Dust - a safer place to text Reviews

Glad to see this private messenger back at it. Loving the new look and where it’s heading, but would like to see a couple other features. A fingerprint/facial recognition login would be top of my list. Other than that, the user experience is great and it flows well. Security being it’s purpose, they seem to have all of that covered. Over all, love it and can’t wait to see how it evolves.

I'd say there's no reason to use this unless you want the free cryptocurrency which may rise in value if Dust becomes popular. It lacks many of the features you'd come to expect, and it's buggy as hell.

Other open source apps also have the same privacy protections, but none of these "privacy" texting apps can stop someone from simply video recording the conversation. Names are not displayed on the chat screen, but they are displayed elsewhere. It's easy to get a camera and use that video as proof.

Privacy is only as good as the people in the conversation. If they want to release your secrets, no app can protect from that.

Personally, I don’t care about Dust being buggy, as it’s really easy to use and it keeps my private messages private. I’m not a huge fan of the colour scheme and the lack of features isn’t super great but I prefer it over mainstream security apps which tend to get really bad press. I like Dust because it allows me to chat with people I know personally in a private and secure manner. That’s all I need Dust for, which is why I’m willing to ignore the downsides and keep using this, although I’d like to see some changes in the future in regards to the downsides.

Took a good app and turned it into a joke. A private messaging app that was subtle, discrete and easy to use is now loud, obnoxious, slow and feels like it’s been designed by a 7 year old.

Needless flashy video at log in automatically draws attention to your screen and Dust by anyone within 20ft of you. The need for verification by text message every time you log in is pointless if you use it on the same device and again draws attention to the use of Dust . Takes longer to log in and log out. The color scheme is shocking! Designed by a 7 year old. Lime green on black will draw every ones attention to your screen now.

In summary what was previously a good app is now useless! Can’t begin to convey how disappointed I am with it.

I don’t want to be warned about the other party taking screen shots! I want an app that disallows screen shots to be taken in the first place! I found the Confide App much better because not only does it not allow screenshots only one line at a time is allowed to be read and it disappears within seconds. I’m an attorney I need to be absolutely sure the other person can’t take screenshots and even if they attempt to take a photo with another phone, the messages disappear way to quick to bother. One only has a few seconds and once you start reading you can’t pause.

Right now I am highly alerted with how important encryption is from financial to social networking... My close friends and family used “Signal messenger “ until one update caused unexpected and non-forgivable lag of 1-12minutes while messaging...

So I said to my family to download this app! So far I do not like how I cannot share images/videos and or social networking items into chat.... I see this promise of a ground up design with “strong encryption “ the date is set for January 19th today is 20th... If these issues are not fixed I will seek another app!

I would strongly recommend not using a third-party to hold crypto currency in history of currency online every trade platform has been robbed... this is a fact! And yes the same websites offered free money if you stored it with them...

I await the new this app if major issues not fixed this all will be dusted!

I do like how it's like Snapchat to a certain extent. However, there are some things that I find a little annoying. I'm a person who takes more videos than I do pictures, some of those videos I would like to share with people through Dust but I can't. I also talk a lot so I like sending voice notes, Dust does not allow that. I would really love to be able to send videos and voice notes through Dust . THANK YOU!

this app is unlike any other networking app that I have ever used in the past. I have been able to gain so much knowledge from other users, and also help a few along the way. The comfort of knowing that sensitive information is protected adds great value to this unique app.

Ever sense it updated it will not let me log in or even create a new account if I wanted to!! I use Dust for a lot of business and would appreciate if we can get this fixed ASAP.

Previously I would see a banner notification when I received a this app message. Am I missing something?

There are many messaging apps but this app is definitely different and user friendly app. I love the way it looks, the way I got an account (smooth and quick). The best of all you can delete anyone’s messages anytime anywhere!!!! Great product!!!!

Before this up grade everything was private. Now, since the new upgrade, you cannot delete the chat room page. Meaning, if somebody picks up my phone and clicks on Dust they will see who I have been chatting with. The purpose of Dust was to be PRIVATE. Everything was supposed to this app immediately if I so desire. Now it does not. I will have to delete Dust because it is not a private app and, therefore, not useful to me anymore. This upgrade ruined everything.

Love the privacy features plus free crypto??? Most apps make you pay to use them!

Would love to see some bigger daily bonuses for streaks of logging in everyday for like a week or something... always room for improvement but overall, A++ app.

this app gives you the privacy you want and allows you to delete messages out of the other persons phone and tells you when it gets screen shot.

I really love the colors. I like the way things are set up however I would like there to be more options maybe surfering the web on there and maybe a built in VPN ALSO I REALLY WANT IT TO HAVE A PASSWORD WHEN YOU LOGGIN TO Dust Crucial also videochaat would be good too maybe store some photos there just grabbing ideas

A while back they did a huge overhaul, and absolutely ruined Dust . You used to be able to choose when messages were deleted. Now, everything is in 24 hours. If someone is traveling or busy and doesn’t see the message within 24 hours, it’s gone. The interface looks like it was designed by a 16 year old in 1998. Done trying to make it work, deleting Dust .

Deletes after 24 hours doesn’t collect data like other never once seen an ad overall 10/10. I’d say just download and delete Facebook messenger!!

This new version is great. The design is simple and straightforward. The focus is now on the texting, as it should have been. Great work look forward to using again.

As I understand it Dust was apparently developed by mark cuban after private text messages of his were exposed.

While I can sometimes find mark annoying, I can not say the same about Dust.

Dust does everything I want it to do, erases the messages here, there and in-between.

So not every private conversation is living on some server somewhere in some fruit basket forever.

They’re should be an option to get notifications when you get a text, otherwise okay.
