Insta Toon: Cartoon & Art Cam Reviews

InstaToon was the best $5 I've spent in as long as I can remember. It's easy to use and has so many features and settings that after a solid month of converting multiple pics and shooting new videos, I'm still just scratching the surface. I've been recommending it to friends and co-workers heavily.

My only wish is that I could upload videos I've previously filmed and convert them.

Outside of that, InstaToon is THE number one in my opinion. Especially because there's only a one time fee to upgrade instead of a monthly or yearly subscription cost.

InstaToon is a great app to turn your photos you have already taken or take a new photo while in live mode on your phone and turn your photo into an art masterpiece! It makes really quality perfect iPhone ratio pictures and videos!! Most important thing I would tweak is to make it where the person's lips are not so red like the Joker in Batman in cartoon filter mode! Some other things that I would improve would be putting a timer on it so you could place phone on a tri-pod and make it so your Apple watch would work with it also, or at least add a 3second, 5 second and 10 second timers on InstaToon so you have a chance to adjust before the picture is taken! Overall a great app!!👍🏻🤪

I’ve always loved “cartoonifying” photos, but this takes things to a whole new level. First of all, I love that you can just buy it. I hate subscriptions, and most other apps you have to subscribe to to get all the features and disable watermarks. So thanks for making it a one time buy. InstaToon is so easy to use, anyone can use it. You can get advanced and adjust levels or just slap premade filters on. Some of my photos look so good I would seriously call them art. Great app!

What can I say but Fantastic, InstaToon has so many variations to keep an artist soul busy for hours. The live video and live camera options are amazing and what you can do to your photos is awesome. The interface is simple and easy to use, the only thing that gave me any problem was InstaToon would crash when I try to load my photo library. But I have a LOT of photos on my camera roll so it’s not the only app that has that problem. One thing I would love to see is support for landscape view on my iPad maybe that can be in one of the next updates.

I was looking for something that would turn photos I have into something that looks like a cartoon or a comic book. Bam! Done! Simple, intuitive, and fun. You can also make settings and then create a video in that style, but you cannot upload a video into that style (maybe one day). I bought the $5 pro version, because it was worth it. It’s a one time fee and it makes InstaToon feel open and how it was meant to be. I’d advise you to get this and get the pro version, it’s less than a cup of coffee for just a boat load of fun!

InstaToon is great!!! I wanted to make a profile picture for my wattpad account, but I didn’t know what to do, I then decided I wanted to do a cartoon version of a picture of me. I downloaded InstaToon with low expectations, as all the other apps I have downloaded that are like this all costed money to even do the cartoon version. I created the picture, and it not only was free, but it looked REALLY good too!
Yes, there is a paid version u can purchase, but it is not necessary and InstaToon works amazing without any extra filters.

I absolutely love InstaToon! Very high quality, and easy to use. My 11 year old Boxer, Diesel just passed and I have been looking for artist to paint his picture in a similar manner to house these filters make my pictures look. The price for a 12x12 started at $125. You get a lot of filters and editing for free and for only $5 to upgrade to pro it’s totally worth every penny! So glad I found this. Thank you for helping me remember my boy in a fun and creative way!

I somehow purchased InstaToon in my Apple apps account. $4.99 was the purchase price. I hope that isn’t a monthly fee. I couldn’t find anything to reference that. This is the first app I have ever paid for, excluding the iCloud. Using iPhone since 2013. If it turns out it has a monthly fee, I’m not sure if I would use it enough to pay monthly.

Anyway... I just love InstaToon. I have posted a few of the pictures on FB and everyone loves them!

I looked at all the other apps that try to give filters that make photos replicate and look like comics, cartoons, sketches, or paintings and none compare to this amazing app!!! When you pay for the plus you can get cool extra filters that are so worth the money!!! InstaToon and the makers rock and I look forward to seeing more from them!!! I really really enjoy InstaToon. I’ve downloaded over 15 apps that are supposed to make your images into cartoons or comics or just give it some flare and InstaToon by far beats every single one of them and this is the only one I use now. It’s very well put together, there’s no lag time when the filter is applied. It’s just an overall great experience. I highly recommend trying it out and then purchasing the premium version.

InstaToon worked great! Had it for over a year. Loved it... until...

It stopped saving my videos (iPhone 7). It says video saved to photos, but it was not there.

The options for Full HD and Ultra HD also disappear.

Not sure what I’ve done differently. Too bad. I really liked the output.

Update:

I reported this to the developer and my problem was resolved in a remarkably short time. Turns out it was mostly operator error. After recording a video, you need to wait a few seconds before closing InstaToon .

I changed my rating to 5 star as it now does everything I was expecting and then some.

No doubt my requirements and expectations are not the same as someone else, but ultimately I am very satisfied.

Great little app, definitely worth the $4.99 one-time purchase. No gimmicks, no annoying ads, no sucker of the month subscriptions like the other guys. Just a creative and fun little app for a decent one time price.

Don’t waste your time with the other guys. They offer less for sometimes five times as much... and that’s only for a month.

InstaToon is really fun to use and makes my pictures so much more fun and lively you can do light or dark even if you don’t have the pro it’s still a very fun game
The only problem I have is ,I wish that their was more things available without the pro because it’s pretty expensive 4.99 , other wise I love this game it’s so fun I hope you consider my review 😊

I gave InstaToon 1 Star the other day because I was disappointed that InstaToon did not work and it looked like it would have been awesome!
I am happy and beyond thrilled to tell you I contacted the developer and they fixed it in one day!!! They responded right away and communicated often to find what the problem was. I now find that this is my new favorite app!!!! Thanks guys!!!

InstaToon is great! The only thing that I don’t like about InstaToon is that you have to pay $5.00 for the Pro filters🙁. Other than that, I would totally recommend InstaToon. It’s so fun. I took a picture of my guinea pig and it worked very well. And I also like that you can take one of your own pictures, and put it in with filters on it. Great work and thank you for reading! 🙏🏻

This is a great app and can be used for many purposes. It functions great and is very smooth with great, fast editing. The one suggestion I have for an improvement is to add a “no filter” or “original” for the camera. All of the other filter work wonderful for everything, but there should be a “no filter”, just like the canvas, etc. Otherwise this is a great app that I am happy I upgraded to.

InstaToon is very user friendly and a fun photo editing tool to have. The regular version is great, but take the opportunity to upgrade to the pro edition for just $4.99, it is sooooo worth it. There are so many more extras and so many more additional options in the pro version that the regular version just doesn’t have.

I give InstaToon 5 stars. I usually steer away from leaving reviews, but this review is so worth it. I’ve spent the last two days searching for an app, as such, to get the job done, but all had failed me. InstaToon is well worth the try. I would definitely pay a fee to keep InstaToon up and running. Acceptable filters, provided that the original pictures are OK. The sketch (computer-generated filter) provided is rather decent.
Point is, the filters are not the traditional filters and tools as you would get in, say, Adobe Photoshop. This is a different set of things -- things that cannot be compared to the traditional RGB filters.
But you had downsides like the ads and the non-free stuff, but it was OK. If I am using it free then I guess this is plenty of what I'd need.

After reinstalling this application it works perfectly. The best part is of use. You do not have to be an artist or camera expert to attain the desired image effects you want. I am running this on a iPhone 11 with OS 13.4.1. I would definitely recommend InstaToon as well as the apps made by this developer. It is also great for children.

What a fantastic product! Easy to use and a ton of ways to customize an image to the way you like it. My only wish is the developer of InstaToon would team up with the developers of Affinity and create a plug in for their product. Then I could use it on my Windows operating system. This is one of my all time favorite apps. The effects are incredible and unique to anything I have ever seen. The filters can be applied to your existing photos or viewed as a live, real time camera. I highly recommend InstaToon to anyone wishing to add that extra pizzazz to their photo collection!

I use this for some of my instagram photos for my fam account , @_emmachamberlainn3 😂 and I love it. It’s really cool I love how my pictures turn out. I’m helping your company too because when I post things it says insta toon on the bottom and people probably check for InstaToon. Again, I think this is a great app!

I love InstaToon, the best comic look hands down. I tried so many apps but this one is the only one that meets my needs. The filter sketch 2 set to ultra Hd setting is so good. As of now the only way to reach that setting is through importing a photo, not by taking a pic in InstaToon . Would be a good update if possible.

I was wondering if this costed money because so far I haven’t used it at all but I downloaded it. It made me confirm that I was downloading it so I said yes. Before it swiped down I saw the word purchase and that scared me. I then saw an app that was 1.99 and the title on top of it said “in app purchases” and the name off InstaToon was very similar to this one. I figured it could be InstaToon.

Just wondering if InstaToon costed anything.

I downloaded InstaToon and totally lost 2 full days of my life playing around with it. I still haven’t mastered the entirety of its capabilities but have been blowing minds of everybody I show it to. High quality, almost bug free (and those bugs are probably just mine to own). GREAT APP!

This is by far the best filter app I have found. The other one that was okay was 8 dollars a weeks. I am totally going to upgrade to the pro version once I’ve figured out how to use the beginner ones properly. Awesome app. Keep up the great work. 🙂

Upgraded instantly after playing with the free version for a few minutes. Interesting effects and pretty intuitive, easy to manipulate and save to your photos. Check out Waterlogue if you like this one, pretty similar. I don’t like the black and white and some of the pattern opinions so I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5.

I read other reviews, so installed it... then I tried it on a photo from my album- my great grand-baby AND IT IS SO CUTE!!
It was instant!
I would only request that the programmers make it so it will save back to my photo album. As it is I can only share the cartoon image via a text to myself- where I then do a screen capture to save to my photo album. (This reduces the quality a little bit)

I will try the free parts for a while, then I may subscribe.
(I wanted to create cartoon selfies because I love the look of the paint by number apps)
