I’ve tried many times to record multiple tracks over each other, but they’re never synced correctly. The second track is always a fraction of a second ahead of the first, regardless of whether or not I played in sync with the track. On top of the technical issues, there is also the problem of the tracks playing in order, having to listen to the whole first recording before it plays the second track on top of it gets pretty aggravating. I suppose it works well enough for a free app, but I wouldn’t even consider paying actual money for it considering the fairly major issues that the current version experiences.

JamLooper for me personally can do everything I want as far as recording and fine tuning the actual sound I want.
But here’s the problem, you literally cannot edit the track at all in terms of its length. This makes JamLooper virtually unusable when it comes actually making a loop. It takes me about half a second to press stop so there is a pause at the end of the track ruining the timing.
This seems like such an obvious feature to me but they should just have a track editor where you can edit the sound waves! Truly I don’t understand why this wouldn’t be included, it would turn it into something incredibly useful if it didn’t pause in between every loop.

JamLooper seems very nice and helpful. I’ve only had one problem with it and frankly it is a huge deal breaker for me.
I was using my normal plug-in headphones to record and I was always recording on-beat but the recordings would never line up. Recording the bass line was fine but then when I would try to record the next track, the bass line would be offset from the metronome and that threw me off so I turned the metronome off and the tracks would still never sync up. I am deleting JamLooper and looking for a new one. Sorry, that is just not going to work for me

I have love JamLooper when it was working. Over the last month, though it has been crashing. as soon as I open it, it hangs in the loading and then it closes. I have closed JamLooper and reopened it a few times it crashes. i’ve uninstalled JamLooper and reinstalled it and re-recorded what I had and it was working just fine for about a week. Tried using it this morning and it’s back to crashing. I haven’t reported it to support yet, but I would think it’s not just happening to me. I will submit a report.

It’s a good app; it does what you need it to do, but I️ pressed record and switched over to my notes for the lyrics but JamLooper crashed and wouldn’t let me back in. I️ tried restarting my phone, but whenever I tried to open JamLooper it would just crash over and over. In the end, I️ had to delete JamLooper and the songs I️ had recorded on it… kind of a bummer, but like I️ said, it’s a good app other than that.

Here is what’s great: you can modulate any of the tracks to make whatever sounds you are after. Like resonance, low pass, high pass, tremblo, pitch.
But it’s really hard to record a short 1st track and time it while playing an instrument. I like to start with the chord progression, not the beat. So... it would be great if I could hit the button like I would a loop petal. Instead you have this 1 measure countdown, and it’s hard to create a clean first loop that way. I need at least two measures of lead up, or better yet more control of when to start and stop the loop. There’s no way to edit the loop.
Furthermore, after the first loop, the rest of the recordings don’t repeat, just the first one, so you have to play out the whole song it seems.
So, you can create some cool stuff but it’s not as great as it could be.

I love JamLooper , I really do. It is very intuitive and aesthetic of it all is absolutely amazing. Though the one problem I have is the playing of the individual songs I’ve made. When playing it either both songs on top of each other, or a the previous song I chose prior to the wanted I wanted to play.
I hope the developers will read this because it is the one thing hindering JamLooper from being absolutely amazing.

I’ve tried a lot of looping apps and this is by far the best one. I love the simplicity of the interface, but a hands free auto-stop is one thing I could not find that is insanely important to me. Some setting to stop the audio after 2 or 4 measures automatically so you don’t have to put down the guitar/drumsticks and stop the track, then trim the audio. If that setting gets added into JamLooper , I will without a doubt give this 5 stars and go pro. :)

I mainly gravitated toward JamLooper for the ability to multi layer tracks. This helps me write a quick lead idea over a chord progression without having to run to my DAW. That being said, it’s sufficient for riffing over but the recording when it comes to multiple tracks is wanting.
For example, when I record more than one track and go to trim the second track, there is a delay when it starts which makes trimming such a burden. On top of that, it appears to get exponentially worse the more tracks you add. I tried a basic drum beat, chords and a lead and the last track started with an almost 8 sec delay. This ends up making it so that I use JamLooper for raw ideas only and move on right away after some basic noodling. If the devs goal is to get that $9.99 premium, I don’t see where that value is coming from. Not a bad looking app at all but solely an issue with the playback latency/delay. Minor issues with sliding samples/recordings around on the timeline. Doesn’t feel very intuitive.
For reference, I’m using an iPhone 13, so I should have more than enough processing power and I tried JamLooper for about 4 months.

My use case: little snippets of song ideas pop into my head while working, walking, etc., and I want to record myself whistling, humming, etc., so I can remember them when I have access to my instruments later.
I used to use voice memos for this but, when I listened to them later, it could be difficult to remember what I was originally hearing in my head. Being able to record multi-track loops, basically in the same way as, eg, a guitar looper pedal, allows me to record something closer to the idea in my head, making the idea much easier to “hear” again later. L
JamLooper is great and easy to use for this use case.
The feedback: it would be great if the metronome sound could be clickier, a little less musical and a little more neutral/percussive. I find it *very* easy for my brain to interpret the current, beepy metronome sound, basically, as a tonic note. This makes it much more difficult to record my idea because my internal sense of what key I should humming or whistling in kind of evaporates.
That said, awesome and easy to use app.

I’m a musician who often has a lot of different ideas at once and I struggle getting them all down. JamLooper is so handy and aligns with my creative process, which is so cool. I love how simple the layout is, and how easy it is to get different ideas down!
*I do wish there was a way to toggle through the loop as a whole - sometimes I just want to listen back to a section but instead have to listen to the whole thing to get to it. This also goes hand-in-hand with recording - it would be cool to be able to drop into a specific section to record a loop, instead of playing the whole thing
*I also wish there was an undo delete as sometimes I’ve deleted the wrong loop and have had to re-record it!
A few suggestions for an even better experience :) I love JamLooper, and am absolutely going to keep using it. I hope that future updates make it even better + I hope my feedback helps :)

JamLooper is truly amazing a great way for my daughter to finally be able to enlist her inner artist with music but I would say one thing I was going over and I realized that you cannot just make a song it Hass to loop we came through it but I would rather it be have choices to loop or two make an actual song other than that JamLooper is great I totally recommend

JamLooper has so much potential and I love the simplistic and creative interface. I bought the full version and the audio filters are a sweet extra I didn't even need but are fun to play around with. To get that 5 star rating you gotta fix the frequent crashes though

OVERVIEW
I have had a great experience with JamLooper aside from a frustrating bug that will not allow me to export my recorded song, along with a few ideas for further enhancement of JamLooper that would make the work flow a little smoother.
IDEAS FOR ENHANCEMENT W/O COMPLICATING THINGS
I would love to see a zoom in / out feature for the track timeline and trim. It would be done by simply pinching & expanding your fingers on the track or timeline.
A visual waveform overlayed on each track and enhanced snapping would really help with aligning each track on the track timeline.
The ability of individual tracks to go farther beyond the base loop, or an option to not have a base loop at all would be very helpful for longer loops, since the base loop cannot be moved, only trimmed, as far as I’m aware (My current work-around is to record a long base loop, and mute it so I can have a longer loop).
EXPORT FEATURE BUGGED
“Export failed.” JamLooper will not export the song I recorded. I tried restarting JamLooper , restarting my phone, closing any conflicting apps, and still the same result. Not sure what the problem is.
CONCLUSION
JamLooper is really fun, simplistic, well-designed, and useful. I am especially impressed at the amount of great features that are completely free. I am happy to change my review to 5-stars if there are some subtle improvements.

Pros: I was looking for an app that could have multiple recordings played at once, and JamLooper did that and some.
I love the countdown feature you get right as you click the record button.
I also think it’s very cool how it gives you the tempo of your own song, and it names it for you! I don’t think I’ve seen any other apps do that.
It is a common thing to have the option on how loud you want each track to be, but it’s a good thing that JamLooper has it too.
Cons: Unfortunately, my recording were not in sync. Which forces me to start my other track a couple seconds later when I play it on top of my first track. Other wise it will sound bad, but I can live with it.
Conclusion: I feel as though JamLooper is mostly fine when it comes to having multiple tracks play at once. Besides for it not being in sync, and the timing not being perfect.
But I think it’s very cool/creative because it gives you the tempo, an option to use a metronome, and giving it a name by itself.
Which is just cool to me because I don’t think I’ve seen any other apps do that. But I might be wrong.

Jam Looper is so much fun to use. I am not a great musician but I have found so many ways to use this. I have looped songs to make cannons and rounds dividing the parts into different tracks. I have looped words and phrases and made interesting combination.I even recorded one whole song from beginning to end by just laying the first track and letting it run silently till the end of the song and laying the second track coming in right after the first phrase first track and letting it run if that makes any sense. I like the different sounds the voice makes and I like the way you can turn the volume up and down on the tracks to determine which track you’re listening to. This is great!

I’m not one for reviews (No seriously, I know people say that, but I’ve actually never written a review on anything before) buttttttt… JamLooper goes above and beyond when it comes to consumer care. I had a glitch on my end, and within 8 hours of reaching out to the developers I was given a clear and concise reply, explaining how to fix my situation. Amazing on their end for being so compliant. Also JamLooper itself is just fantastic, easy to use, and free. I personally enjoy how you could use any feature for free with just the payment of watching an ad. It’s very well worth the editing and other tools that are easy to use. Overall I’d rate it 5/5 stars! The only thing is maybe change is maybe having a login, so if you delete JamLooper or it doesn’t save, all of your recordings wouldn’t be deleted.
That’s all! Thanks for reading! (:

I’ve been using JamLooper for a while, and one thing that I’ve realized is that professional music needs professional equipment.
It’s pretty funny to me how most of the 1 star reviews say that JamLooper is laggy or has a background noise, when the issues are most likely the users fault. One example is that different headphones pick sound up differently. Some headphones may have a delay which could make multiple recordings integrate badly. Also JamLooper only picks up sound that’s there, so if there’s background noise, then it’s probably from the real world and not JamLooper . The only background noise from JamLooper is the beeping from the metronome, which also makes sense, because if the phone is making noise then it’s probably going to pick up on the noise.
Basically, to make sure problems don’t occur, your going to want to use at least decent headphones.

Great looper for some self-practice. This is just what I was looking for when I want to practice some acoustic soloing without going to my pedal board. The timing feature solves any blu tooth lag but I’d like to see an option to lock-in default timing settings for all loops without having to adjust it each time for each new recording. I find, for my looping for example, that 0.4s track timing and 0.1s end trim is almost always spot on for a seamless loop but I have to enter that setting manually each time instead of being able to set it as a default. Awesome simple intuitive app!!

I am leaving only 2 stars because I love JamLooper and wish it would actually work. The second track is never in sync with the first one. It makes it impossible to actually record music... JamLooper and features are great and wish they would fix the sync issue. Also having to listen to the whole track to export is a bit annoying. By the time we’ve recorder the 8 track we already know it’s ready to be exported.
