As one review said, I want to love WorldSurfLeague . But you guys are not helping much. First of all, it has performance problems, everything seems to load too slowly. Secondly, it has major bugs in the auth part. For more times than I can count, I went to the fantasy section and it would return an error about the auth token. It returned an actual json, not even an error page. And when this happens, you don’t even have the option to login again. I have to manually log out and try to sign in. Today I couldn’t even sign in again. Finally, as if the auth problem on the fantasy part wasn’t enough, this week it affected all WorldSurfLeague . I could not load a single page (aside from the ads, these were loading just fine. I wonder why you make sure these work before everything else). I hope I can delete this review in the future.

I love WorldSurfLeague and everything that it has to offer. I especially love being notified when a surfer that I follow is about to start their heat! I just wonder if I might offer a suggestion to add one thing onto WorldSurfLeague ? And that is to maybe to have backplay as an option? 😅 As much as I LOVE watching the comps, I do get messages and other notifications that constantly draw me away from the attention of the surfers. But if you had a backplay option, I could still listen to the comp while doing other things on my phone! I know that this sounds like a REALLY nit-picky idea and it is. The WSL app is ok, but it seams like time and time again, I find myself having to use a desktop to access things like heat scores and updates during specific events. Or... if these things are available to me, I can’t find the access, which means WorldSurfLeague isn’t user friendly. Either way, I’m happy to be able to watch live surfing on my phone so I don’t want to complain. On the other hand, it’s 2019 and I believe WSL’s standards could be set much higher for their online production team. Right now everything is just competent, like your app. It works ok, but could be so much better compared to all the other apps out there in the world.

Ever since the week before Pipeline, WorldSurfLeague repeatedly crashes and gives a”wipeout “ message. I have the newest, decked out IPhone 13pro max, which I love, and have had zero problems with all other apps. My 4 year old Apple TV runs WorldSurfLeague great and I watch events there mostly but a few times I wanted to watch on my phone and it kept “wiping out “ The only thing I can do is completely delete WorldSurfLeague and reinstall it again like it’s the first time I’ve ever done it and it will work for a short time until it does it again. WorldSurfLeague needs a serious overhaul and a link to the store would be nice and generate the folks a lot of money 💰. Please fix as surfing season is upon us!!

There are too many instances where the Apple TV version of WorldSurfLeague won’t stream a heat (just the black loading screen after a commercial), but the iPhone app will stream. The other main complaint I have is on the heat replays. Not sure if it is WorldSurfLeague or whomever is responsible for the loading the content. During the European leg, some of the condensed heat formats would play the full heat. Some of the heats just weren’t available or played the wrong heat. That was true for both stops: France and Portugal 2019. Given this is not the WSL’s first year of existence, I hope they get it together by pipeline. Finally, one additional suggestion for the iPhone/iPad version is to not automatically play the video. Sometimes I just want to see the results.

Ok first off I enjoy WorldSurfLeague.....but, your fantasy app lacks basic info on a regular basis. Should jack Robinson really have been an option for a contest that started in a country he wasn’t even in.? For that matter should Toledo and Zietz been rewarded regular point totals to tee off in a freesurf with each other while Robinson wasn’t in the country. I think not. This is not nam, there should be rules. Which brings me to the total lack of info on injuries; there is no injury report. WorldSurfLeague actually right now allows me to pick Jon Jon to score points at j-bay. It’s so bad it’s funny. Anyway wishing for better.

We all have our routines when it comes to waking ourselves up in the morning. It seems you almost have to have one when the sky is just starting to wake up along with you. Checking the WSL app on the front porch while taking on my first sips of coffee and water, is a paradise in itself that I have created! Very therapeutic! Awesome app and a really good set up!! It has become a pleasure of mine! Way better than checking social media apps on the start of your day! Safe and happy surfs our there to ya! 🤙🏽☯️💙

What’s the point of sending me notifications to watch the contest that WSL has been planning all along if WorldSurfLeague kicks me out every single time. I even tried watching it online on a browser and the video freezes halfway way through each heat. I had to reload, watch all of the commercials and then once again, within the first five seconds, the browser would tell me the play feature had ended. I tried to do this about ten different times. Straighten out your video platform before advertising the contests and asking people to tune in live. It was one of the most disappointing experiences. I am missing out on the final heat because of it.

It’s incredible frustrating to use the WSL app or even their website. Why would you force someone to click on a specific heat to be able to see the heat total score? It makes no sense whatsoever. Why does the video start automatically? There’s people with limited data on their plans. Why do you force us with Facebook? You want to be a partner with a social media platform, the LinkedIn for example. All in all, I’ve turned from a regular fan that would watch every event to barely even bothering checking heat results at the end of each day. Keep it going and next step will be to permanently delete your app and all social media following.

However the new player is so intrusive with the ads that it is impossible to scrub around to a different section of an episode without being served the ads over and over again. You need to figure out a way to make the player keep track of how many ads it is serving up and not make it serve ads every time a person scrubs forward or backward. There are enough ads already inserted into the content without this.

The ability to dial into to amazing footage and contest coverage is nearly a win out of the gate without WSL having to do anything. Execution is rough. I’m ‘happy’ to watch commercials to support the experience but the same dang commercials over and over and over are mind numbing. Not to mention WorldSurfLeague often freezes/hangs on launch as it tries to figure out what commercial to hit you with before you see anything...then often watch the same commercial again when you select what you want to watch. There has to be a better way to seamlessly incorporate commercials without hosing the experience.

Stop requiring users to download new updates, I should be able to just play contests from previous builds of app. New version won’t even open, I can’t watch ballito pro. Does anyone bug check these things? I woulda left the old one which still sucked, like playing heat replays would loop so that when they finished, it would replay them even if I exited out of that heat, but at least it worked. The whole click to see scores is unnecessary, trying to be fancy, just keep it simple stupid. Make sure live stream works flawless and be quick with the heat replays, you got 2 jobs now do it right wsl!

There should be an option to turn off the auto play function for video playing. Having more well written articles about the surfers or the surf locations would be nice as well. The layout is good for WorldSurfLeague but an expanded standings view showing the results of each surfer at each event, like on the desktop, would also be a welcomed feature.

cant even watch 1 wave replay clips without watching 2 ads first, half the events page is blank space, and videos cut out when i have my bluetooth headphones connected. There is no window in windo option for videos, so you can’t even scroll thru WorldSurfLeague while you watch a video anymore. WorldSurfLeague is straight up worse than it was 4-5 years ago, it used to be much easier to use. Now it just feels like a giant waste of time with a (no longer) trendy white background. get it together people

Under the “Events” page you shouldn’t have to scroll to find the current event. The current event should be at the top. All past events (cancelled, postponed, or complete) should be in a separate tab.
It’s just a little hard to find especially because the upcoming and current event labels are both highlighted in gray.

I used to like WorldSurfLeague but now it just keeps saying, “Wipeout! We are experiencing technical difficulties. Tap retry to try again.” I use the retry and nothing happens. Same message. I can’t access my fantasy team because it gives me an error message! Super frustrating. I have to delete WorldSurfLeague and reinstall. Works for a day or two then bam back with the same message. This is the fourth time that I am going to delete and reinstall. I shouldn’t have to do this every time!!! I need answers!! Fix it!!!

For as much as they promote the Fantasy league during live broadcasts, you’d think they’ve invested in working out previous feedback, bugs, etc., but it’s unfortunately frustrating and disappointing experience. Apart from an updated visual treatment, it seems like the WSL leadership simply may not care enough; functionality is pretty flakey.

Ok hi um whyyyy isn’t there options to not upgrade WorldSurfLeague , I do not no the password for buying apps and stuff because I am a kid, but why can’t there be options like SKIP UPGRADE. Like bro I really wanted to watch some surfing rn but guess why I have to figure out the long password because my parents are busy. Make options plz. 🙂 otherwise, WorldSurfLeague is gnarly.

Video streaming, especially the adds, freeze often. Going directly to the website via a browser is better than WorldSurfLeague for me. Fantasy sign up and navigation could be more user friendly. It’s not very intuitive. I mostly dont use WorldSurfLeague anymore and just go straight to the website.

When I log in to watch heat replays, I’d like the option to turn off seeing the results of heats.

Living in different time zones than where the event is taking place is hard to keep up, and when I log on to watch the events I’d appreciate if there weren’t spoilers.

Great app nonetheless! It’s a good replacement to cable TV

WorldSurfLeague used to be much easier to navigate and to see the information you wanted to see. Now it’s stuck on the current event and you can’t go back and look at the title race or other articles without a lot of searching. Not better. Return it to the way it was, this is an irritation.

I really wish I could love WorldSurfLeague. Everybody I know gets to watch the sports they love on tv, namely, football, basketball, and baseball. As a surfer, I’d love nothing more than to see the sport that I love and believe to be the most creative and artistic sport of all get the respect it deserves on the world stage. The fact that WorldSurfLeague is the closest thing we surfers have to seeing the pinnacle of our sport is truly sad. It is worse than amateurish. It does not represent what our noble sport has to offer the world.

Now I have to sit through a 30 second ad just to read an article. Can’t read anything until the video is done. Seriously? Btw, AirPlay still hasn't worked in a long long time. Only commercials play correctly. When the feed starts, the video is horrible or kicks you off. Please fix.
