I love the Washington Examiner’s content, and they fixed my previous problem with pop-up videos in WashingtonExaminer . However I still would like 2 fixes on the technical side:

The first: even though video advertisements no longer pop-up intrusively, they still play automatically where they’re imbedded in the page while I’m reading the article. This causes unnecessary data usage because of loading videos without me asking for them, and it also automatically cuts off whatever music I’m listening to when I clicked on the story. This makes it a pain to use WashingtonExaminer while I work out. Once I pause the video, it takes over as whatever was last playing, so when I try to “un-pause” my music, it just plays the video ad again.

Second, (this started happening within the last 2-3 weeks). WashingtonExaminer seems to completely freeze randomly (but does not force quit itself/crash). The interesting thing here is even when I hit menu and leave WashingtonExaminer , when I come back it’s frozen the same way and even if I force quit WashingtonExaminer 1-2 times, when I re-open it, it’s frozen the same way it was before, on the same spot in an article, etc. this may be some sort of bug. I am running iOS 11.3.1 - the most recent OS at this time.

I just want to say WashingtonExaminer has progressed a lot and is much more enjoyable, the content is great and it no longer heats up my phone. I think some screenshots of the new version would be in order to update WashingtonExaminer Store listing.

My prayer for you and all you traitors in congress. God i pray that everytime one of these traitors closes their eyes or sees a little child at play they recall video of every little child running for their lives in Kabul to avoid being captured, raped and beheaded! I pray they are mercilessly tortured for their cowardess actions or lack there of and that you are relentless in your efforts to never ever allow these kind of people to have any say in what takes place in American government OR success of any kind ever again! I pray that you strip them of all the bounty they gained by capitulation and I pray for firing squads for all traitors who had months to handle this situation correctly but were too busy trying to make it difficult for good men to try! I have evil in my heart dear God for these greedy monsters and i pray that one day i can look back on this day and pray that you can forgive me for my own complacency in not fighting harder for good men to do the right thing!

UPDATE: SAME PROBLEMS STILL EXIST!!!

WashingtonExaminer still sucketh mightily!! Seriously, there is an overwhelming amount of negative feedback, but the problems still subsist. The lack of concern on behalf of the WAEX is equally aggravating. They are not reading the reviews, or they just flat out don’t care, whichever it is, it amounts to a complete lack of concern and forethought for the readers, and that is insulting. Therefore, I have dropped my previous rating of 2 stars down to 1. If the content itself we’re not worth reading, I would drop it to zero. However, if you continue to ignore the concerns of your readers regarding these problems, I will delete it. There are many other very good and better solid news sources available to choose from.

WashingtonExaminer is one of the most frustrating I have ever used. The ads are interrupting my read by freezing up, or causing the story to skip, sometimes having to close out WashingtonExaminer altogether. If I lose the article I cannot go back to it, I have to scroll through every article to find the one I was reading. Seriously annoying. The content is good, but WashingtonExaminer , not so much.

Ever sincethe last update, reading stories has become difficult as the page locks up. I cannot scroll or do anything. I have to close and reopen WashingtonExaminer at least 3 times to clear it. I did enjoy reading it.

There seems to be no logic in the order in which the articles are put together other than some broad random groupings. Items are grouped in many different groupings and once you leave a page to go read an article you can’t get back to where you started which is really annoying.
Great content, really really bad flow. Not user-friendly. It is suspicious that it’s been two years since your last update which means you don’t actually care?

-Wotethless app with horrible user experience! Two similar but different site navigations in almost the same spot, crashes multiple times daily on iPhone, after reading an article app takes you back to top of home page instead of where you click link to read article, article titles listed multiple time under different subjects on main page and on and on. App needs a total redesign!

WashingtonExaminer was re-designed a couple of years ago and the programmers did a crappy job. The floating ads made it almost impossible to read an article. Then, after months of crappy app performance, it hit better. Today, the high schoolers are back. The ads prevent completion of an article. I have to restart WashingtonExaminer over and over. You guys are waaaayyyy too concerned about ads and not nearly enough focused on readers. YOU’RE FIRED!

It is important to note that the Washington Examiner is the most truthful conservative source out there! It is the least biased and most straightforward conservative source for news. It prints the least untruths among all the others.
It truly is the NYT of right leaning news.

I downloaded this and deleted it in less than an hour. I’m not a huge fan of website shells. They’re worse when the website breaks WashingtonExaminer . I watched ads try to launch repeatedly and then the WashingtonExaminer became unresponsive. After several times it was time to delete WashingtonExaminer . Most news organizations are becoming clickbait. When it breaks your app I’m done.

Articles are nicely presented but WashingtonExaminer crashes constantly. Also the pull down menus don’t function consistently- there are usually two sets of them on most pages for no reason. They offer a newer version of WashingtonExaminer (not just an update) so skip this one.

Are moronic. Just keep things in perspective and deal with unfortunate bugs like a man. All apps are riddled with them whether you see them or not.

I really love the coverage of the Washington Examiner, but WashingtonExaminer is not the way to get your news in iOS 11. I don’t know if they are properly supporting WashingtonExaminer or if they even know that it is such a piece of crap, but someone needs to take their job seriously. If asked, it works beautifully, notwithstanding the annoying advertisements for merchandise and websites being pushed by complete shysters.

Didn’t have any problems like the other reviewers, I’m guessing problems with advertising can be addressed remotely without updating WashingtonExaminer itself.

Correct me if I’m wrong but WashingtonExaminer should not close unexpectedly and repeatedly during use. Navigation is also poor - can’t get back to homepage without clunky machinations. It’s unfortunate because the content is good but what’s the point if you can’t enjoy it because WashingtonExaminer blows?

WashingtonExaminer crashes constantly. After scrolling just a bit, I get this black page “advertisement” with a “continue scrolling” message. No matter how much you scroll the black page doesn’t go away. Once you open a story you can’t go back to where you were.
You have great content but very sucky App experience!

A news app is only as good as its interface.
Too many pop ups. Every time I read an article I would like to go back to where I left off and not all the way back to the main screen. Needs to be setup for easy use like Fox News app

I love the Washington Examiner newsmagazine, but WashingtonExaminer is horrible. Anytime I try to login it gives me an error so I’m stuck trying to read some daily articles while dodging ads and videos that pop up. This is also a problem doing so from a straight phone browser. Get this fixed. Some of us are paying for it.

I thoroughly enjoy WE’s reports and opinion pieces. However, I am frustrated by the constant mal pop ads and being redirected to unwanted ads. Reported malware but see no effort to correct.

It's hard for me to belive that a major media outlet would have such a horrifyingly bad app. It mostly doesn't open, and when it does it suffers from an awful user interface. I love the newspaper's content, it just can't be accessed via WashingtonExaminer . Management should consider making a few key developer app hires from the WSJ. That app is wonderful.

I love the content of The Washington Examiner, but don’t bother with WashingtonExaminer . Flow is awful, can’t even login, ads pop up, and menus are empty. Cannot go back after clicking on an article. And, as mentioned by someone else, the developer clearly does not care; last update was two years ago. Do read content online; DO NOT bother with WashingtonExaminer.

Articles load too slowly. WashingtonExaminer crashes too often. And I echo others' complaints about auto-play videos.

When you are reading a story, random videos (ads) take over the entire screen. If you close them they come right back. If you wait they flip off, the screen goes back to the story, then the videos appear again. It is completely random. It is maddening. WashingtonExaminer is now deleted.

Don’t waste your time. Bad design. “Blinks” all the time. Takes you to random links. Click and you don’t know where it will take you. Makes me doubt the seriousness of WE as a news source. If you can’t design an app that works well, I am gone. I’ll find another source for my news. I had high hopes but utter disappointment.

Seriously guys? This is WashingtonExaminer that you give to the public? You can’t close articles. You always have to go back to the index and then you’re ina different place. They constantly move all over the place. Sheer crap.
