Have to pay before trying

I saw an ad for Unrot and was so excited to try it out because it is a really intriguing concept. I downloaded Unrot and went through the (way too long) intro only to hit a paywall before being able to access the actual app. I totally get it being a paid subscription but I’m not about to drop money on an app I can’t even try first. Even being able to try it in a limited capacity where you have to buy it unlock all of the features would be fine by me. They do put an X on the paywall screen but it’s just a trick and when you select it they offer you a discount but you still can’t exit that screen without paying. It seems silly to expect people to pay without giving them the chance to see if it’s something they will actually want to use. I’m sad because I think it’s such a cool idea and I would love to try it to see if it’s something I could implement to lower my screen time but especially at the price point of $9.99 per month for an app, I can’t spend that unless I know I will use it.

Why does it always do this?

So I see this ad and it was for and I was like oh my God wait that would be like such a cool thing for me cause I can finally stop being on my phone all day and I go through everything. It looks legit it looks so good and then it pops up that one question we all hate the money question it asks if you want to do a weekly trial or a trial for like three days and then you have to pay something like $15 I actually thought this could really help me, but who wants to be paying that much money for an app like if you want something that will this app your brain. How about just put your phone down or go to a therapist? It’s that easy.

App backend need revision

I really like Unrot in general, great concept on buying your screen time. Now I been using it for a couple of days now and I’ve found a couple of problems.
Unrot randomly gives me the morning routine pop up and locks all of my apps. Unrot takes away everything I’ve earning during the day to that point. If your paying 30 dollars the should work. Now I hope this get fixed, cause I genuinely think this is ahead of the competition if it works the ways it’s intended to.

It was great until …

Until I tried to start unblocking apps. The first time I bought screen time it worked, but the second time I bought screen time the apps stayed blocked. So I manually unblocked them in settings and they were still blocked. I uninstalled Unrot and they were still blocked. So I gave up for a bit because having them blocked was helpful… but it still wouldn’t unblock anything. A few days ago I blocked everything and then unblocked all but one app I don’t really use that much. It didn’t seem to do anything at the time so I sighed and gave up again… until this morning I woke up and all of my apps were grayed out on my phone except a few because screen time has a maximum number of apps it can block. The only thing that has fixed my problem is no longer allowing this app to have access to screen time restrictions. It’s very frustrating.

Great idea but…

The issue with Unrot is that those who are busy making money every minute of their lives simply do not have the time to use it. On the other hand, those who do have the time to use Unrot often lack the financial resources to pay for it. While you have a great idea and excellent promotional videos for your app, they are not targeting the right audience, specifically, the clients who would benefit from Unrot . The part about "can't pay" suggests that you expect users to ask their parents for money. How many parents would be willing to pay for an app that helps with something they may not even care about, especially when they are focused on more pressing concerns like housing and living expenses? Sorry great idea but I have to decline to be your client

Wish there was a free trial

Unrot looks great but I really don’t want to commit to purchasing a whole month (for $8) or a jump straight to the year plan for $30, which is clearly a better deal. I would love to be able to try Unrot out for at least 3 days before purchasing. If you could add a free trial, I would definitely give Unrot a try.

Probably won’t use long term

I paid for 1 month of Unrot just to try it out since there is no trial (plenty of reviews already complaining about that). After using it for 2 days I can already tell I probably won’t extend my subscription. I want to decrease my time on social media but I am not addicted so maybe I’m not the target audience idk.

What I don’t like is that if you forget to start an this app task in Unrot - and then want to mark later on that you did that task - you can’t. I often clean and tidy between work tasks but I always forget to go into Unrot to kick off that task. So I never get to collect the points.

I guess with the cute design Unrot might be geared toward younger people? But younger people have to get approval to buy Unrot so I’m not really sure who Unrot is supposed to be for. I suspect it was not made for me though.

Sneaky sneaky

I was scrolling on instagram and ads kept popping up for Unrot and i was like why not I’ll just get it to this app for fun. Anyways I downloaded it and it asked me a bunch of questions to make Unrot better for me. this took like a good five minutes because the questions were just so ongoing, anyways I’m giving it a one star cuz i did all that just to have to pay after which is annoying and u can see what i mean like why make me do all that to just say at the end i need to pay it almost feels like sneaky🙁🙁🙁

Great Concept But Needs Work

I like Unrot so far and I think it’s helping as intended but there are some bugs. One example is that at one point I bought some time and for some reason it didn’t unlock the apps and because I already bought the time, the timer is counting so I can’t buy any more or reset it. Other than that I think the tasks are creative and a good way to “earn” your scrolling. I thought it was pretty well done

Like the app, lots of potential

super cute and helpful app! love all the concepts at work and the pricepoint (per year) is certainly not awful. I do wish there was an expanded library of activities to do, and maybe even adding your own activities. (exercising only seems to have pushups as an option, etc.) but otherwise I cannot wait to see where Unrot goes! def gonna be helping me out on my detoxing journey :)

Please let us add tasks

I love Unrot but could you add a feature so we can create our own power ups? Or maybe add in a to-do list and be able to get coins from finishing tasks? There are tasks that I would like to get coins for but don’t take a lot of time.

amazing.

Unrot helped me ACTUALLY get out of my bed and clean my room that hasn’t been cleaned in months and i cleaned for 3 hours an only scrolled for 1 hour instead of i probably would have scrolled for all 4 hours before Unrot<3

Incredible

Unrot made my screen time go from 7 hours to now like 2 hours in less than a week. It’s actually life changing and I feel like I can now focus on my life without my phone taking control of it. 10/10 worth every penny.

Ground yourself because your mom isn’t there to.

Chemically and You’ve essentially given yourself a “free” gambling addiction, but instead of asking for your money to play they take your time. As adults however, we can’t just abandon our phones because we need them for essential communication and keeping in touch with current events. Just as a gambling addict will always return to the casino until they are banned or unable, you will always redownload Instagram. Getting and paying for an app or other screen limiter is the first step to getting better. Rules you place on yourself about addiction will not help you, as you made the rules and you know any consequences you place can be negotiated out of with yourself. You don’t have willpower in addiction. Realistically I want to delete app, but I know I spent money on it so I don’t want to waste that money. Big factor is I spent money on this. But now my homework is done, my house is cleaner, and it’s only been 3 days because I got 5 hours of my day back.

Morning Quest Feature

Unrot is a game changer. I cut my most addictive app by hours per day as soon as I start using it. I don’t know if it was intentional but I get morning quests more than once through the day where I set my intentions and goals. Thought that was weird cause it did it once in the morning only on the first two days. Amazing app thanks for making this!

Tbh, life changing

I was pretty skeptical at first but this app has made a big difference in my day to day life. My screen time went down from day one. at times it has small glitches but they seem to be pretty active in fixing them and reading their suggestions for new features. Overall a really great app. Looking forward to seeing how they’ll keep developing it!

Changed my life

I was skeptical at first because I couldn’t try it out with a free trial, but I read the reviews and took a chance on Unrot . It has only been a month or so now, but it’s totally changed my life. I highly recommend Unrot . I feel like it’s a good thing that there is a paywall, because I take it much more seriously since I put money into it. And I feel like the developers are doing a great job and deserve the money. It’s very affordable too. Definitely worth the money. I had tried so many time blocking stuff before, but I absolutely love this better, because I can earn my screen time. It’s a much better phycology.

This app is a gift from god

I’ve never reviewed an app before but I really want it to be known to the world that this is an amazing app. I’ve had Unrot for a week now and I can’t stop telling my friends how much I love it. It’s fun to earn my screen time and I find myself not even wanting to use my time because I don’t want to sacrifice my earned coins. I think everyone needs Unrot. 10/10 recommend

New Hope

To the developers, the new math questions, which shows up when you have 30 or lower points, and can help you gain more points, is not really a good idea, my brain started to hit the answers randomly and gain like 10 points each time!! Please consider a change!
Or the 4 option for points befor the update version was also a great way to stay focused!
Thank you developers!

Free at last

This has been a really helpful tool for me, so I’m definitely not going to complain about it costing money. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ In less than a week I already had stopped habitually checking my phone. After a month I decided to proceed with an annual subscription because I don’t want to fall off the wagon. Whew. Back to being more productive and my brain feels 5x healthier!
