The game

This is a game I found while bored out of my mind. I was like” oh this looks neat let’s take a look”. It started downloading and I was like meh but then I realized that I CAN PLAY THIS OFFLINE. And I was like. “ OMG YESSSSSSS” as I had been searching for a game like this. While playing I realized. Omg this is like XCOM and I love XCOM so I was very happy to find this out. This is a neat game which involves base building and what not which is sweet. Only thing I think that would make this better would be different maps, a little more classes (as there is only sniper, scout, and heavy) and maybe something else idk. Better graphics? Idk. Great game though because while playing I never even saw a thing asking for a rating. Well now I’m a little ways into it and for some reason I can’t collect the rewards to some quests. Is still a good game but the grind is a bit much. Feels a little to much like a computer game and something that you have to spend weeks on in order to get one weapon.

Lots of potential but fails

I was enjoying it very much but once you reach level 15 you hit a big difficult point where your outnumbered under powered that your only chance of proceeding is by spending real money. I can handle the difficulty and the waiting to level up but the biggest offender was when your mercs dies you can revive them instantly with an item and gain a cyborg perk which is great. But what the game didn't disclose was if your merc dies again and you don't use the item again then they lose those perks. Of course they give you enough of the item early in the game to revive your mercs once but after that your lucky if you get one. So if you wanna keep those perks then you have to buy the item which isn't cheap. You should not be punished if you die by permanently making you weaker unless you spend real money, wait 5 hours till you can you use your mercs again fine but this was very cheap. Typical pay to win game, I would've gladly paid $6 for the game without this BS. I was about to buy into the game with something to help and support the developer but once I was punished for dying I chose not to.

Great game but what about...

I used to have this game years ago before it was renamed, and I loved it! I recently tried to get it again but couldn’t find it under the old name and I was terrified that it was removed! I am so glad to have this game back! But I have a suggestion for gameplay features.

The ability to sell resources would be amazing when there is not enough room for resources and not enough credits to make anything. But I would understand if this might unbalance the game. Either way I would love to hear what you think!

X-com wanna bee

It’s really too bad because I figured with almost a 2 GB file size, it’s has to have some meat. It has a lot of potential but it’s trying too hard to be like X-com and now Mutant on consoles it has a long way to go. I have an iPad Pro, set everything to high and the graphics were just brighter, more solid. Too gamie, cartoonish, 90% of the characters script has to be read, poor map execution. I’m only 3 missions in but so not impressed. It needs a lot of polish, again it has potential, but misses the mark. I gave it 2 because I’m hoping they listen. I would rather see better graphics, better mechanics and pay. The base building is from Halo. It’s lacking personality. I deleted it. Too big of a file for bland. Sorry developers. I would rather have a polished original, new ideas, interactive maps which no one does and pay than have a free game. I know the market is hard, but this was a time development, not an thought invested game. Truly sorry for the harsh words. Maybe I’m a tough critique because your getting a 4.4 from most everyone else.

Amazing game

I loved this game a lot but there are some future updates to make. the game was amazing the player always had to stay alert in every mission. The game was action pack. In has every aspect of a good game but for some mission it was just ridiculous how many enemies there were and how hard they were to beat. I have completed the game so I know how hard all the mission are. The gap in equipment needed for missions was crazy. I would also like the creators to also add more to the story line. The story line is left on a somewhat cliffhanger. That I did not like I feel like every game should have an ending fitting to the story but the game was amazing and will grow even more in the near future.

Great promise but $$$ to play a real problem

Reminds me quite a bit of the early X-Com franchise, when I first downloaded this game I was really excited about it, but that enthusiasm has been short-lived. Some games are pay-to-play for an enhanced experience and some are as a requirement, and it's unfortunate that the developers of X-Mercs have decided to make this promising game the latter.

The game takes off fabulously, but within a week I found that the free play aspect of the game is fatally flawed, and I'll explain. The missions and quest completion will trickle out a few hundred cash units, while research, equipment purchases and equipment manufacturing requires several thousand cash units.

Additionally, the mission quest arcs transformed overnight from easily manageable missions to virtually unbeatable without rolling out soldiers that use top shelf equipment, which leads us back to the bottle-necked economy model.

I don't a bit of pay-to-play, but it does offend my sensibilities when developers are clearly presenting a money-grab product.

It's amazing to me how many genuinely good games eventually fall by the wayside, victims of the short-sightedness of not having a balanced free-to-play economy to feed to pay-to-play side of things. Only time will tell, but I suspect X-Mercs will eventually become another of those titles.

FTP X-Com-like

Though mercs of boom may have a bad name, but the presentation and gameplay are actually pretty solid. There arent many good turn based tactics games on mobile but this one does a good job of keeping things consistently fun. Like xcom, MOB is fully voiced which was a pleasant surprise. Combat is fun. Pulling off 1 shot kills when ducking into cover feels great. After a few hours my only real gripes are that the story is kinda bland and that its so similar to xcom that it lacks originality. With that said im still having a lot of fun with it.

Good but something happened

It is a very good game to play. Especially if you have no problem internet connection, but their are some problems.
The biggest one what’s when you updated, I lost all of my progress, I even just started to make the third armor you can make and was in the process of researching the spark guns.
The last one is that I preferred the previous name better.
But it’s still a good game.

Needs more work.

Loved the game initially. Seemed to be everything I was looking for. Then I hit lvl 14, and the game became almost instantly unfun, and borderline unplayable. Expedition success rates go from 95 percent to less then 25 for no reason. Difficulty ratings on boards means absolutely nothing. I can defeat a 5 skull board no problem, but a 1 skull board massacred my entire team in less then two turns, killing 2 men before I even got to move on the first turn of the board. Pvp pays squat in points, and zero cash. Not sure if it’s just a rough part in the game, so will give it a bit more time, but seriously guys, you need to fix this stuff.

Thank you for your legacy initiative! I wish I’d found this game sooner

This game popped up in my feed in MercsofBoom Store after your legacy initiative update. I do hope you do an update to this game and or release a new were version of some sort this game is awesome and I just wish I found it sooner! Thank you for having the legacy initiative program. it really speaks well of your company and it Introduced an awesome game to me that I would not have otherwise seen.

X Mercs to mercs of boom

X mercs: this was a difficult stage with extreme difficulty due to the fact credits are difficult to get your hands on and levels are extremely difficult those with mercs when it launched alright the pvp was fine but those players gained the best gear and then controlled the end level pvp

Mercs of boom: revamped game more of a completed game with
Good player conscent and amazing player satisfaction removeing most cooldown times and drastically lowering others so the games more enjoyable

Like the other game but worse

I was looking for a mobile game like Xcom, and this scratched the itch at first, but there isn’t as much depth and strategy to each mission, and the base building is pretty underwhelming. There are a lot of upgrades and all but they’re stuck behind paywalls and you need to grind a lot of these shallow missions to get the items needed to craft. And the characters are kind of out of place for a military company, I know they’re trying to be cool but they come off as fake and annoying talking heads. It’s a nice attempt but the game is too “wide” and not “deep” enough.

Impossible to beat without paying

This game was really fun until it became impossible to beat around level 20. I've tried countless strategies, but the only way to advance seems to be if I upgraded my gear, which would take >300k credits. To give perspective how long this would take, the average mission only gives 1k credits, so I would have to grind through 300 missions. There's a credit package that gives 450k credits but it costs $100!!! Obviously the developers didn't think this through and it's extremely disappointing that I won't be able to finish the game.

Great App!

This is one of the best looking games I've ever played on iOS and the turn based strategy is fun. The only negative things are the occasional long load times and difficulty spikes. Can't train newly hired mercenaries if the missions are too difficult. Overall a fun game.

Doesn’t work period

I’ve been trying to download the content after installing just so I can play the game and it keeps giving me server time outs. Was excited to play and probably even spend money on the game if it would work in the first place.
