Kitchen Scramble: Cooking Game Reviews

This review says more about need than the game. I have been playing this for two or three years now. The game is fun but it's terrible. The supplies take too long to refresh, the game is obviously fixed on several levels et I will pay money for the ridiculously expensive cash. As FD at as the fixing, there are levels that require certain dishes to be served. Say you need to serve 4 shrimp. You play the whole level but no one will request the shrimp. So now you've wasted super expensive supplies. Also, the game requires you to make so much on each level. Yet the dish prices are fixed and you can't make that amount without buying cash to purchase select premium ingredients. Even if you do the next time you play the level. o one I'll request the dish with that ingredient. Now let's talk about crashing. The game crashes CONSTANTLY. and not just any crash. It crashes after you hit play on a level. This means you have lost supplies and any premium ingredient you paid for for that level. I've been refunded so many times it's dumb. Yet I still play. The watch and earn is a joke. There are never videos available. It works maybe once a month. Just greedy creators. I've decided. Yet I still play. Update: I finally uninstalled and found several similar games that are more stable and don't require so much cash to pass levels. Still love the game but I felt more like I was being conned than enjoying the two hours of rest I get a day.

I’ve been playing this game for years and never once spent money on it the first 2-3 years playing.. I am a skilled player and got a new phone and had to start all over and have finally realized I had to pay real money to actually beat levels. Here in the past 2-3 months (with at least 1-2 updates) this game is freezing up at the beginning of the game(ATLEAST 30 seconds.. just sitting WAITING, And not for an ad!!) I am a committed player and always go back to this game bc of the good graphics, but after reading the recent reviews (because I am always looking to see if you guys update) I see crappy reviews that have the same frustration as me. Spending MY REAL HARD EARNED MONEY on a game that strings you along.. people rarely ever order the items you need.. if they do, not enough coins to gain a star. I’ll keep playing, but I won’t spend any more real money until you guys make this game practical.. and another thing, I’ve spent “25 dollars” to skip a level by accident. Hard earned money that is taken immediately if I accidentally touch my phone in the wrong spot. Recommend asking “are you sure” for that certain purchase. I NEVER DO REVIEWS.. but this game needed my say so! Correct your problems bc I won’t be spending any more money on this “FREE” game 🙄🙄🙄

I’ve been playing this game for years - and overall I love it. I’ve never had to spend real money on it.

However, it is by far the glitchiest app I’ve ever used. Sometimes it will just freeze mid-level, where you no longer can move so you’re forced to watch all of your food burn and your customers get mad and leave. Plus when that happens, you are wasting any premium ingredients, supplies, and power ups you paid for on that level. Other times, the game is fine, but the functionality of one of the appliances stops working. You might be cooking something in the pot, and then the food suddenly disappears, and you can no longer click on the pot at all. You might be able to cook other foods, but if any of the customers are looking for dishes that require the pot, you have to let them leave.

Also agree with the other review that you have to be super careful not to accidentally select to spend “dollars” on extra customers or skipping a level, because there is no “are you sure?” page. Those buttons are placed right next to the ones you plan on clicking, so you’re often cheated out of the “dollars” that you earned, which is really frustrating.

I was happy to see that they lowered the amount of supplies required for levels a while back. But I’ve noticed that they got rid of the “offers” you can complete to earn in-game cash. You used to be able to go to an “earn cash” section and there was a list of offers- mostly downloading other games or joining a mailing list. I always used this to get enough cash to buy tokens for the token gate and I actually ended up discovering other fun games through this. I’m really disappointed that they got rid of this, because it’s made the game unplayable. I’ve done the math and the only way to earn enough for the token gate without spending any real life money will take you about a month. Once you get the higher up levels, it’s super hard to pass levels- let alone earn more than 1 star (equating to one token). Without fail, I’ve had about 30 tokens each time I reach the gate for the last year or so. Most token gates require 100+ tokens. The best you can do is complete quests which only get you a max of 9 tokens every couple of days and honestly, I’m just not invested enough to spend all that time. I really don’t understand why they did away with the offers. I’d assume it was making them decent ad revenue, and I can’t imagine that there are very many people who are actually spending real money in the game given how expensive it is.

I’ve had this game for YEARS and it’s honestly the only game I keep coming back to. Yes it’s challenging, yes there are times when you can’t make it past a certain level for days, but that’s what makes it fun! Everyone posting 1 Star ratings because they think you need “real money” to get through the game is just impatient and bad at strategy games. Like I said, I’ve had this game for years, I’m over level 1000, and I haven’t spent ONE PENNY on this game. The developers made an awesome decision by allowing us to watch videos for supplies/cash/ingredients and implementing the “quest feature” which EASILY can get you extra supplies, tokens, and level boosters. You really have to be strategic with this game which I LOVE. Every other cooking game in KitchenScramble Store is like it was designed for children and they get boring super fast. I love the graphics in this game and the attention to detail the designers used, there is literally no other game out there like this. To the developers: PLEASE MAKE MORE GAMES LIKE THIS. I would love to play anything made by y’all that follow this format. And to anyone out there that likes puzzles and strategy games: I HIGHLY recommend Kitchen Scramble.

I’m a daily player on level 526, I had been playing by myself, until I thought connecting to Facebook to have friends and be able to send/receive gifts would be better. I did receive gifts a couple of times it even said “you have reached the gifts limit” but now I don’t receive any gifts my friends send me,I get requests from my friends, I send requests , but no gifts back. Thinking that deleting the game and reinstalling it back would solve the problem, I did so, just to find out that my bills that I had been saving for days are all gone!!! I had 15, it went to 0, all my boosters are gone too, I had a lot of golden spatulas and dishes, now they are gone. I play every to complete the tasks and get rewards. But it’s soo upsetting that they disappeared, I contacted you through the game via email and all what I was told, to sign out and in again from Facebook and that would solve the problem, I did, just to find out, that all my progress is lost and I have to start since the beginning, I hope this can be fixed, because I love the game

I have been playing this game for years and I love it! I love the graphics and I love that I get to exercise my memory with remembering the dishes. I've never needed to spend real money on this game because this game gives plenty of opportunity to earn cash and whatever you need to get premium appliances and ingredients and you can go through the levels pretty easily. There are some challenging levels too which makes the game fun. The downside to this game is there are many glitches. I have the most updated version (it won't allow you to play without updating it). Sometimes when I'm playing a level, KitchenScramble will freeze up and exit me out of KitchenScramble without saving my progress and it takes the supplies and ingredients I used away. Sometimes it glitches so bad it will cause meals to burn on it's own. The ads will also cause it to glitch and exit out KitchenScramble . The worse thing about it all is that I can't even link my progress to Facebook so that I can use a different device. I'm so far in this game and I would hate to have to start over like I have done once before, it was the worst! Please at least allow me a way to link my progress! Thanks!

Why? Because it is ridiculous to have sets of 25 levels, each level only allowing you to collect 1-3 tokens, and then require 110 tokens after each set of levels. Again, why? Because even if you get a 3-star rating on each level, which is pretty much impossible once you get in the high hundreds level, it only equals SEVENTY-FIVE tokens. And yeah, I’m aware there’s “goals” to gain anywhere from 10-25 tokens but even the ones that only give you 10 tokens for beating take FOR. EV. ER. At one “restaurant” to win 25 tokens I had to make 250 gingerbread men. The level I found where I was most likely to even make them at all (though it was still no guarantee) allowed me to make 1-5 every time I played. ONE TO FIVE AND I NEEDED 250. Add that to the fact that this game takes lives away every time you play instead of just every time you fail a level and you can understand why this is ridiculous. I love this game, but I don’t want to spend a year of my life just trying to earn tokens so that I can get to the next set of 25 levels after beating the 25 prior. It makes me hate how much I love playing it. And as many complaints as I’ve read about this you’d think the creators would’ve made it more manageable by now.

I’ve played kitchen scramble for about 2 years and every time I play I find more reasons to dislike it. I’ve never played a game that is so blatantly trying to screw you up. Last night I completed some offers to get some cash to upgrade my appliances, and now that I’ve done that, the customers’ patience is way shorter and I lose them more frequently. Um, I thought premium appliances were supposed to be a good thing? Also, more often than not, if you choose to use a premium ingredient, NO ONE orders things that include the ingredient!!!! They’re supposed to help you make more money, but instead you waste your premium ingredient for nothing. Additionally I’ve noticed that if you prepare the wrong dish and keep it in the holding tray, no one will order that. However as soon as you throw it out, what’s the next order that pops up? The dang item you just threw out. Honestly I’ll probably never stop playing KS because I’m so deep in it, but this is one of the worst games I’ve ever played in terms of how it goes out of its way to screw you over

Ignore the naysayers. You do not need to spend any money unless you are impatient. I have never spent a dime, but always have an excess of 400+ supplies. Why? Because I figured out how to play the game. This is a strategy game, and it is tough. Everyone is so used to playing easy games that they don’t know how to deal with a game that actually challenges you. Our society has become such an immediate satisfaction culture that people don’t know how to appreciate something that makes you work for that satisfaction. Doesn’t anyone remember before you could buy game enhancers that we’d spend days working on one level in a video game trying to pass it and oh the satisfaction when we finally did?

A few hints:
-ALWAYS play the quests. You get tons of supplies just for playing one quest level and better rewards if you complete the quest.
-Watch the videos that get you free stuff.
-Spend your money that you earn strategically on supplies that will increase and speed up your output OR will keep customers patient (the coffee, witches brew, etc).
-Unless you are in a exit door round, serve customers with more stars first.
-Practice (FOR FREE) before starting a round, so that you are a master of the recipes prior to spending your precious supplies.

Complaint: I wish the game came with better instructions so I didn’t have to figure this all out on my own. I also wish we knew the price of dishes. It is hard to pay attention to the coins we get when in the midst of game play.

Everything people are reporting in their reviews is right on point. It’s designed to make you want to spend money on upgrades and supplies bc otherwise you’ll just be playing for s LONG time playing 5 games at a time. It’s a great game but it’s also designed to grab more of your money as In the following example: I just played the same level 5 times in a row and I keep getting to just 50 points under the amount needed to progress to the next level. What happens is that the customers’ hearts all of the sudden start to decline MUCH more rapidly than any other point in the game. Also, KitchenScramble will sometimes take your money and not give you what you paid for. All in all, it’s a really fun game but the developers are sneaky and so I’m not going to hang on to it albeit playing for the better part of a year pretty consistently. I tried the developer’s other games and they are pretty crappy too. I say move along if you want to save frustration and that has nothing to do with any inability to delay gratification.

The only reason there are good reviews is bc it had potential as it is a fun game. But the developers are greedy and as you. Am see from years of exactly the same review as mine: they don’t really care.

Ok here is my review first of all, thank you for reading this and second let’s just get into it. I used to love this game it was really fun to play but it always has me get updates that take up more storage and also don’t change the game at all. Like what is even the point. Also this game literally does not load, now matter how many bars of cellular or WiFi that I have. It starts playing the music like the game is starting but stays in the loading screen and I wait for it but it never loads. Another reason why I think that getting the updates are stupid because you can’t even play the game. And I’ve almost accidentally spent money, because there are so many things that pop up asking you to spend money on rejoining a round! For $20 you can rejoin a round when really you can just start the round over and try again. Some of my friends that have KitchenScramble have accidentally spent money for a “free” rejoin. KitchenScramble is supposed to be free anyway but they try to make money off of it for stupid things. Anyways that’s all i have to say about KitchenScramble, I hope that you can avoid these things if you can.

You’d think with how long this game has been out that these glitches on early levels would be fixed. I’ve been playing for years and there’s the exact same issues.
The section goals won’t save half your progress. I was keeping track of how many customers I had. I finished a level and went back to check and it said I served 200 less customers than last time I checked.
The “daily” challenges reset basically every 3 days not daily. If scrolling between locations there’s times where no matter which way you scroll you can’t see levels. It just will jump from 225 to 228. Not letting me see 6 or 7 unless I shut down KitchenScramble and restart.
There is a huge lag as you scroll through.
Love the game (obviously why I’ve been playing for so long) but these glitches make me stop playing every couple months. There’s no reason these shouldn’t be fixed yet. I’m in the 4th town and can’t get the customer goal because it takes them away randomly

I have had this game for a while and even though it’s fun to play - unless you’re looking for a disappointment don’t download it.

This game has so many crashes and bugs- and they are rarely connected. I have been in contact with the game creators and every time I advise them it’s not working they ask a trail of questions that leads no where and then they ask for me to send over details from screens within the game- which I can’t access because the game will LITERALLY NOT OPEN. When I advise them of this they basically say “we’re stumped and we will work on this in the mean time play on Facebook” which is not accessible via mobile phone. I have also purchased cling packs and credits through this game - all pointless since it won’t open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times it’s crazy and have about 50 emails back and forth with support. It’s a very fun game but not worth the time to get in functioning and only really being able to play it about 2 months out of the whole year.

Save your self the frustration, disappointment and headache - don’t download ANY games form this company. Thanks RockYou games - for nothing and bad customer support.

I’ve been trying to download this game for awhile, game made me download the updated version of it and now the levels start before the loading screen is gone, and I can’t get a fair start, I’ve lost many levels because the game loads incorrectly and I can’t see the customers because of the loading screen! Before it would load quickly and I would get 3 stars every time. Also, why 24 hours at the maintenance thing? Can’t you use coins or tickets to pass? Also, you should get 7 groceries every 10 minutes, not just one every 5! Infuriating for people who have absolutely nothing to do all day like me, I guess I’ll have a lot more nothing now that it won’t load. I feel like I had a good version that was replaced with a version full of bugs , worked fine. I didn’t want to download something new but had no choice, ugh, game developers should fix this. I know it’s not my phone because my phone is brand new!

This is probably one of my favorite apps of all time, out of all the cooking games on KitchenScramble Store this one seems to be of the highest quality and has the best game play. I will say however that the game needs obvious bug fixes, it takes much too long to load and seems to be out of date in that sense. Additionally the game has a ton of levels, but the timing of supplies gives players about five levels before you have to wait an hour to play, making it nearly impossible to play through even half of the towns without forgetting about the game while you’re waiting. I really wish the company would focus more on advertising power boosts and other elements of the game for revenue so that the timing of supplies could be reduced or even eliminated. I feel like they’d probably make more money that way too, I feel like someone is less likely to pay to play, than they are to pay to play better.

I love love this game, but it has some flaws that I wish can be fixed by the next update. I play as soon as my supplies are full and sometimes I don't even wait. I also spend money on this game. When I enter the game, it goes dark, like frozen where u can't do anything, then it works. On my husbands account, it works immediately after its loaded. Then when I go to claim my gifts on my iPad, most of the time the game doesn't give me my supplies. On any even day, I loose about 10-15 supplies. Then when I'm in the middle of playing, it goes slow and fill of glitches. I cannot play like that. And at this moment, I'm unable to play because it ls frozen. Finally, I would also like to know why I don't see all my request like gifts on my iPad that I see on my laptop. I hope you can get back to me or fix my issues. Thank you. I'll be checking back.

I used to love this game but like other apps, with time it’s become more about getting players’ money. I’m pretty sure the level 2 items are much more expensive than they were before. I had to start over bc I’m on a whole new account so I was able to see some differences. The customers lose their patience much faster and everything takes longer to make food which obviously makes it hard to serve customers with 5 hearts. By the time I even get the food item to an appliance to start making it, the customer is down a heart. It definitely wasn’t like this before because I would not have played it so much, nor would I have bothered to re-downloaded it. There also weren’t any ads before but I guess I understand those. However, if I’m gonna be forced to sit through a video, it seems like I could at least get some kind of in-game currency. I wish this game would go back to normal but I also wish they would give more supplies or just kinda do away with that limitation.

This is my favorite kitchen/service game. It works and runs smoothly and i love the animation. I dont mind having to wait for supplies to replenish before i get to play more levels. But i wish it was way easier/more feasible to get bucks in order to upgrade materials or get tokens. I would watch ads all day if i could get a few bucks for watching an add. The current "earn free bucks" thing does not work except for earning one buck for clicking an ad. The actual dollar cost for buy ingame upgrade bucks is ridiculous. I really wonder how many people spend the money to buy upgrade bucks because its way higher than the ratio that other games offer that i have actually purchased or considered purchasing. I wont even consider it in this game. Please make it easier to earn more bucks faster so that the items can be upgraded. It would make the game 10x more enjoyable.

Kitchen Scramble is an great game with so much potential to be incredible if they could just fix these bugs. Over the last few months I’ve played kitchen scramble, i noticed that after i got past a certain location or level the game became slower and began to freeze a lot more. There was a time i had to restart my entire game because i couldn’t even get on the game, it sat on the loading screen for hours. But now after passing the chef academy location, my game would constantly say that i had network issues when i never did and it wouldn’t save progress! there was a day i had did 7 levels but once i exited KitchenScramble and came back later, the 7 levels i had completed were not completed! i love kitchen and scramble and enjoy playing but my patience is running thin with the game. it would be a tragedy for me to delete the game because i enjoy it so much.

Been playing this game for years. The new update has made the game un-playable. It is very laggy and is so inconsistent with how it works. You used to be able to click ingredients and if you select more than you can hold, it would replace it with the oldest one in your hand. Now it keeps the first ingredient permanent unless you go put it back. It’s also impossible to pick things back up from appliances if wrong thing is added.
The most frustrating part, contrary to my previous sentence, is sometimes when you go to place items to complete a refuse it will do it as normal and start cooking. Other times it picks up what you’ve already put there and then nothing happens!!
In general now, the character moves slow, you cannot move her somewhere to wait for a dish to be ready until it’s ready, everything burns quicker and sometimes even sporadically.

Not a fan of the new graphics but I can deal with that. I can’t believe so many aspects of the functionality of the game were ruined with this update. Not even worth playing anymore and won’t unless these are fixed and soon.
