Awful

The first week we received our order they forgot to put any ice packs in it and they were warm. We tried to call them and their number just redirects you to email them. We emailed them and got no answer. The next day they charged us for another week. I went online 10 minutes after we received their second charge and was able to chat with Federico Castillo, who absolutely refused to do anything about it. He was so rude and made it very clear that they intentionally ignored me to charge another week. He even went as far to saying they don’t have a phone number (it’s on the bottom of their email!) and threatened to fight it if I tried to stop it at my bank. The order didn’t ship out for another 4 days! So they could have stopped it, but they didn’t!! The food we got that week was garbage, the chicken was thick, plain and tasteless. We’ve always loved places like Freshly and HelloFresh but this was distrusting. It’s clear why they make it nearly impossible to cancel, because their food it gross! Thanks Frederick for the terrible service and food!

Worst app experience since apps began

There is no navigation. One has to scroll through pages of options. can't search by ingredient, can't remove ingredients (maybe the chefs don't want that -- which I can accept if that were stated). Once you move to the order and payment screens, there is no way back. It gave me no option me to place an order when i wanted to make a change to the delivery date. I literally wanted to spend money and try it and could not. Once I clicked on the logo, it took me back to the home page, logged me out and triggered a video series that won't shut off even if you x out or pause. and the "help" option? can't seem to read natural language. Doesn't tell you it has no answer, closing out a query is confusing; automatically putting me into an "email customer support" is weird. terrible.

No food delivery + no customer support = no good

When it’s good, it’s good. When it’s bad, Cook Unity is terrible. I’ve been using this service for months without any issues until this week when I had placed a larger than usual order bc it’s the start of summer break. I hate when there is no phone number to call and speak to someone and instead I have to spend an hour on CookUnity ’s chat (ask me for the screenshots). So while Giro is communicating with the team in charge of screwing up my order, he’s not telling me what solution or compensation CU can provide. Instead, I’m informed after the fact that my family won’t be receiving any meals this week, the team can’t even offer a delivery on a later date, but that my money is being credited for future orders. This defeats the entire purpose of having a meal service! 1) Food waste due to wherever my order ended up 2) Time wasted on an unsatisfactory resolution 3) Added stress to the customer who now has to scramble to meal plan
Again - When it’s good, it’s good. When it’s bad, Cook Unity is terrible

Terrible service

My experience with this app has been nothing short of disappointing. I thought I had canceled my subscription, only to be charged for a box that arrived while I was out of town. This unplanned delivery sat on my porch for days, and by the time I returned, the meals were completely spoiled and unusable.

When I contacted this app, I expected basic customer service and a reasonable refund, given that this delivery was unintended and entirely wasted. Instead, I was met with rigid responses, an unwillingness to truly address the problem, and a refusal to offer a refund. this app’s focus on hiding behind policy rather than valuing their customers is incredibly frustrating and shows a complete lack of flexibility or empathy.

If you’re considering using this app, just know that if anything goes wrong, they’re more committed to upholding strict policies than ensuring you’re actually satisfied with their service. I’m left feeling like my business and experience mean nothing to them, and I won’t be recommending this company to anyone.

Shady Billing Practices & Terrible Customer Service

I ordered from this app through an Instagram ad, thinking I was getting a good deal—8 meals for $62, which came out to about $6 per meal. I paid and waited. A week later, I found out they hadn’t actually charged me at the time of purchase. Instead, they processed the payment 5–6 days later, by which point the money wasn’t in my account, so the charge was declined. Naturally, I didn’t receive the meals.

Then, out of nowhere, I checked my bank account a week later and saw they charged me $113—almost double the original amount! When I contacted customer service, they told me the first charge was a promotional price, and the $113 was the “regular” price. But I never even got the promotional price because their delayed charge caused the payment to be declined in the first place!

To make matters worse, they didn’t let me pick my meals this time. The meals I originally selected weren’t being sent, and customer service was useless. When I tried to cancel my subscription, the cancel button doesn’t work—it’s like they purposely make it impossible to cancel.

I strongly warn against giving this company your credit card information. You won’t know when they’ll charge you, how much they’ll charge, or if you’ll even get what you ordered. And if you want to cancel? Good luck—the cancel button is fake. Stay far away.

Food Poisoning

After quitting this app I decided to try it again due to being really busy and not having time to prepare meals while moving. Sunday the tracker for OnFleet delivery was not working, so I was unable to properly track my package. My package, which was a very thin, poorly insulated bag with ONE ice pack, was left in the heated hallway in the back of my building where we do not receive packages; I don’t even know how they left the package there. All the food was partially dethawed. For more context, I was in touch with customer service numerous times trying to figure out when my food would arrive due to the tracker being broken and living in an apartment building where I have to plan when I go out to get my deliveries. Over the summer, on a couple occasions, when food arrived dethawed, I was told to immediately throw out and was given credits, but this time they ignored me and left me with food poisoning. Do not trust this company with your health.

Update: SCAM | Charged for contaminated (vomit covered) food

They dropped off my meals in front of my building in an unsecured location and someone vomited in the delivery bag. CU refused to provide a refund. I provided photos but they wanted me to dig through the vomit and send additional photos of each meal. They were very rude and unprofessional.

Update: I shouldn’t have given them a second chance, but I did and they failed me. I was provided with a coupon to retry their service, so I went against my better judgement and did. ON THE DAY they were suppose to deliver, AND AFTER I got confirmation they were on their way to deliver, they canceled without explanation. I spent over an hour trying to understand, to which they explained it was a “system integration issue”. Essentially they didn’t register my order even though I gave them almost a week to do so and received several confirmation emails.

Save yourself the headache and don’t use this app.

Needs serious improvement

This review is purely based on CookUnity experience. I am satisifed with the food.

Pros:

I like the ability to have separate profiles for family members with own dietary preferences/restrictions
Like being able to heart favorite foods and save chefs.
Cons:

Not the most user friendly. Navigation is glitchy and when clearing a cart to add new meals, they still show as selected in the menu causing great confusion.
I hate hate HATE that they prefill your cart for you near the deadline!!! They claim it’s based off your choices but we frequently get dishes that have things I’m allergic to! Despite preferences stating foods to avoid!
I hate hate HATE that you can’t just clear a cart and save an empty cart after they’ve prefilled it!! We’ve been adding 1 dish of 6 after one if us picks our meals for the week since we aren’t able to pick at the same time and it won’t let you save an empty cart. Ridiculous!
That “what’s new” collection that’s supposedly “updated weekly” isn’t actually updated weekly. I’ve seen the same things over and over despite seeing new dishes in the general menu. It’s useless.
Other Suggestions:

Since there are separate profiles, I wish the “what you’ve tried” tab could be assigned to each profile so we remember who got what.
Overall, I’ve seen better interfaces. App is clunky visually and mechanically. They need to do better with CookUnity .

Food awesome! App not awesome!

Solely reviewing CookUnity usage. Not to be confused with the food - the food is excellent. And the photographs are perfect!But-For reasons that are to hard explain CookUnity is confusing. Fortunately, It’s improved a lot in the last year- but still leaves a desire for clarity in ordering and navigating the choices.
First thing- I’d like is to have my homepage literally look like a monthly wall calendar. I want to see my entire month at a glance. Then-On my selected delivery date square of the calendar -I’d like to see my order status of 3 possibilities: 1. Order complete 2. Order not complete 3. Skipped
On that same square the quantity of meals I have ordered. —When I open my square on the calendar- I’d like to see a breakdown- how many beef? How many chix? How many veg? Etc. are in that dates order. I have more thoughts….lol but if you read my review this far… then thank you 😁

Love the food, hate the app

We’ve been using this app for the past few months and love it. It’s made it so easy for us to meet our nutrition goals and thoroughly enjoy our meals. CookUnity is easily the worst. There are hundreds of meals to go through on the phone app and there is no grid option - you’re just scrolling down one long column. I wish we could filter out actual calorie ranges rather than just a general low calorie option. It also crashed quite frequently which makes it very challenging to make selections. I wish that we can click into the details of the dish after making selections and looking at all the things in my order. We have to go through the chef to the meal or go back to the main menu. I hope there are improvements coming.

Great UI but doesn’t confirm orders and has double charged me twice

The UX UI of CookUnity is pretty great. The issue is, every time you submit you’re order the edit button remains active/clickable and doesn’t actually confirm your order and you get a text from customer service saying “you need to confirm your order”. This isn’t the case on the desktop site. Also, if you don’t finish your order on the desktop site and go to CookUnity to finish editing the order, it erases everything from your cart. Sometimes when you change the delivery date, CookUnity creates a new / separate random order, like back to back days. If you don’t catch it you’ll have double orders and like 24 meals headed your way. Every time I try to communicate this to customer service they act like it’s a user error. It’s not, something’s up with the back end of your site/app. It doesn’t happen often but it doesn’t happen. Overall, a good app, but i will continue to use the desktop version.

Love the service, hate the app

Cook unity is the only meal service I’ve ever stuck with for longer than a few months. The food is so good and already made and there’s a truly mind-blowing variety to pick from. HOWEVER CookUnity is kind of a mess. For some reason meals appear on the desktop that don’t in CookUnity , when I click certain meals to see nutrition info it just spins and never opens, and weirdly if I’m listening to anything CookUnity repeatedly shuts it off no matter how many times I press play again. It also frustrates me how hard it is to find the $ total for that week’s order, which you’d think would be in certain obvious places but isn’t. I really try not to use CookUnity and just the website but it doesn’t always work out that I can avoid it.

Frustrating App

CookUnity is buggy enough to be frustrating. Please fix it. Trying to updat meal delivery days or preferences is nearly impossible because I’m met with an error window. You should make it easier to view number of available meals depending on what delivery day is chosen. Having to change account settings then bride, then switch dates to see another menu is not intuitive. What’s most frustrating is that if you try to use a regular browser rather than CookUnity you will be redirected to CookUnity . If CookUnity has so many bugs, at least keep the browser version of the site uncomplicated so we can still use the service. In general, the concept of this service has been good and the food is usually good. But CookUnity is really clouding hints because it’s the main way to do anything related to the service.

Better, But Also Worse

Added a couple stars back since we can now opt for the grid view and not horizontal (thank you). Still, more annoying changes than constructive, in my opinion:

1) The new packaging gets rid of the lids and instead uses a film. This is so incredibly annoying. While I appreciate the environmental impact, there are two big problems with this: Once you open the film, you can’t seal it again for transport to/from work or easy stacking. Second, the film is often already open when the meals arrive because of the weight from stacking them! I used to order extra meals and divide up the carbs in a pasta dish among the other meals, then re-cover them. Not any more.

2) Already missing the ability to edit orders before noon, or even the day before. I get same-day May be tough to plan, but please shorten the cutoff to at least the day before.

Amazing food some issues with the app

This service has the best food of all similar services that you can sign up for. They are very consistent and their meal selection is broad. I’ve never had a bad meal from them. Their customer service is also great. My only gripe and the reason why I can’t give it five stars is that they have a feature that lets you sort the meals by ingredients you’d like to exclude and add that to your profile so that they don’t ship you meals with ingredients that you are allergic to or that you don’t want. The sorting works fine if you are adding meals manually to your order but as far as I can tell this feature does not work consistently if you have it auto select meals. On a few occasions I’ve been shipped meals from their service that have an ingredient in them that I wanted to avoid even though I had that ingredient excluded in my profile. So, if you are someone like me, you have to go in every week and read all the ingredients and add the meals manually.

Good food, app is buggy

Echoing the sentiments of many other reviewers: the food is mostly good, CookUnity needs improvement. Issues range from annoying (no search function, selections frequently get cleared out and have to be redone) to totally unacceptable. For instance, CookUnity showed that my delivery for a week was skipped, then a few days later I was charged for the week and 12 meals were scheduled for delivery to my home while I’m out of state. I contacted customer service the day before delivery and they did not help at all (other than a 30% off coupon for next order - how does that help me? This was not my error.)
I’ve been using the service for several months now at 12 meals per week, so about $600 per month. The customer service didn’t live up to the high cost of this service.
**UPDATE** customer service rectified the issue after a lot of requests from me. It was a headache, but they came through enough to retain me as a customer.

Love the food and the App!

I’ve been a customer for a while and this app has become almost a weekly habit for us at this point. The food is the best at-home service out there, which I’d expect with real chefs creating the recipes. We mostly use CookUnity as it’s the most convenient, but also use the site if we are casually browsing the menu together. CookUnity used to crash and give errors at times so we’d have to use the site more, but it’s been better lately which I’m happy about because CookUnity is easier when on the move. We do try to always pick meals ourselves because the few times we missed the deadline we get the same food. If I could give feedback it would be the menu is large which is why we love this app, but we like to try new things and it takes time to browse everything each week. I wish there were more personally curated parts of the menu based on what I select in my eating preferences and what I like. But overall CookUnity is fun and easy and we wanted to say thank you to this app, it’s made our eating lives easier and we love supporting new chefs. Are there ever events at restaurants with the chefs in person?

Highly Recommend!

I started this meal delivery in January 2025. I absolutely love it and would recommend to all! My favorite things are: the quality, variety (I haven’t gotten sick of it yet bc they have so many options!!!), and affordability (comparing to other meal delivery price points). My diet is somewhat restricted in sensitivities to dairy and gluten, but not true allergies, so I can dabble and enjoy so many options in this service. They have the greatest variety I have seen in any service I’ve tried and a lot of healthy options outside and inside of a variety of dietary needs and culinary desires. It’s super fun to compare with my friend in NY (I’m in SF Bay Area), and we don’t have a ton of menu overlap, so we can’t really recommend to each other, though we try, but we can both agree we love all the options! If you’re on the fence, take the leap. You won’t regret giving it a try!

Quality meal delivery service with a very intuitive app

Loving my this app experience so far. Using this service has simplified my work week as I’m able to get great tasting meals that meet my dietary needs while saving time and effort. I’ve tried other meal delivery services and you can tell that this app meals are made fresh and with a high quality bar in mind. CookUnity is easy to use and offers great recommendations based on my usage. One area I’d like to see them explore is adding a filter based on calorie needs, as sometimes I like to search for new meals that fall within my diet but also align with my caloric goals.

Amazing Food!

I order 8 meals a week from cook unity. I love this place so much. The food is always in excellent condition and great tasting quality. So many options to choose from eat week so you are never getting tired of the same meals. Been eating from cook unity for over 6 months now and I will continue to do so for many more months to come! You will be so happy with your choice to start eating from cook unity. The time saving alone on not having to cook food is worth it. Much cheaper than going out to eat as well and you don’t have to sacrifice restaurant quality either. 10/10.
