends and reports that we would only be able to get by logging into the Dexcom website, which we would have to wait a 3 hours for the live view. I am really excited that we found SugarmateDiabetesTracker!!! I would pay monthly for SugarmateDiabetesTracker. Real game changer!!! Thanks RTDM.

I just started on the Dexcom G6 and SugarmateDiabetesTracker should be a required download for all users. It provides a much more aesthetically intuitive overview of your trends (compared to the Dexcom app and receiver, though I’m grateful for those when I’m just checking in), along with valuable data analysis. The predictive low push notifications have already saved me from several crashes and the A1C predictor gives you a nice sense of the bigger picture. Really well thought out and extremely helpful to managing T1D - 15 years in, I’m suddenly learning new insights about my body and behaviors. Huge thanks to the creators.

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without SugarmateDiabetesTracker! All three of my T1 kiddos run it on their phones and I use it to track the last one still at home. It’s an ideal app to set real goals for improved blood sugar control that can then be measured and observed in real time. The iWatch bg display makes tracking bgs throughout the day as easy as the flick of your wrist. But, honestly, the feature I would never do without is the low alert phone call. I’ve become quite deaf to the Dex alerts from following the 3 kids and another family member, but the phone call always wakes me up.
