Mend for everyone?

I was pretty disappointed when I found what mend had to offer. Forget the almost immediate paywall. This is the world we live in now, I guess. I selected infidelity as the reason for my breakup because that was the closest to a breech of trust. But I was the one who broke the trust. The fact that this app didn’t even account for that possibility let me to wonder if I was even worth it. I’m still struggling, and I thought the stories from others might help. I know from the App Store that the creator is female. I know I’m not entitled to every app catering to me, but the story I read quoted the creator saying how she knew this experience is universal. I have emotions, and I can be haunted by past with the best of them. I’m not a breakup scientist, so maybe there is something significantly different among how genders react to the end of a relationship. I was hoping this app would be there to help me through that, but it seemed mostly geared to people more or less like the creator. Not surprising, but still disappointing. Good thing I have a backup of crying and dancing to songs we listened to in the middle of the night 2 years later.

Waste of (a lot of) money

I wanted to like this app, and some people actually recommended it to me. However, it is SO EXPENSIVE, and I felt like the sessions got worse and more generic AFTER I spent the money. It also isn’t clear up front that the first seven days are free. I thought I had to make a decision after the first training, and I was in such a bad place that I just signed up and spent the money. I feel like this app preys on people going through a hard time, and once you spend the money, no one cares about actually helping you deal with what you’re going through. There’s also no way to get a refund. I tried to push through since I spent $110, but the last few “sessions” have been generic and entirely not applicable to my situation in any way. It’s basically a bunch of 3-5 minute podcasts that I feel like you could find for much cheaper anywhere, and the rest of the content isn’t any better than what you could find on elite daily or the Odyssey. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Really disappointed

This app was recommended to me during a session I had with a counselor on a text hotline. I really am struggling and I was hopeful for this app. You take a lil questionnaire explaining your situation so the app can accommodate to yours. So far so good. As soon as I got that done I had to rate my mood for that day, listen to maybe a 5 min recording, and journal how I felt and what I wanted to accomplish in the app. First day done, nice. Now, after the first day you have to subscribe for the recordings which I find really upsetting. Without the recordings all you can do is track your mood and how many days it’s been since the breakup. You can still journal too but what’s the point if you’re not really getting any advice, I might as well type out my feelings somewhere else. Basically, if you want actual help you have to pay a good amount to receive it.
