Not my thing

2022-04-27

by Heyatleastimhonest

I delved in during the trial period and was thankful for there being one.

Minor things:

No night mode. The time I have for quiet and reflection is night. The design is bright. You can flip your phone over or turn off the screen but this would be a minor change that people will enjoy.

Music. I hope that was free music because it's just awful. It's the same phrase over and over. I have usedany meditation apps and this choice boggles my mind. Ifd never have expected soft, background music to be distracting.

Difficult to see text. The background is bright but the text isn't contrasted well & it's small. I get some people won't have a problem but this could easily be fixed by allowing a few options or even dimming the background-again.

Major:

Content. There's a lot of content. Cool. The content-proper is not for me. I have a background in psychology and I work as a parole officer. Cognitive-Behavioral is my preferred approach. The approach here is basically too sidling, too ephemeral. In the who speech, the same explication of a situation and examples could be done in 5-10 minutes. My takeaway if the 'point' & the action step from these could be delivered more succinctly.

I have had years of therapy & work as a civil servant. I currently have a therapist, as all therapists and counsors should. All of this to say that I really do have experience with getting and giving counsel. The concept of the app is good. My experience with it shows that it's not for me.

Not very helpful for me

This seems to share a lot of good communication tips one might accumulate after years of therapy. If you’re just getting started in your wellness journey that’s probably much more helpful. In that way I’m not the target audience. Also it’s DEFINITELY made for straight girls, oftentimes saying “your man” instead of “partner” and telling the listeners how inept “your man” is. Some of the time they seem to fall back on pretty sexist standards that were common place in couples counseling in the 60’s (men are from Mars style “husbands are so dumb we have to talk down to them” style of communication). My last gripe is the majority of the content seems aimed at our relationships with other people, which is good indeed, but this app was billed as a self care experience not couples counseling. I myself am more than my relationships to others and it doesn’t seems to promote that line of thought.

Worst tease ever.

It’s great for the people its actually aimed for. And that wouldn’t be the broken, heart broken, or defeated. If u went threw a breakup and were left with nothing then don’t even bother downloading it. It’s only meant for the rich considering EVERY SING video and daily spread and everything els. And I mean EVERYTHING els costs at least $2. Well spending that for every video. Then doing it everyday or spending the $15 a month witch is more than I pay for tv a month. Why the hell would I spend that kind of money on an APP that I use once a day for 10 mins??? You could still give it a try, I did. And within 40 seconds I realized I can do nothing more than stare at it wishing I could use it because I could have really used the help. But no she doesn’t want to help people she just wants to make bank. Clearly.
