Expensive and Data Privacy

To use the translation you need credits, which you apparently could get from making an account but I, and many others, received none. Furthermore, to get these credits you have to pay a minimum of $10 A WEEK. In terms of data privacy, there is no option to delete your account, only to deactivate. It explicitly says all your data will be saved if you deactivate your account so there is no way to remove your account and phone number private.

The app is NOT free. Read before downloading.

Dababel is good, but I only used it for 2 minutes because I had to pay to use all of the features. And the worst part is there is only a $10 weekly plan which is absurd. I had to deactivate my account and delete Dababel because I do not want to pay $10 a week just to use a translator. I don’t hate Dababel , I just think making Dababel free for no reason and then throwing a membership requirement in your face not even five seconds later is a really bad idea. If the developers made yearly or lifetime plan, that would be so much better. I really hope the developers take notice of this and fix it soon.

Paid Subscription Service

Great idea, but you have to pay for it. Not only that, it’s extremely expensive. It doesn’t do enough to differentiate from google translate and other free platforms to justify the price. You are also blatantly trying to hide the fact that it’s an expensive subscription in your storefront and advertising. You probably make us pay extra to unlock the different modes too. Not cool. Make it free and put some ads or something and add a premium version with no ads if you’re that desperate for money.

Having to pay

I wish you really didn’t have to pay for Dababel, Dababel could have really big potential but having to pay to even use it it’s just no fun
I just had a Spanish-speaking friend who move to my school and I really wanted to make a conversation. I’ve been trying with other apps, but they just haven’t been working after seeing the Quackity video I thought maybe this would work but as soon as I joined, I had to pay to even use it. It was just no fun and I still can’t speak to my Spanish-speaking friend.

Can’t Pay, Can’t Use

I was really excited to use Dababel because I have family that speak Spanish and I wanted to use it to finally have flowing conversations with them. So be me, I download Dababel and see that the lowest premium plan is 9.99 A WEEK. Too expensive just for a weekly payment. So I try to use Dababel without a plan, BUT TURNS OUT YOU CANT USE ANY FEATURES IF YOU DONT PAY. This is could’ve been a great app if there were more affordable prices in plans for the application. Hopefully, the plans prices will go down, but until then I will not be using Dababel.

Pricing

I just downloaded it but the options on Dababel are near to zero without paying for the membership. My family is not very well off with money, and 10 dollars per week for just the starter pack (cheapest option) is quite expensive. This is extremely unfortunate for me and I am hoping you will change prices in the future, maybe transitioning to monthly payments at least - rather than paying $10 per week. That would be a whopping 540 dollars per year.

Disappointed

I love quakity and i love learning new languages. So, when I saw his new video talking about this app and what it is, I was very excited. Even more so as a BTS fan.

I downloaded Dababel asap. The layout is nice and seems easy to use. My first problem i ran into however was that it was extremely difficult to add my voice. It wouldn't capture it. Either a noticed popped up, but i recorded 15 seconds and am in a quiet room. Then it wouldn't save it once i was speaking clearly enough and long enough. My second issue is, it is very annoying to only be able to use ANY feature in Dababel without a subscription and the lowest amount being $9.99 USD *weekly* is insane imo.

The concept is great. Dababel looks nice. But the mic pickup/feedback needs work. And personally, i feel like the starting price of $9.99 weekly makes this quite inaccessible to a lot of people. It is hard to rationalize a cost like that for the average person.

Works great, but free isn’t an option.

When I got Dababel , I got a preview on how the voice mimicking works, and I was stunned. I decided to not do the plan because I am currently saving up for a trip, so this one be just something to play around with and use for gaming, but all of the options are locked behind the plan. I was expecting at least a usage limit or a daily credits. The weekly and extra credits come with the plan. Currently, as I know of, there is no way to use Dababel without a subscription.

It’s unusable if you don’t pay for it.

They have an option to use the translation features without purchasing a member membership, but when you try to use any feature on Dababel , it automatically tells you to sign up. So unless you are willing to pay the price for using it, then I don’t recommend it at all. I’d say it’s not that expensive. But then again it it doesn’t give you unlimited translations it gives you monthly credits:

Subscription

I love the concept of bilingual translations and the new technology to communicate with others in their mother tongue. I was heavily shocked when it was true that they mimic my voice properly into the language I chose (Spanish) and was more than excited to use it. Just to come to disappointment that you have to pay a membership weekly/monthly for this. Now I understand making these type of technology things ain’t cheap, but it’s still a little sad to see so. People will want to use these type of tools to communicate with other languages with others. I hope Dababel will get better and maybe change to make it available to those who want to use it for its purpose.

It’s cool but I wish it was more upfront

You need to pay a subscription which means this isn’t a free product at all. It’s cool technology but it doesn’t allow you to record voice probably because you have to pay for the weekly fee membership. Not a fan of that aspect especially since it wasn’t advertised with a membership deal. Was excited to use this and potentially use it later but I’ll have to wait still then.

You have to pay to use so called “free translator tool”?

don’t get me wrong, i am SO proud of Quackity but i’m so confused. He advertised Dababel as a free translator tool but every time i try to use conversation mode or really anything else it tells me i have to pay. i want to talk to people who don’t speak english but i don’t have the money to pay $40 a month. i suggest maybe making another membership plan just for the conversation mode or something. idk

Unable to record voice

Dababel is great. I’m able to type out and record sentences and able to filter them through many different languages. The only issue I have is that I have been trying constantly for over 30 minutes to record my voice saying different phrases in hopes of actually hearing my voice, be translated into other languages only for it to tell me That the voice phrase is either too short or it couldn’t hear me. Since Dababel is so new it’s a little difficult to find a solution to this problem.

Paywalled

You can’t do anything without paying. Literally anything and every feature is blocked. It’s “buy a membership” screen advertised additional translation features, but there isn’t even basic translation for people who can’t pay. This disappointed me as I at least hoped basic translation would work.

Overall, I support the creator, and believe with time and exposure things will hopefully open up for people who can’t pay. However, what we can actually use and what’s seen in the promotional video are completely different for those who can’t afford even a basic membership.

EVERYTHING is behind a paywall :/

i was super excited to use Dababel! the concept is awesome! that’s why it got the three stars it did lol.

i was really disappointed when i realized its $10 a week, just to use Dababel . i’m a working college student, and 10 bucks a week for an app is just really out of my budget.

i do want to emphasize that it is super cool idea, and it is AWESOMMEE that the idea was brought to life. i just hope it can be more accessible one day :)

Really amazing concept, confusing app at first glance

I was super excited to try Dababel out but I quickly realized each thing cost credits however, it does not clarify how much credits it cost. Is it 100 credits per translation? How much does it cost to use play mode? The pricing seems a little bit high too, it’s 10 dollars per week just for the basic plan with 5k credits. I’m not angry since this is a really amazing concept but for 40 dollars? I’m still unsure. I also had a small issue with the voice recording part with my voice being unclear despite me re-recording multiple times. I do hope they can clarify these issues but this can easily be forgiven since Dababel JUST launched, haha.

a bug maybe?

So when i try to type in my number or any of my family members number it says “Failed to send OTP. Please try again.” but i’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it many times but it wont let me make an account.

Amazing!

It’s amazing to hear my own voice in other languages! But I could only use it once before it started asking for a subscription :(. I know it’s early in development, but I speak Dutch and I’d think I’d be cool to hear how it compares to how I really speak it; I’d like to see Dutch added to it at some point. Also some other languages like Arabic, Russian, German, Mandarin, or Hebrew or other languages would be a neat addition.

My voice isn’t being duplicated

I’ve tried multiple times to try and creat the dub of my voice, I checked to see if I just didn’t have my voice recording on, but I always did. I tried testing my phones mic, to see if that was the problem, but it wasn’t.

I even made sure there was no background noise and recorded longer sessions. Every time I tried to move on it’d just give me the error and tell me to try again.

I understand Dababel is new, I just wanted to bring light to the situation, and see if anyone else was having the same problem.

Tried it because quackity always makes amazing stuff

Honestly it works SO WELL, I’m not even just saying this because of the creator. I have a certain friend who lives all the way in Europe while I’m in the US and now it’s easy for us to talk without a stupid language barrier! I love this app and I’m sure you will too.
