Why is CNNWeather requiring an account to spit out information that it should be able to provide based on location, which it also collects (for obvious reasons)?
Sorry, but as soon as I downloaded CNNWeather and ran into that demand for an account I deleted CNNWeather . I won’t be using it. I don’t see the point. I can always use a free app and ask it to tag a certain location as my home area with no need for an account.
I was excited to try the new CNN Weather app. I have all of my apps set to ‘share location only when using’ because I don’t want to be tracked all the time. The CNN Weather App has pop ups on the iPhone asking me to change the ‘location sharing to always’. Even when I am not using CNNWeather I get popups asking me to change location data. Every two hours my iPhone will stop working until I answer either keep sharing settings as is or allow sharing all the time. I had to delete CNNWeather just to use my iPhone.
I saw an announcement about this new weather app so I thought I would give it a try. After a few questions about what location services I wanted to allow access to, I was prompted to create a mandatory account to see the weather.
Nope. Sorry. Not happening… Even a simple Google search will give me a rough idea of the weather for my current area without logging into something…
I was looking forward to CNNWeather, but disappointed to see that it doesn’t adjust to the iPAD screen format. A tall narrow iPhone screen on my iPad doesn’t work for me.
There also needs to be a setting to prevent auto-launching videos. This is a deal-breaker for me.
Am deleting CNNWeather for now, but will check back periodically and if updates address these two issues, will try it again.
I really wish there was a home and lockscreen widget for the weather to be able to quickly check the weather. Other than that i love it! I get notified on time and all
This has potential to be one of, if not the, best free weather app out there. Adding widget capabilities will go a long way
This weather app is great! Tons of customization and really sleek design. And so simple to navigate! Will definitely be my go-to weather app from here on out.
I like the aesthetics of this weather app. Being able to zoom the radar out to the entire planet is awesome

Love this, easy to see the daily weather and the week ahead. Includes radar which is so helpful. The articles and weather photography are very cool!

As a self proclaimed weather nerd I’m typically relying on multiple sources to give me a full reading, CNNWeather does all of that for me! Thank you CNN for creating such a robust and beautiful experience for me to use daily.
loving CNNWeather a LOT! sooo much better than the apple weather app or the weather channel app. my only ask is to create the CNN weather app Widget for my home screen, that’s one of the most convenient features of the other two weather apps but i want cnn weather!!!! hopefully they can add in the next update!
This is a fantastic addition to my iPhone and the way critical weather information is presented in such a clean and informative way is great! I think CNNWeather could benefit from iOS Home Screen widgets, for at-a-glance use.
Love the minimal look of the landing page. The information that I need is quickly available. The videos and stories at the bottom are fun to go through, wish there was more.
Installed and account set up. I like it! Loads quickly and I can see the three things I want most:
1. Temperature for the next few hours
2. Week at a glance temperature outlook
3. Daily details and forecasts of temp, dew point, humidity, wind and gusts, sun and moon rise and set, etc.

I just noticed… CNNWeather addresses my number one pet peeve: many apps show the “overnight low” which is actually the next day (without disclosing) instead of showing that day’s forecast low.
On CNNWeather, Friday’s forecast low is correctly shown on Friday morning, not Thursday.
I love CNNWeather! I already have 3 Wx apps on my phone, but this is my new favorite. It’s so clean and easy to use. Love the radar where you can see not just precipitation, but wind, etc. And even the articles and photos at the bottom are great. Very clean and easy to use! Thank you!
