Gin Rummy Card Game Classic™ Reviews

I find this game user friendly. The graphics and sound feedbacks are adequate. I tried several other gin rummy games and think this one has the most pleasant balance of card dealing speed and ad frequency. However, there’s this bug that really bugs me. Every 10 games or so, it happens that my opponent knocks after I draw a card. It would be ok if the system ignores the extra card I have. But it doesn’t! Imagine you have only 2 points and you draw a K, only to find that the opponent has just knocked at the same time, say with a total of 8 points. So instead of an undercut plus +6 (+31 points), you now are -6 in this round. That’s a 37 points difference! Not only that, if you quickly discard the extra card (K in this example) which doesn’t belong to you in the first place, you will be punished by a second count. Depends on the cards you have, the opponent’s card might lay-off and more points will be deducted further from you. You would end up losing a game. This happens too frequently as I play faster and faster, and it is getting too frustrating!!

I had not played Gin Rummy in years before downloading GinRummyCardGameClassic, and now I don't ever want to stop playing or experiencing the fun again. If you enjoy card games and want to play something besides poker then you definitely need to check GinRummyCardGameClassic out. It is by far the best gin rummy app I can find, and I love the smoothness of the gameplay, the ability to change difficulty levels, and the help function. Definitely my favorite new app to play with my friends. Download it today, you will be glad you did!

Sorry to say after playing several hundred games of Gin in GinRummyCardGameClassic, the AI is so bad I almost never lose anymore. Total lack of challenge makes GinRummyCardGameClassic incredibly boring after a while.

Want proof? All you have to do is keep discarding the highest cards in your hand, only pick up from the discard pile if the displayed card card is lower than your highest card or if it can be melded immediately. Oh, and NEVER knock. That's it. Simply stick to your guns with this simple strategy and you will win about twice as many games as you lose. This is because the stupid AI knocks so much that as long as you stick to this strategy the AI I'll either win minimal points for each knock, or you will undercut. It's so simple it's embarrassing.

This is the best and least formulaic online Gin Rummy game I've found to date, and I have tried several. For decades, I have enjoyed playing Gin the old-fashioned way. But BIG however. The advertisements come so thick and fast that they all but ruin the fun, especially if I'm playing where I do mostly ... on my (large sized) cell phone. The ads even cover the lower half of the cards and pop up full screen in the middle of a hand. This game is so good that I'd be happy to leave the free version and pay for the privilege of ad freedom -- but there's no sign that Gin Rummy Pro lacks advertisements and no write up on that version with the information I need.

I had downloaded a different app for this. It was so bad you could barely concentrate on the game because of pop up ads. I don't mind ads, the game is free, but when ads pop in in the middle of play it was ridiculous. I told them and then deleted that version and downloaded this one. This is a real pleasure to play. Thank you very much. Don't know much more I can add. It's a great version and it gives you several versions of Gin to play. AB

Gin Rummy has to be one of the most fun games to play with friends. So the fact that they turn it into an app that you can play on your mobile makes this the best way to get the Gin Rummy experience. GinRummyCardGameClassic is very well designed and is super user friendly. There were no bugs or crashes that I experienced. Definitely check it out.

I like this game - it's one of the better rummy games that allow you to play against the AI. That said I get frustrated because it is too easy to accidentally throw away a card when in is part of a meld. I wish it had some sort of confirmation. Auto melding works fine most of the time too but I wish there were a setting on whether to favor straights or like cards when forming melds. These aside I like the game and recommend it!

Recently I was asked to download the upgrade and what a mistake that was. The newer version is very jumpy and now it has decided to let me play one turn then it disappears. It was especially jerky when ads were running across the bottom which I managed to hide as they are very distracting. After several years of playing I am now looking for an alternative gin rummy game. Why can’t you leave well alone?

It’s really crappy that you allow people to manipulate the cards and cheat it’s a good game but you’ve got somebody on there that is cheating and manipulating the cards electronically and you can’t tell me that you don’t so fix it or I’m gonna delete the game

I agree with commenter that is frustrated with AI frequently undercutting when I only an ace left - bull crap. Also, I’ve experienced several game hangups where my draw card is not shown and I have to discard a card I don’t want to discard in order for the game to continue. Finally, I’m always dealt a lousy start compared to AI who more often than not gets to knock very early in the game. Not really a fair competition to the point that I just end the game in frustration.

I used to like this game, but after a recent update I tried to play and it took me to a BLACKJACK app. On most sites, you would merely have to decline or wait until the animations stopped. Not on this one! The only way it lets you out is to click PLAY ... which takes you to GinRummyCardGameClassic store. If you don’t want GinRummyCardGameClassic and click DONE, it tajes you back to the Blackjack screen every time.
Try a different unless you want to be forced to download other app you may not want.

Hate to sound like a sore loser, but AI constantly holds high cards I need until I throw part of the set. Then it immediately discards the card I needed. I get this could happen but it’s waaaay too often. And only on high cards, so if you want to beat it only save low cards! It also undercuts me when I only have an ace left- not with a lay-off but with zero points in its hand. The first time I just thought “that’s weird”, why wouldn’t the computer go down last round if it had zero, but it’s happened like 4 times now.

While this free app has pretty decent graphics, sound and a nice sort feature and offers several minor variations of rummy to choose from (hence the two stars), it also has a fatal flaw. It occasionally re-deals discards later in the game. I thought at first I was imagining it, so I kept track and yes, it happened at least once in most of the games. Bizarre. Another flaw in the algorithm is how frequently, after discarding one card of a pair (like 8-8), a third card of that kind will be dealt from the deck on the next round. Bummer.

Never played this kind of game, I actually never even heard of it! Can't believe i missed so much fun all these years, cause its as challenging as poker and not easy at all. I like that in GinRummyCardGameClassic you can choose the difficulty level, so that it won't be too easy for me :) i would advice to work a little on design though, other than that it's perfecto!

I have been playing several games in each mode and the box score and the total score tabs do not open! This seems like such a basic function to be failing totally that it makes me wonder about the skill level of the ai. I have noticed that it tends to pick up card and then discard it on the next turn more often than I would expect. I can not be certain of the ai issue but the scores not showing is for sure.

Not bad for a challenge. However, you must play very smart because the game basically “cheats” on every hand by controlling the card deck based on what cards you have. The card you are waiting for comes up as soon as you no longer need it & the AI opponent seems to do the same and will hold a card you need as if it knows your hand! (Which it does, of course, since it’s a digital game - but just saying)

I love your game, but recently it sometimes freezes - it has no option to take a card — so the only option is to forfeit the game — frustrating!! I tried to provide this as feedback, but it wasn’t able to send. Can you fix it please? Thanks!

...game. Played three rounds..learned what to tap when... took 2 games to do that...how about some instructions?? When the first game started, I just stared at the screen...sure enough, I tossed away the third queen by mistake because I hit the wrong thing.....BTW, I won twice....😁😁😁😁

Great for the first few games but then it seems like GinRummyCardGameClassic gets tired. It will throw my card off screen so that I cannot use it until I pick another card. It will knock after I have picked another card so I have more cards then I should when the AI goes out. It gets frustrating. It’s not smooth playing.

Rummy was something new to me and it appeared to be quite a nice way to kill time. I learned to play it quickly because rules are explained thoroughly in GinRummyCardGameClassic . The game is quite challenging and extremely entertaining, Besides you can choose different difficulty settings, decks of cards and backgrounds.

I’ve tried several different offerings of gin rummy but this is my favorite by far. I had never played it and this version allows you to pick easy, medium or hard. Started with easy and progressed. Also offers several types of gin rummy, very entertaining.
