JW Library Sign Language Reviews

Recently, via a video call we helped a Bulgarian deaf man to download JWLibrarySignLanguage on his phone. After some time he finally succeeded to choose the Bible in his language. However, when trying to walk him through choosing “издания” (publications) and “медия” (media) he was confused with having English appear and then have to choose a language again in each of those categories. It was frustrating to him because he thought he was making a mistake over and over again. It would be more user friendly, especially for deaf people, many of whom who have limited reading ability in other countries, if the main language that is chosen when downloading JWLibrarySignLanguage and bible is the language that those categories display publications or media in.

Good day brothers and sisters. I can’t say enough about this wonderful provision of the JW Sign Language app and how I don’t miss carrying VHS tapes and then DVDs. This has opened up the ability to teach our students early on to prepare for their personal study, meetings and watch videos, movies at their leisure. Truly Jah has blessed your efforts. I have one question/comment, under books would it be possible to arrange the Bible Teach book at the top instead of the bottom pick list. In training our students through video chat/zoom/FaceTime etc it has been challenging getting the student to find the publication. Just wondering. Thank you again for all you do.

I just reloaded iOS onto my iPad and needed to download all of the videos again. JWLibrarySignLanguage randomly crashes and frequently becomes unusable during this process. After restarting JWLibrarySignLanguage , JWLibrarySignLanguage will not open, it does not even get to the flash screen before crashing many times. My guess is that I am going to need to delete the entire app again in order for me to get JWLibrarySignLanguage functional (this has happened previously when I first set up JWLibrarySignLanguage .)

If switching to another app and then trying to open JW Library again, I consistently see only a black screen and must force quit for it to work properly again. This is the only app out of 65 that I use that I see this problem with.

App still has UI bug that has been present for many months. The pop-up menu at the bottom should disappear after a few seconds or when the video is one-finger tapped, but actually leaves a very visible and distracting grey box.

The custom playlists do not allow for selecting anything other than a full chapter and won’t allow trimming. Also, playlists still do not support importing media. These features were present on third-party apps like Cienega almost 8 years ago.

The songs take an inordinate amount of time to load. The load time is so exaggerated that students often press two or three times because they think JWLibrarySignLanguage is not responding. The extra touch inputs then interfere with the correct playback of the songs.

Would like to thank you for all the hard work and effort put into JWLibrarySignLanguage. It is totally awesome how Jehovah uses us imperfect humans in order to carry out his work of informing people of all languages of his purpose of bringing all his creation together as one happy family. As Revelations 4:11 aptly puts it-all glory and honor belongs to Jehovah.
Yes, there are glitches in the program at times-such as the screen going black without reason (as if it is shutting down but not off). It is both on my iPhone and my iPad so is it the amount that I’ve downloaded them problem? I wish I could open the English and Sign at the same time. Maybe some day.

I am hugely appreciative of this wonderful app. I use it everyday.

I’ve been getting this error message frequently. It happens when JWLibrarySignLanguage says I have pending updates for a publication. I tap download. The progress bar gets all the way to the end and then I get a pop-up that says the installation failed. JWLibrarySignLanguage also says I still have pending updates.

Also, import still doesn’t work. It would be hugely useful. I look forward to the day when it’s fixed.

What an incredible job on adding playlists. Such high quality of design in JWLibrarySignLanguage, great job! I’m sure you have these in the works already, 2 killer features to add to JWLibrarySignLanguage would be a Meetings tab like is in the purple JW Library app, and the ability to display create custom clips in the playlists (would make it much easier when you just want to show part of a scripture or to replay a certain part). Thank you for all the great features you can continue to give us.

My absolute favorite app! Especially with the addition of multiple sign languages! A must-have for any sign language user or Bible lover! No other organization produces anything even near this quality!

One issue:
My iPhone (i5) doesn't have as many videos available as my iPad (iPad mini) -not even any 2018 WTs available on iPhone, but no update seems available. Oddly my iPad is much older than my iPhone and has an older OS 9.3.5, but the newer iPhone running the current OS 10.3.3 is the one not showing any updates or newer publications.

JWLibrarySignLanguage is so much easier than trying to gather all our study materials together on our own. I remember those days... clipping scriptures and downloading and converting and switching from one location to another. It saves so much time; we can now focus on our study. And it's beautiful! I know the constant change in technology is a real challenge to keep up with. And you have your own spirituality to keep up with. So I thank you so much for all your hard work!!!

JWLibrarySignLanguage has made watching videos and studying in ASL incredibly easy. Biggest issue is the black screen that shows when I first open JWLibrarySignLanguage . I would have to force quit JWLibrarySignLanguage every time this happens. And it happens every day. I thought it was my iPad because it was old...I have now have the newest iPad Pro and the same issue occurs.
A meeting button like the purple JW app would be an awesome feature to have. Thank you again for all the hard work! I will not stop using JWLibrarySignLanguage, it really is a blessing from JH.

My wife and love JWLibrarySignLanguage so much since day 1 when it was released. We been in sign language over 12 yrs now and have used JWLibrarySignLanguage a lot. The new update with the references scriptures in the Bible, watchtower and workbook we absolutely love! We thank Jehovah everyday for providing this to us through the Governing Body using the organization willing and skilled volunteers to make this happen. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The new updated app is a blessing from Jehovah! The new links makes studying easier and can spend more time doing research. The only minor issue is that JWLibrarySignLanguage dims the screen automatically and I have to increase the screen brightness to almost max to see the videos. This isn’t an iPad setting but JWLibrarySignLanguage itself. Thank you again for all your hard work.

Thank you so much for this great tool! With the ability to add external materials to playlist it makes it simpler to teach with pictures and to use JWLibrarySignLanguage in the congregation.

One thing that would be helpful in organizing the playlists in to categories would be the option to make folders or possibly tags like the Purple JW Library app.

Very user friendly! One idea that could be helpful: Instead of backing up and restoring to transfer a specific playlist, can we select which playlist we want to transfer to another computer ? This will allow for preparation on one device. Then go to KH and transfer the specific playlist to KH device. Thanks for listening. 🙂

Update August 19, 2019:

I really have mixed feelings about JWLibrarySignLanguage. I know JWLibrarySignLanguage developers really did place 100% of effort into its design but my sole attempt to use it with a deaf person bombed big time. JWLibrarySignLanguage is for the lazy and spoiled wealthy deaf community.

I intend to donate $50 for it before the end of this year.

I first downloaded JWLibrarySignLanguage about two years ago almost right after it came out. I was able to use it with a genuinely deaf guy who thought I was looking for a date and boyfriend. I then deleted JWLibrarySignLanguage and decided the only way I can use it is if I ever became half way decent at ASL and if I ever had access to high quality unlimited free wifi hotspots . At this time I have almost zero interest in learning ASL and even if I did learn it I would ignore the men and focus on the women. Can I make myself any more clear than this?

JWLibrarySignLanguage is a credit to Jehovah, and his Son Jesus directing the spreading of the good news! it’s true it doesn’t have all the features the purple app has, but it has features that the purple app doesn’t have! Pausing with two fingers is a wonderful feature and being able to play video in slow motion, fast motion is indispensable!

Love JWLibrarySignLanguage but is there a way we can have a meetings tab like the purple app has? It's very hard to find the videos I'm looking for when studying for the meetings. English workbook already has everything written in it and they also have a cheat sheet with all the reference material. I wish studying in asl was as easy. I do appreciate all your hard work brothers and sisters. Thanks!

JWLibrarySignLanguage is so great - I could ramble for 10 minutes about the old days of video tapes and hauling around a small portable tv-vhs player in my trunk, followed by the huge upgrade in tech that I could bring a laptop that played dvds and cut my trunk space drastically! Getting JWLibrarySignLanguage has been truly a gift and I thank you all for dedicating so much time and effort to taking care of us!

Not sure why it keeps crashing. Don’t know what to do. Maybe my phone? Or the type of sign I need? Keep waiting for updates hoping it will help but it’s been a month and the last update didn’t work. Don’t know if it helps to post this or not but grasping at straws.

When I try to open JWLibrarySignLanguage . It kicks me off,

Thank you brothers for all the hard work on JWLibrarySignLanguage . It is very useful for the meetings and ministry.
Recently however I re-downloaded JWLibrarySignLanguage after clearing up space on my iPad and JWLibrarySignLanguage crashes when trying to download some books in the Hebrew Scriptures. Please fix, Thank you.

I’m not sure if I just missed it, but for the purple app, you have the option to Select items you’ve downloaded and delete them. With the orange app I can’t find this option. Is it not available? If not, can it become available? If it is I’m wondering how I do it? Thanks!

The frequent updates to literature helps me know I always have the latest information at my fingertips. Thanks so much for all of the hard work. The advancement of this product in keeping with technological advances is wonderful!

Latest update put a huge smile on our faces! Having the links in the publications and Bible references now makes a huge difference! We can feel Jehovah’s constant care. My brothers and sisters, thank you for all your hard work!

Please consider the following suggestions for us to make better use of JWLibrarySignLanguage at congregation meetings:

- Make a section where we can download meeting videos (for the week)
- Allow for a camera mixing feature (with a camera input)
- Allow us to access the meeting workbook’s photos so we can display them on corresponding parts

If implemented; JWLibrarySignLanguage could replace everything else we use for congregation meetings for the video department. Jah’s blessing on your wonderful work!!! :)

Amazing how much Jehovah uses technology to advance us in the ministry. I’m currently working on getting baptized and learning ASL. But JWLibrarySignLanguage is kinda slow when I try to download videos and books but love it and all of our brothers and sisters around the world!
