Ordered a movie on my Roku tv last night and payed $5.99 for it. From what I see movie belongs to fandango now and I never got the play movie option. Checked my bank statement and of course I got charged for the movie. I also got the confirmation email from Roku for the purchase. Still no movie to watch. Called the customer service and no one picked up. Left them a message on social media and no one bothered to answer. At this point I’m not sure where to go and who to ask for my refund. I’m working all day today so I’m not sure if the play option is available now since you can watch the movie for 48 hours but that’s not the point because I wanted to watch it last night and not whenever fandango thinks it’s ok to allow it to stream. This hasn’t happened before so I won’t give it a 1 star but overall I think I will avoid ordering movie from fandango so I don’t experience this again.
A total zero (wouldn’t allow me to give zero stars)
Tried to rent Jumanji last Saturday. App stated that it did not load due to an error. They have no support line so they said email what your problem is and we’ll get back to you within 72 hours. By Tuesday I received an email saying that they were so busy they haven’t had a chance to look at my problem and said for me to remain if I still had the problem. Of course I STILL HAD NO MOVIE. Now having to face yet another 72hour wait I went right to my credit card company and protested the payment. They agreed with me. Incidentally I got an email back from them (yes 72 hours later) saying they did not understand the problem and I was to finally call somebody. What don’t you understand I didn’t get the movie? Apparently the credit card company did and refunded my money. I can’t believe they would put out an app with so many bugs.
Half a star wasn’t available...
Never have I ever been so disappointed in a video streaming service. As I write this review I am still on hold with their call center. The video that I rented would not play properly and I have to keep casting to my tv over and over (essentially I am watching the movie in increments). I no longer have the option to download the movie because I started streaming and I don’t even have the option to watch the film on my iPad now. This is beyond disappointing, will be sticking with Redbox. It is unfortunate that I am still on hold as I come to the end of my review and having to recast my movie on the television once again. This service will never receive another penny from me, after my movie rentals are up I will be deleting this account and pretending they don’t exist...just like there customer service.
Playback is painful
Tried to play a movie I rented. Instead of playing it asked me to turn on cellular data. It wouldn’t play without it even though I was on WiFi. When I tried streaming it asked me if I was sure, it would disable downloading. I thought I would try downloading so I could use both. The download was super slow so I tried streaming but it turned out it disabled streaming. Now I can’t play my movie tonight. The play button should just work without me needing to change the default settings. Also don’t disable streaming. No other movie rental platform makes it this hard to play a rental. I would not recommend this service, try something different.
User friendliness? No.
This app is not user friendly at all. It doesn’t let you download any movies onto your phone. Where it’s supposed to say download it says “$ how do I watch this?” In that tab it says purchases are not available on this device which is fine but I bought a movie on my Roku with this app and now I’m trying to download it on my phone. It still says that purchases are not available on my device even though I already own the movie. I was able to do it on my old phone but now it’s not letting me even though my phone is a newer model. This is just ridiculous. I’ve looked up online including the fandango now website but nothing. I hope that I get a response from a developer.
Save your money. You’ve been warned.
First time customer: Purchased a rental movie. Watched half of it (it states you have a multiple day period to watch). Movie didn't work, and disappeared from my library. Manually looked up movie and it stated I had plenty of time to finish. Tried to play the movie. Movie did not play, received playback error. Emailed customer service. Customer service took over 24 hours to respond - on a weekday. Customer service said I should call them. Called customer service. On hold with customer service for 90 mins. Get hung up on without speaking to customer service. Guys - don't waste your time. Fandango has always been, and will continue to be the movie equivalent of con artists.
I have only one movie through this company, & that’s the way it will stay. Went through 3 downloads & deletions to finally get a movie that didn’t halt halfway through! Now, the majority of the times we attempt to watch, we get a “playback error” because it’s “not connected to the internet”—no, duh! That’s why we downloaded it instead of streamed! The internet infrastructure is worthless in my rural “neighbor” hood, I don’t need apps that have a conniption because they can’t spy on everything we do here. If you want to spy on me, move to the next hill over, or invest in satellite. Only wound up here because of my Blu-Ray digital copy, think I’m going to quit wasting money on them & just buy straight from iTunes.
No In-app purchase on iOS devise! Really??!!
On iOS devices, you can browse content but that’s about it. What’s the point, if you can’t purchase content on the app! If you want to purchase, you have to use a browser app to purchase content that can be viewed on the FandangoNow app. This app is a horrible solution overall and, basically, a waste of time for iOS users — if I have to use the website, why would I come back to the app! (And ‘Yes’, once you purchase the movie on the FandangoNow website, you can watch it in the app). This is such a clunky solution for iOS users, it’s basically worth paying the extra couple of dollars for a true seamless experience on cable!
DO NOT USE
We got a gift card for Christmas and were very excited to use this service. We have a google chromecast device that the app says it works with, but it didn’t. Ever. It works fine with every other app we use but of course, not with this app. Then I went to get my iPad which we sometimes use for streaming and downloaded the app on that. Guess what!? It worked!!! Oh wait, not it didn’t. We sat and watched it load for over 30 mins only to play LITERALLY 0:01 of the movie. We have 120mbps internet and that apparently isn’t fast enough. Absolutely horrific. Oh and if you want to speak to customer service, forget it. DO NOT USE!!!
I would have rated this app at zero stars if it was an available option. I created an account with the app, but the account won’t work on the internet browser part which is needed to download the movies to the app. I created another account using a different email address and it does not work on the app. There is a disconnect between the internet browser and the app. I have tried Safari and Chrome. Both have to work in order to watch the programs. I have tried calling the phone help and have requested internet and their solution to reset the password did not work either.
Wastes your time, takes your money, does not work
I was pulled in by a $2 off coupon. It took my money, and an hour of my life downloading apps and trying to troubleshoot and waiting for customer service to pick up. They never did. They guaranteed a response by email in 72 hours. Four days later I got a form letter saying they were too busy to read my email. I never got my $3.99 refund. It’s not a lot of money, but who wants this waste of their time and money? My complaint was their app did not work on a Samsung TV to stream my purchase. Your TV might be different, but no element of my experience gave me hope.
Not good for the deaf and hard of hearing
When viewing a movie I have purchased I always use closed captions. I am deaf in one ear and only have about 20% in the other. I do wear a hearing aid. When using airplay to my Apple TV, the image and audio is sent to the TV but the closed captions remain on my iPhone or iPad, making it unwatchable for me. I contacted them about this and they promptly replied it was being sent up the chain to corporate and I should expect an answer in 5-7 business days. We are now beyond that and I haven’t heard anything. There are numerous laws requiring closed captions. Apparently Fandango doesn’t think they apply to them.
Do Not purchase anything from FandangoNow!
I bought infinity war from them and downloaded it to my iPad so I could watch on road trips. I had watched it once before and it worked fine but the next trip I take, I try playing the main movie and it says I’m not authorized but I could watch any extras with no problem. I called in to customer support and they tell me they will create a ticket and will reach out to me in 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS!!! A LOT OF GOOD THAT DOES ME! I will never buy another movie from them again. Save yourself the headache and just buy from a more reliable streaming service, I wish I would have
This app is a pain
I originally downloaded it since I buy a lot of movie tickets through the Fandango app which is great. I claimed all my rewards for Fandango now . The problem is that the app is bad, you can’t purchase content only watch it. Pointless, kinda like when you’re on a shared network and you have to go to your computer and put a file so you can watch it in your phone. Play features are mediocre, even if my phone is not on low power settings the video playing restarts when switching between apps.
Great app but one little problem
There is only one flaw in this app. When I start skipping some parts in my movies the screen goes black and starts the movie over can you fix this problem or tell me how to handle it I really like this app. Also iTunes has a certain screen widened for the iPhone X but the screen for this app is smaller for me. Can you fix this problem
