This game is a really fun time sink. It’s got a cool aesthetic (turtle tank FTW!) and a lot of customizable options that make each play-through different and enjoyable. The pay to win aspect is largely muted, and the liberal amount of resources provided means that, given enough time, you will make progress, even without spending real money.

However, it is possible to break the game by spamming deaths within the first five levels and maximizing mineral orb upgrades. The lack of a respawn time allows you to obtain a potentially infinite amount of money in a brief period of time before stomping your way through the rest of the levels. I don’t think this was intentional, but as it allows casuals like myself to substitute time for money, I think it adds to the game’s appeal.

DEVELOPERS TAKE NOTE. If the game crashes or is closed after a transaction is made, but before decisions (such as choosing perks) are made, the player will lose both the perks and the money. Please fix this.

So I️ started playing this game about 2 weeks ago. Love it , but it’s so simple you really don’t have to play. Just log on get your coins , kill an easy boss and go on w your life. Word of advice , you don’t need to go to another generation , yea they unlock other recruits but how easy do you want the game ? Lol. I’m on generation 14 then realized you don’t need to keep going onto the next. Just wherever you’re comfortable to advance past the levels. I️ have the medic hero, the orb hero, and the very first hero you get. I️ bank in this game , just log on to get my perks and some coins and leave that ish on auto play . I’m currently on lvl 114 yes not much but I’m not going to go onto another generation and start from 0 again. Going to see how far I️ can go. GOOD LUCK H O E S

REVOLUTIONARY. PROFESSIONALLY CRAFTED. DYNAMIC. CHANGED THE META. These are just the few things you can say when discussing this "War Tortoise". This is what games were meant to be. This is how mobile gaming should be modeled. For generations to come, we will see advances in technology, deep storytelling with heart and soul, and engines that revolutionize the genre, and it will all be due to "War Tortoise". Whether i'm mowing down Skinks, Iguanas, Bomber Beetles, Frogs or Fireflys, I know I'm safe with my brave war tortoise to guide me, always under me to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. This game should NOT be free. It should be envisioned, studied and loved for decades to come. "War Tortoise" has unexpectedly changed and elevated my life. 5/5 Any day of the week. Beauty at it's finest.

This game is amazing and fun i love playing it the only problem is you only start getting more money further in the game and this cause problems when you cant afford the upgrades to go further. But in most cases this is fine, but one thing that really bugs me is the damage that you regularly do. Most of my supports do 10x more damage then i do. I have used up so much money and have recently reached about 900 but it cost so much to go any further. My advice may be to reduce the cost a little bit or increase the damage you earn from these upgrades. In any other case this game is really fun and great.

Alright, I must admit, this is a great game. Great graphics, amazing gameplay, a little simply mind you, but good all round game. But I'd really like to know what some things are. For exactly, what exactly does the Satellite Tower do for you? All the upgrades show is "Target" and "Damage". What does this do? If there is some way for you to update the game where it gives a brief description of each unit and their abilities. Would be great. Also, why aren't there many boss battles? Is there a specification that you must reach to activate a boss battle. It would be a great help if we had more boss battles. Thank you.

This game is so amazing! It is really fun to play, the more I play the more I want to continue leveling up and playing more rounds! This game needs a STORY MODE!! It would be the best thing ever! And if you added a multiplayer version too that would also be really cool, In the story mode there needs to be some sort of cool background sort of like " two rivals are at war" or maybe like a Call Of Duty story mode sort of thing! That's would be really sweet. So, this game is super good. Graphics are insane even on low. You can earn everything you need no in app purchases required! Which is rare! But I have a huge suggestion that would put this game on the top 50 AT LEAST! This game really needs a story mode! If you add some kinda insane call of duty type storyline to this, it would skyrocket! I noticed that on world 3 there's some overgrown and fallen skyscrapers in the background, so there's some storyline right there? I know if there was levels and a story and you could drive your tortoise, this would be one of the top. Apps. Ever. Period. End of story.

I'd like to see who would win if this tortoise raced a hare. On your mark get set - BOOM - tortoise wins. It's been fun turning Mr. Turtle into a war machine. After spending the equivalent of the entire US defense budget on my little animal army; I still have plenty more to upgrade. I'm on level 464 now and still having fun. It's a well designed game that's perfect for a casual gamer who wants to play for a few minutes here and there. The graphics are superb as are the sound effects. The in app purchases are not necessary to have fun. I do recommend you get the upgrade that skips the in game ads.

Among the perks found in other reviews (graphics, nonsensical gaming focus, etc.) my *absolute* favorite part is you have the ability to completely remove all pop-ups and video ads in the game WITHOUT having to spend a dime. It took me a couple of days to get the perk (I spent my first upgrade points on something else) but now I never need to worry about stupid pop-ups when I need to add a permanent perk or just take a break. It is so nice, and I've been waiting for a game like this for a long while!

The Max Level is 600. I am almost there.

My advice to everyone is make sure you upgrade to double damage and double money as soon as you can. Also ensure that you get your free perk every six hours. DON'T miss a perk (set ur alarm to wake up in middle of the night to pick up ur perk.)

Use auto battle and 4X to advance quickly. This game has taken weeks, MONTHS and Years from my life that I cannot bring back but I don't regret a single minute. I am currently on level 582!!!!!!!! (& still going strong) and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I have almost 7,500 MILLION dollars (7.5 BILLION) and OVER 2,500 red points. Please keep the updates coming! We need NEW defenses/weapons AND 6X speed.

There are enough good reviews about the game itself. I’ll focus on the ads. The ads are noticeable but not annoying. Ads pop up only when you leave open the game so you’ll have to see them but they are not the sort that annoying pop up every level. It’s also not P2W pay to win since you can earn coins by defeating bosses or reaching higher levels. You’ll get 4 coins for defeating daily bosses.

I’d support the developer by buying the ad removal though. Good job Devs.

I love these game were you have to upgrade in order to move on, I’ve never really had good experience on the phone with these games, I never really liked pay to play games, but this game tops them all on my list of phone games, you don’t have to pay to play I don’t like waiting in between deaths, but its ok it makes it more challenging and drives you to get a better and better army, games are not fun if they are too easy and this game is the perfect equivalence.

I’ve only been playing this game for 1 day and I’ve already spent 15 dollars. The gameplay is awesome and I love the the way the game was designed. You can do things like those clicker gamers in, having you do all the damage and have units to back you up or have the units do all the damage and have you support them, or both of those. In short awesome gameplay, great design, five star (Forsaken Media keep up the good work!).

I've played this through before and loved it both times. Not over yet but have almost all stats maxed and just mowing through the baddies now. Auto play with current set up kinda getting oring now. Only motivation is to see how far this game will let me get. On level 560 now and waiting to see if there's any thing new as the rounds keep going. Bosses are nothing. I can't even get a shot off before they're mowed down by my guys. Update with new levels or bosses!
P.S. Haven't spent a single dime since day one

Lost interest in this game after the second time the game crashed/froze after watching ads causing me to loose premium currency. Granted these were rewards from completing missions but I don’t see putting money into or even playing a game when ads crash the game and you loose what you have earned. Game has an interesting concept, unique really. But considering you need premium currency to progress, and you can loose it simply due to ads makes the game not worth playing. Save yourself the aggravation and find another game.

DL this game years ago, lost my progress when my phone’s internal drive failed and I didn’t have a backup.
Anyway, started playing it again from scratch, still good enjoyable gameplay, but now no “video” will load for any login or other bonuses. That will greatly impact ability to progress and unlock heroes and other upgrades.
Still fun to play, especially during this quarantine.

So why not 5 stars? There are a few issues: first during 4x gameplay there is severe lagging even on low graphics mode on an iPhone 7s plus. Second it constantly switches to auto battle mode. Third the perks don’t seem to be accurate because I have about 684% added to health for my war tortoise but it doesn’t reflect that. And finally there should be an on/off toggle for hero abilities because it’s hard to tell when their abilities are ready especially during 2x/4x mode.

This game is fantastic to say the least. The fact that you're able to get everything by actually playing a game brings fond memories of games being this pure other world experience. The only draw back is that my phone (iphone 6s)isn't able to process the game very well. It would be better suited for a full blown computer. Nonetheless this game deserves 5 stars.
Maybe consider adding a story mode?

Only a select few games like this & sadly they seem to be going extinct. I’m hoping this one will stay updated as long as possible as time goes on. This game is so much fun & I’ve been playing it for a couple years now. The only game that is a for sure to stay in my game collection, seems very underrated even with 4.8 stars! Hey Foursaken, been a big fan of your games and the worlds you make. War Tortoise is definitely one of your best, and I played it a lot when it came out. I’m having crashing problems right now. If I try to watch an ad, it freezes and then crashes. Now I can’t open the game without it crashing. The game itself is easily five star, but that doesn’t mean much if the game is unplayable. Please fix soon, and keep up the good work.
