At this point, I am extremely disappointed and wish I had not signed up for the trial period. I can’t get the system to read the PDF file I have without restarting from the beginning every few minutes. I’ve written for help and gotten no response. So I looked for the place to cancel the trial and can’t find one. I suspect this might be a good product if I could get some help, but right now it feels like a total rip off.
Pretty okay app Let’s you listen to websites, online books, etc plus the voices are nice
Problem is that it’s very expensive considering that you are paying a weekly subscription of $10 yet it only has a limit off 1 million words a month and charges you $40 to buy a million more or WebOutLoud stops working even though you are paying $10 a week. So it charges you $10 a week but if you listen to a book that’s 1 million words in one week WebOutLoud will stop working for the rest off the month unless you pay another $40 to buy another million words, however it still keeps charging you a weekly subscription.
Love this and it does a great job I use it to read books online that aren’t lucky enough to have an audio version.
The problems I have is that if it reads Tim’s it reads it as tim(aphas)(afes) and drops the plural and pronounces that weird aphes word it also reads “ as and(not end reads it as and) quote. So there are punctuation things that drive me crazy. And honesty it was doing this before but it always has issues with punctuation maybe this story has a lot of punctuation and plurals tbh at others haven’t had.
I use it I like it it gets 4 stars cause of adds and punctuation issues. The adds are infuriating to me but it is what it is.
This is my go-to reader in the few occasions I need a reader to read directly from the browser as exporting the page doesnt work for whatever non-related reason.
I would LOVE for an option for a built in adblock in the browser 🫠 i’m not talking about the “no ads” that are forced onto you by WebOutLoud - i bought the no ad plan - i’m talking about the browser ads placed by websites. 😩 i know there is reader mode that will get ride of the appearance of ads, but there are a handful of websites that reader mode is not very compatible with and the text gets skipped sometimes.
I got WebOutLoud a few years ago, when I was looking for an app to read my online books to me while I took long car rides for my job. I’ve always loved it, but recently, WebOutLoud has been skipping over words and resetting itself every time I click the pause button. I love the this app app, but if this continues I will probably have to find an app that doesn’t read my books out loud like cavemen.
Four stars for at least keeping my attention for more than a few years though
Update:
The issues with the ads and login have been resolved, no more problems there. Just the random lagging or stopping still occurs fairly often.
Thank u for all your hard work!

I’m paying for the annual basic subscription for no ads, however it has suddenly started giving me ads even though I have 2 months left. Don’t like that there is no place within WebOutLoud itself to review my subscription status/features, except for when an ad appears, there should be a dedicated option in the main menu where I can do this. Also reporting a problem through WebOutLoud requires logging in, but trying to log in causes an error. Also frequently having issues where the reader will just randomly stop reading.
OK, if this is what the update it’s unnecessary fixing problems I cannot understand but adding a folder for a new content I just confuses me even more having to go back-and-forth between each one if it’s possible could you fix that? I feel like I shouldn’t have to do unnecessary work just to save content.
I have referred so many people to WebOutLoud!, if you are thinking about getting WebOutLoud Stop thinking and just do it.
If you are new to reading or just want to do more reading this this app is a Blessing🙏/Life Saver🛟/Any good word to describe a great thing 😅.
I’m not disappointed in the least.
After the most recent update WebOutLoud has been randomly crashing while reading.
Otherwise I’ve been happily using WebOutLoud for about 2 years and I love the updates you’ve been making.
WebOutLoud is great and works well! Whether you have a learning disability, you’re a young reader, have a vision impairment, learning to read English, or just want to multitask, WebOutLoud it great! Last night I relaxed with my eyes closed while WebOutLoud read a scholarly article about neurotransmitters. It works fantastically. Seriously helpful. Highly recommend!
Seriously, if you’re an audiobook person who wants to listen to books that are publish on websites chapter by chapter like Wuxia World or Royal Road, WebOutLoud is hands down the BEST THING EVER! Especially if you don’t have the time to actually read those chapters. It helps makes chores a lot less mind numbingly boring.
I have tried a lot of different apps to read with Pages but this one is the best I have tried. If the story I’m reading has more than one page I don’t have to copy and paste to the next page on the appI can go to the next page on.I highly recommend WebOutLoud for anybody that drives and wants to read webpages stories, articles.
This is my second app I tried for out loud reading because I love reading novels but I’m at work and need to use my hands to work and so far WebOutLoud is fast easy to use and you can turn pages when you copy the website and past from the web because some out loud reading apps don’t have that feature with is a must because you don’t want to keep copying and pasting from the website because you can’t turn to the next page.
My problem with speechify is that I couldn’t look up words I didn’t know due to the way speechify imports it’s text. The extension for WebOutLoud fixes that. As a Japanese learner. I can seamlessly use my pop up dictionary extension in combination with text to speech. And it’s frank the best experience ever.
I’ve tried other paid text to speech apps and by far this one is my favorite! Not just because of WebOutLoud ’s functionality but also WebOutLoud developers customer service. They are very responsive to inquiries and suggestions on ways to improve their product. Well worth the price. I’m extremely pleased.
I asked for an iTunes gift card just to subscribe for a year. I’ve been using the free version for over a year. What I like is that the ads were ads to promote his other apps instead of other predatory products! And that they only popped up if I gave another app focus. It 100% got rid of my need for audiobooks. I use WebOutLoud and the library.
I study online, and it is much better for me to listen to a book than read on an e-reader. I have tried various apps/extensions and this is by far the best.
+ Being able to listen to the text directly without opening it in a separate view is super helpful, as it doesn’t remove anything.
+ I love that I can select the text to be read, or I can let WebOutLoud read the entire visible page.
+ My favorite aspect: background listening! I can take notes in a different app as I listen, or I can close my phone and listen as I take a walk or ride my bike. This is a feature that - surprisingly - is missing in many other apps.
Thanks for such a great product!
I downloaded every app of this type when I discovered this functionality. Web Out Loud is simply the best of breed. So easy to use, I load up a few articles and play them back while running.
There are others with better feature sets, but outrageous prices. While others simply don’t get it done as quickly and cleanly. The Darwinian experiment ended up with me going back to WOL over and over.
It’s all I use now. Highly recommended.
This program has save me so much time energy and frustration. I can’t count how many times that just having it read it to me while I’m getting sorted in the paper I’m preparing has been tremendous help. I recommend this program to anyone who needs to write a paper or just needs information quickly because somebody else reading it to you get it done faster. It is also very simple and easy to use, very intuitive I recommend it to everyone.
I have a commute of over an hour a couple time every week, through a 20minute dead zone. I also have an obsession with fan fiction. WebOutLoud means I can listen to to a story while I drive. WebOutLoud highlights the paragraph I’m on and does not make me start over every time I open WebOutLoud . My only wish is that it was capable of more than one tab, so I can have a second story ready if I finish the first.
