Hate it

S30E30M30iCom is horrible. I’ve had this system for about three years. In the beginning, it seemed to work well. However, after about a year, S30E30M30iCom started to work intermittently. Over time it has gotten worse and worse. Barely 25% of the time S30E30M30iCom will communicate properly. S30E30M30iCom will open, I can adjust the temperature, but yet it doesn’t send the command to the thermostat. So nothing happens, the setting simply stays where it was previously. The WIFI is very strong so that shouldn’t be a problem. It’s just incredibly frustrating to have a system that doesn’t work as it should.

Worst app I’ve ever used

I haven’t gotten on S30E30M30iCom Store to leave a review in years—but S30E30M30iCom just blows my mind in the worst ways.
- App won’t load even when every other internet using device is off and we’re getting over 500mb download speed from our modem
- When using the mobile app to change the temp, very often it will have no effect and just glitch back to the temp it was before you changed anything. What?
- Constantly get a “no internet” (wifi pic with an X over it) error when the router, thermostat, and the node connected to the furnace are all within 10ft of each other. And all other devices access the Internet fine—even all the way down the hallway with doors closed and a strong signal…

You could argue it’s a hardware issue with the thermostat or the unit connected to the furnace. But it was installed 2022. What piece of hardware is newly installed that would relay internet traffic that poorly? I hate S30E30M30iCom more than the stupid talking Tom thing on my kids tablet—the one where any click is 90% a micro transaction screen. More than that. Feels like using Windows 95 to run the new CoD.

Unresolved bug. Lennox help?

I emailed my local installer about an issue with the "perfect temperature" setting hoping they would forward it on to Lennox but I never heard anything back. "Set it and forget it" in theory, but this random software engineer (me) noticed the bug reveals itself early spring and fall when the outside temp dances below and then back above the set point. Lennox if you are interested please let me know where to forward my findings. S30E30M30iCom itself is probably fine, but giving it a low score here until I hear back from someone at Lennox who either knows the fix or can tell me if I need a software update. Thanks!

Love to Hate

When I first had the system installed, it was great because I could control the temperatures in each room in my house. While it took about 15 seconds to open, I was happy for the first 6 months. Then one day I couldn’t see any of the room thermostats or sometimes only a few. After months of complaining, it suddenly improved. I believe others voiced complaints as well. Now sadly, it just doesn’t want to open at all or closes while in the process of opening. Lennox is a big company and this is not rot a complicated app. Please get some good programmers and update S30E30M30iCom.

I wrote the above 2 years ago. The problems still exist but not as frequently. Out biggest problem now is the physical thermostats just stop working for no reason. And it’s the same ones each time. Not a good system and not zoned well.

Plain and Simply Does Not Work

S30E30M30iCom just plain and simply does not work. It doesn’t talk to our system, and it’s not a WiFi issue. We can’t ever turn our system on or change settings remotely. We have to use the main console, and even that works correctly maybe 60% of the time. If we didn’t have solar, this would be costing us a ton of money because it runs our system when we don’t want it to and we can’t reliably get it to turn off when we’re out of the house. This system came with the house and it’s going to be the first thing to go when Black Friday rolls around. I’m so surprised that there are so many positive reviews, because in our experience, this is complete and total junk.

Always offline

Our thermostat is nearly always offline. Early on I had the plumber/installer of our Lennox furnace come back to fix it. It was expensive and they didn’t fix the problem. It still goes offline regularly and stays that way for days or weeks. I am grateful to have S30E30M30iCom so that I can make adjustments. But I am the only one with the ability to have S30E30M30iCom . Directions are terrible on how to add family members to enable the away mode and Lennox customer service doesn’t have a clue. In the future I would not purchase a Lennox furnace if this thermostat is required. It might be great it just doesn’t work and the company isn’t able to support it well.

Update 2

The displayed values on my iPhone after attempting to change the settings are usually wrong after the recent upgrade. It is as if the aap is possessed. The work-around is quitting the aap and reopening. Prior to the update, the aap was a little slow but tolerable. There was a brief period a few years ago when the aap seemed to work as the designers must have intended. The rest of the time, my experience has been very disappointing. You’d think that paying >$15,000 for a new Lennox HVAC system would include functional control software. That seemingly minor defect is sufficient to call my purchase decision into question. Like buying a fancy new sports car only to discover that the steering mechanism doesn’t work and attempts to fix it over the last several years have been unsuccessful.

So so

The rating is misleading because users are reviewing the entire system, not just S30E30M30iCom . As for S30E30M30iCom , it works okay most of the time but it randomly gets wonky and prevents you from connecting to the thermostat remotely. It will say the that the thermostat has no network connection, when it actually does. It will let you set the temp, only to revert the thermostat back to the original setting. When that happens, the only way you can connect is through the website. I would still recommend S30E30M30iCom , but it doesn’t earn almost five stars.

Unstable connectivity

S30E30M30iCom is ok when it works, but often one or both systems looses connectivity. Because zoning thermostats are not controllable by HomeKit (huge design failure) S30E30M30iCom is the only way to control the zones, and, unlike control through homekit, S30E30M30iCom loses connectivity. For example, I am now on vacation, and the upstairs system was offline for 5 days this week. If i were home, i could have used the thermostat manually to instruct it to restart. But that defeats the purpose of remote access.

Lennox S30 virtues

We have had had our Lennox Signature series system for almost six years. The comfort and efficiency it provides has been superb. There have been zero problems and it has seen a wide range of temperatures. From cooling our home for many days above 100 degrees to warming us on multiple days of single-digit temperatures, we couldn’t have asked for better service. Our climate in the Oklahoma City area can be challenging! One of the best features is the S30 thermostat. It is easy to use and it allows several options for controlling our home comfort. It also emails a monthly report of our energy usage! We highly recommend Lennox products and the folks who install and maintain the equipment.

Fails to maintain Wifi Connection

Have the lennox system and this replacement thermostat- 1st older version failed after 4 yrs. This new iComfort S30 keeps loosing connection to wifi - i have a Mesh Wifi network and randomly the Thermostat looses connection and one has to physically be in front of it to reset it. Have called supoort - can not resolve as their lack of understanding Cloud connection IOT, and Lennox own servers … then the wifi fiemware is ancient so looses connection after 48 max 72 hrs…
Very Diasppointed and then the lack of Service / Replacement …

App doesn’t display data

Many times I open S30E30M30iCom and the data doesn’t display. I have to close and reopen S30E30M30iCom several times in order for it to display. My wifi connection is good. This did not use to happen so perhaps an update broke it. I wish it would get fixed. It is annoying when you are suppose to be able to access your thermostat remotely to adjust the temperature. I see others have commented on this also so there must be problem. Please look into it. Thank you.

Lennox - iComfort

Not such a good system. I have had many issues with the iComfort not connecting to the smarthub and the A/C stops working because the thermostat isn’t working. Glad I can control the thermostat from my iPhone otherwise I would have no A/C. Lennox A/C is supposed to be a great system and very expensive- I have had to replace the thermostat twice already and have had every part replaced in the condensing unit and the coil in the air handler. I would never buy a Lennox system again or an iComfort thermostat. This thermostat costs over $800. That’s insane.

IComfort App

App only connects maybe 25% of the time. When I come back to S30E30M30iCom it most likely won’t connect either. Have to enter my email each time, app never remembers it. Instructions doesn’t explain the pre setting such as summer, winter and such. S30E30M30iCom has to connect to the Lennox server first which if you can’t connect to their server then you can’t connect to the thermostat. Connection should work the other way, connect to the thermostat first then it can try to connect to their server.

Love My IComfort APP

Having a thermostat that I can control remotely has been one of the greatest assets in my life! If I wake up during the night and I’m hot or cold, I can reach for my cell phone and either turn on the air or turn up the heat. If on my way from home and I program it for a way I can reset the thermostat on my way home and have the house be comfortable when I get there. Sometimes I just program the temperature for the amount of hours I’m going to be gone and have it reset itself to the scheduled ones. It is easy and convenient.

Super-solid, but Smart Away needs work

S30E30M30iCom is all-around pretty darn good. It emulates most of the snappy, responsive controls of the wall unit. Recent updates have made it much more reliable.

One small thing, the auxiliary heat icon clearly indicates electric resistance. It would be nice if the icon recognized a heat pump/gas furnace setup and showed a blue flame icon… or something more appropriate.

I kind of wish you could access the performance report available on the browser-based experience, but no big deal.

Unfortunately, Smart Away has a fatal flaw in that it will override the current system mode setting. For example, if you have the system OFF and leave your house, Smart Away will switch the system to Heat/Cool. If you leave your windows open on a hot day and leave the house, you’ll be blowing money out those windows.

I don’t have to get up to turn up!

We have a split level house. One of the first things I do when I wake up, is turn up the heat. Our thermostat is down two floors (that was decided when I was 30 years younger). Now, I can turn up the heat before I go downstairs and the house is warm. Plus, if no one remembered to turn it down at bedtime, I can do it without running downstairs. When we leave town, I can turn the heat up 30 mins. before we get home and the house will be cozy when we arrive. We find it very convenient and efficient.

Cold air when I want HEAT

I hate having the heater on, but yet cool air is blowing. What can I do or change the settings so this will stop. It is freezing outside but yet hot air blows sometimes but then other times cool air is blowing. I have changed different settings. When I contacted Abacus who sold the unit to us or when the technician was out to do the annual heating checkup, they both told me to read the booklet that comes with the thermostat. They could not help me!

Problems again!

The recent release keeps switching my HVAC system from “zoned” to “system” and back again at random. We have a zoned system and it was working great before the new release. As a result, we have lost control of our thermostat and the temperature settings! As a result, we alternate between hot and cold and can’t get a good night’s sleep.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Lennox M30

It works very well. I especially like the WiFi feature, easy to turn it up or down when you find you will not be returning home for a while. Also, if the weather change while you are away you can turn it up or down so when you return home it will be nice and cozy when our return.

The only thing I don’t let like, at night when we’re sleeping it doesn’t stick to the settings I have programmed it for. It runs about 5 degrees warmer than expected.

I also like the 2 stage heating and cooling that it has, especially since it was not installed correctly!
