I want to be fair: Romi itself functions as advertised, but my experience raised serious concerns about authenticity. I spent many hours in what felt like deep, meaningful conversation, only to later realize there were multiple red flags—no photo verification, no live video or voice confirmation, and communication that eventually felt scripted or transactional.
This led me to question whether I was interacting with a real person or an incentivized/automated account. Given the emotional investment encouraged by Romi ’s design, the lack of transparency and verification creates a high risk for users who are seeking genuine connection.
I’m not saying everyone on Romi is fake—but there need to be clearer safeguards, better disclosure, or optional verification tools so users can make informed decisions. Without that, the experience can feel misleading and emotionally costly.
