There is absolutely no reason to be using AI generated images of these birds, all of which are real and have easily accesible public domain photos of them on the internet. As a bird lover, it’s very disappointing to see someone use AI rather than the beautiful already existing images of these birds considered how it contributes to harming the environment these birds rely on. Not to mention, relying on AI has resulted in some of these birds not being depicted accurately which is very disappointing. Please do better.
I have a lot of friends, and none of us use Instagram. This has been a FANTASTIC alternative to writing them actual letters or just “keeping up” in a group chat. I love that I can learn more about the birds and the silly little descriptions of them in the codex.
RoostSocial is still really new, so there’s bugs, but the devs have been soooo on top of things and super responsive when I send emails about stuff.
Highly recommend trying this with your friends. Have yet to try the pen pal feature, want to soon.
I’m very excited to try RoostSocial with friends. I love the art and the idea of sending birds. Love that you can name your birds. One thing I wish is that RoostSocial would provide some bird facts about the birds you send and receive (eg. migration habits, mating habits etc). This would be a great way to learn some bird facts!!
my boyfriend sent me an invite to RoostSocial, and i downloaded it because the idea was really funny to me! however, once i opened RoostSocial and made an account, i discovered that each "pigeon" option was an image generated by ai, and i found that extremely disappointing. i feel that it really isn't that difficult to just find ethical, real-life images of these animals instead of using a robot to create something that already exists. these images don't even have to be special in any way, just something *real*. seeing that's it's filled to the brin with ai generated slop, it makes it feel much less real/human, and it's upsetting. i think it would be great if the developers of RoostSocial used such already-existing resources rather than wasting natural resources to generate these living beings with a robot.
In an age of instant messaging, over connectedness, and a never ending stream of information at our fingertips, Roost Social brings back intentional communication - wrapped in a slick UI and adorable birds!
I’ve enjoyed the anticipation that has come with waiting for messages - I honestly want to get rid of iMessage and use Roost exclusively. Communication feels intentional in a way that I have never felt with any other social media platform.
I was extremely lucky to be an early beta tester, and I know that the developer is personally driven to keep improving RoostSocial and keep building this wonderful community. I can’t wait to see where Roost goes from here!
This is a super fun app and great for keeping up with friends! I’m in college and it’s been hilarious to send messages to friends over the summer! I think currently since RoostSocial is so new it has too many features and is trying to do too much but other then that it works really well!
This is the best app I’ve ever downloaded. Obsessed. I invited all of my friends so I can send them messages via snail and owl. If you need me, I’m only available on Roost. Idk how but I need a group chat option haha
I love the concept. My friends and I are having a ton of fun sending each other silly letters. Developer is constantly making updates and improving RoostSocial ! Definitely recommend.
This little app adds a sprinkle of joy to my day. It’s the perfect amount of whimsy and prioritizes what I have been trying to add more of to my life, sincere connection and a slower pace. Get it, tell your friends, enjoy some silly little digital birds sending messages.
Honestly this is the most cool concept of an app ever. Going back to the roots of long distance messaging with wait times and special birds makes every message feel important and meaningful. I have told all of my friends about RoostSocial and nine of them have downloaded RoostSocial today alone!
I’m having such a blast with this! I live across the country from my parents and even sending fast birds it takes about 2 days to send something to them and it’s delightful! I’m even more thrilled by the addition of sending little drawings which is my preferred method of communication anyways and somehow adds even more to the whimsy!!
RoostSocial is hilarious, wholesome and just the right amount of “nerdy.” I haven’t been this excited about an app ever! It’s so fun to send messages to family, friends and pen-pals and watch the birds on the map! The fact that you can name your birds and give them a bio is amazing 😂 Can’t wait for my sister to receive her snail mail in a month 😂
I genuinely love the concept behind Roost. In a world where every app is fighting for your attention with instant notifications and endless scrolling, this feels refreshingly intentional and calm. Watching your messages physically travel across the map by bird somehow makes communication feel meaningful again instead of disposable.
The art style and atmosphere are charming, the idea of building and training your own flock is surprisingly addictive, and the real-time flight system adds this cozy sense of anticipation that modern messaging apps completely lost years ago. It feels nostalgic without being gimmicky.
What really stands out is the philosophy behind it: no algorithm, no doomscrolling, no pressure to reply instantly. Just thoughtful communication and a genuinely unique experience.
It’s rare to see an app that feels this creative and emotionally distinct. Excited to see how it grows. 🕊️
This is one of the best apps I’ve ever downloaded. You’re able to send realtime messages to your friends using digital birds. The map function 10/10 ambiance while you fly yes I think I will. Have a pen pal across the world? They do that too and match your interests/age. Fun little games to upgrade your birds and hatch a new bird each week… 5 stars isn’t enough 🧡
I’ve never written a review about an app before, but the developer is so kind so I’m doing it. RoostSocial is bonkers. It’s wildly simple, but the whimsy adds the perfect dopamine hit that I need in life right now! Making new buddies around the globe, giggling about cute birbs and super fast chickens, watching my little penguin belly slide across the continent… MAGIC! 10/10 no notes - if you have a soul you need RoostSocial
I have never had something so dumb before. It’s incredible. I’ve loved every minute of waiting for my snail or my penguin to deliver (and trust me, the snail has you waiting manyyyy minutes). I’m awaiting my friend’s bald eagle to deliver to America from India and it will take over a week. I get excited waiting to find out what my friends sent me and can’t wait to collect more birds! What a glorious app!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m not one to leave reviews but I had to express how happy I was to get to this one semi early. The Dev really seems to take people’s suggestions to heart and it seems like every day there’s a new or tweaked feature. Which of course things will level out since it’s still so new but it feels really collaborative and it’s been a fun way to keep in touch with my family who live in a different country.
RoostSocial is exactly what I want out of a smart phone. In the span of one morning I have convinced half of my friends and family to join. We have all named our beloved birds and are stoked for more to come. My friend who lives an hour away sent me a message via snail that will take 28 hours to arrive, while my rock pigeon can get a message to a friend 700 miles away in under 10 hours. Absolutely incredible app, 10/10.
In the technology age of instant everything, RoostSocial is such a fresh and fun way to get excited about the little things. My title is a little hyperbolic, but RoostSocial is so fun and silly in a time where everything feels heavy. It scratches an itch and meets a need I didn’t know I had. A lot of people I’ve told have just shaken their heads at the concept, and I’m just immediately convinced they need more whimsy in their lives.
One of the fastest growing apps I’ve noticed! I highly recommend RoostSocial for anyone looking for a very interesting and exciting way to send messages to friends and family! I love it
